Snookerman
Here's my cover. It's not perfect, but the best I could do. Even now there are a few things I want to change after listening to a few different live recordings. Tell me what you think. Wow, it took me a while before I understood what this was. I kept searching for the lyrics, though maybe the audio was off from the video. Nice cover, but why did you post in the lyrics thread? :P
laxwatcher
Just to show people, there weren't many participants in the other threads. And I didn't want to ruin the beautiful song with my voice. I assure you it isn't going to make the song better at all.
Teco
Well, updating for you guys and saving you from rewinding some pages, here is the lyrics Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold I see the arrow they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go Of you ooooh 'Cause you do Oh you, use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven On every street, every car, every surface are names And at the streets arise, we'll be writting and saying 'Don't let them take control' No we won't let them take control Yes I feel a little bit nervous Yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax How come they're out to get us? How come they're out when they don't know the facts So on a concrete canvas under cover of dark Concrete canvas I go making my mark Armed with the spray can soul I'll be armed with the spray can soul You Ooohooh Oh you Ooohooh 'Cause you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Woho-ooh Woho-oooh It's true When you use your heart as a weapon It hurts like heaven This is a big sure. As someone have said before, the studio version is very tended to be different. Anyways, all the live versions are almost equal and give us this, above. The phrase in bold is the only unsure, there are at least two different versions. Greetz
Snookerman
I would just add some more boldage: Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold I see the arrow they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go Of you ooooh 'Cause you do Oh you, use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven On every street, every car, every surface are names And at the streets arise, we'll be writting and saying 'Don't let them take control' No we won't let them take control Yes I feel a little bit nervous Yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax How come they're out to get us? rafaelchampion
I said some pages ago it was "Concrete canvas under color of dark." Listen to Heineken Jammin' Festival http://www.mediafire.com/?gr7njviq19d1oxx
Teco
I said some pages ago it was "Concrete canvas under color of dark." Listen to Heineken Jammin' Festival http://www.mediafire.com/?gr7njviq19d1oxx Well, that is a pretty good version you got up there btw. But it made even more clear to me that it is actually "under cover of dark". Although, is more evident that it is not anything like "every surfaces are names", but I couldn't figure out what he have said.
rafaelchampion
I don't see how you peps can hear "Cover". If you put "Cover" and "Color" in a speaker software you'll see the difference. The accented syllable is the first. "Coh" "Lhor". "Co" "Vahr". I'm still very sure. But we still have to wait until the release, since they change it so much... Snookerman
I listened to your mp3 and I can only hear "cover". I've listened to almost all the versions out there and I've never heard "colour". I am 99.98% sure he sings "cover" and it makes a whole lot more sense than "colour".

As for "every surface are names," I still think those are the correct lyrics. Check out this video I took of last night's LA performance. The audio quality is, frankly, terrible, but check it out starting around 3:19, and that line should be very, very clear. Still can't tell if the next line is "writing the same" or "writing this sayin' " though. So cover's accent is in the "ver" syllable? If you say so... Under cover of dark = coberto pela escuridão. Under color of dark = não faz sentido nenhum semanticamente e não é adequado sintaticamente. Se a palavra fosse "color", necessariamente haveria "the" antes. "Under the color of anything". Listne to any other version. He says cô..., not có.... Color would be có. ;)

admnistramation
Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? I don't know if it's been addressed, but it kind of fits in with that spacial theme they're aiming at, so could this be considered part of the song? admnistramation
I know, but I can still picture him singing those two lines and the "ohhh... hurts like heaven..." on that piano outro. It'd be so sweet.
ArcadePlay ColdFire
On every street, every car, every surface are names And as the streets arise, we'll be writing this saying: "Don't let them take control" No we won't let them take control The lyric literally means that they are writing upon whatever they can find to warn others to take their lives back from the people associated with Major Minus. xylobryte
Slightly pointless addition: My earphone socket on my computer is slightly messed up - whenever I play music on it through the earphones it distorts everything that's normally in the foreground and somehow brings up stuff in the background of a song - have no idea why but hey... Anyway, was listening to the iTunes Festival show (HLH to be specific) and to my surprise, the pre-recorded vocals they put on in the background came up INCREDIBLY clear, and so this is what I heard: The lyrics used in the pre-recorded bits are in italics (we already know 99% of these lyrics anyway, but I'm assuming the bits I heard were from the studio version, so will be right... RWLover
You can recreate the effect xylobryte had through his earphones quite easily, I tweaked the iTunes Festival version of HLH and now you can hear the backing track in very good quality: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ3gZAwcn0I]Coldplay - Hurts Like Heaven backing track - YouTube[/ame] Charlie Brown doesn't work though, I guess there are no pre-recorded backing vocals on there ;)
poeincompany
they really need to nicely layer those backing vocals!.... or else it could turn out.. a little.. not good :\ a wee bit too much auto-tune for me, but if they do it right, IT COULD POSSIBLY BE AWESOME! here's to hoping they don't do anything too drastic with these backing vocals! :D
foxeh
It kinda sounds cool and Futureistic. It also changes the Rythmn. The "Yes i feel a little bit nervous" Part sounds epic.
