September 16, 201114 yr Yep. But imagine J-Zee or whatever are making old Coldplay style music, imagine just for a second. Awkward, isn't it? It might improve him, lol. But yeah...awkward!
September 16, 201114 yr You know what, I only didn't hear 4 songs from MX and I think Up In Flames is the last nail in my desire to buy it. I will skip it. Sorry. Drop Eno and don't try to change your handwriting, guys. Looking forward for LP6.
September 16, 201114 yr Eno wasn't the foremost producer this time, so I don't understand why people are 'blaming' him. He WAS the lead producer on VLV, which everyone, including me, seems to love. I don't like some of the new production values, but why are so many laying that on Eno?

He created stupid rules and borders for boys which is lead us to this amazing timeless classic MX album with hip hop and Rihanna. Jeez.
September 16, 201114 yr He created stupid rules and borders for boys which is lead us to this amazing timeless classic MX album with hip hop and Rihanna. Jeez. There are 3 producers this time, so we can't blame it all on Eno. Yes, I don't like the newer production values, but thinking it's all Eno's fault isn't realistic. Damn! I'd like to produce their next album, lol. I'd stick them all in the middle of nowhere with their instruments and not let them come back til they wrote an album. :) That being said, I do like the new songs. I just wish they sounded more...organic.
September 16, 201114 yr This was a nice surprise to wake up to. A simple song as expected. I can barely hear Jonny´s riff at the end, so will wait for a higher quality video before I make my mind about this one. Also the studio version is bound to be different as it´s referred as bass-heavy. But what I heard so far in this video does not displease me. :)

I don't like some of the new production values, but why are so many laying that on Eno? Not everyone loves VLV. Compared to the old Coldplay stuff VLV is a step backwards. And I hope MX will not be another regress. But as far as we've heard the new material (apart from MTM, HLH, CB and UATW), the constant repeating in the lyrics and the news, that Rihanna will be on the album, I have to say that it indeed seems to be another step backwards... .
September 16, 201114 yr Andi;4978757']Good song. But why must Chris repeat that up in flames a hundred times? Maybe he couldn't think of a lyric, or maybe he's trying to emphasise the meaning of the song? God, I hate saying cheesy things, but then again I do listen to Coldplay.
September 16, 201114 yr Yep. But imagine J-Zee or whatever are making old Coldplay style music, imagine just for a second. Awkward, isn't it? No I would love this. Maybe I would start liking Jay-Z hehe :)
September 16, 201114 yr nothing special really......i don' t see the magic and the chords they used to pick up so well
September 16, 201114 yr Wow. I've loved everything that the boys have released from this album, but this was just terrible. My music is better than this song. Don't believe me? See for yourself! I really like your song. Thanks for posting :) However I would defer judgement about Up In Flames until a better version is out there :)

And yeah, I agree with some of what you're saying. I just don't think one producer is at fault. I've read on FB that 'Eno Ruined Coldplay'. Not fair and not true. And even if I hated all the new songs, I'd stand by that. Not defending Eno, just saying look at the whole package.
September 16, 201114 yr Andi;4978798']Compared to the old Coldplay stuff VLV is a step backwards. Are you kidding me? ANYTHING would have been a huge step forward after X&Y. :laugh3:
September 16, 201114 yr Now this is what I was expecting for the album. Not ETIAW/Paradise. This absolutely is lovely. Less processed, more depth and more Coldplay heart and spirit.

Read this quote from Rolling Stones magazine: Longtime collaborator Brian Eno set the ground rules for Coldplay's fifth LP, recorded over the past two years in London. "He wrote a list of 10 commandments on the wall to keep us from treading the same ground," says drummer Will Champion.
September 16, 201114 yr Up In Flames - Coldplay ACL Live 9/15/11 - World Debut - YouTube What a relieve to hear this. I hope the studio version does also sound like this.

"He wrote a list of 10 commandments on the wall to keep us from treading the same ground," says drummer Will Champion. Yup. I know. Already read it. Just saying he's not the sole producer and the others had input too, as did the band. Love it or hate it, it's not all on Eno,lol.. JEEZ. ;)
September 16, 201114 yr I don't know why, but part of the song reminded me of this song: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k59GT0eMl-E]I can go the distance - Hercules - YouTube[/ame] haha! A few things 1. I could BARELY make out anything Jonny was playing... The video may be terrible quality, but i don't see how this is something utterly tear-inducing...yet. Hoping to find a better video in the next few days. 2. The moment Chris continuously repeated "Up in Flames," I cringed. Too much repetition, on this entire album. Its absolutely no where near Clocks and Fix You. Not a chance. Lyrics made those songs amazing, and they each had a hefty amount of material in them. :\ 3. It feels short haha. If there was a point where they exploded (a la Fix You) in my opinion it would be freaking amazing. But its still decent. It has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to the studio version of this. I love the organic, stripped down sound. Piano heavy, me gusta. And there's nothing wrong with throwing strings behind this. I've absolutely loved the strings I've heard from this era! It might be what I have the most confidence in for MX. :)
