He might have been, but actually, I've heard many other musicians say the same thing-it's very common for a lot of artists to not be able to read music. They often learn just playing by ear.

 

I'll probably watch this again tonight and then share thoughts tomorrow as well. But you have a couple of my thoughts, shallow though they may be, at the beginning of my post to start off with :D.
