Coldplay - Cake Club Video Of The Week

Featured Replies

Am I late on posting a review??:( sorry , I have been kind of busy the past couple of days

Anyway, I will write my thoughts about the video before I read what has been written before, so as not to get distracted :P

For a start, I love this show, I watch it when I really need to feel good.. It's a great chat with the band, with thoughts on their past, present & future..

The interviewer was really nice ( which is rare)..All of the boys were relaxed & not under any pressure, so they spoke openly & I admired every word they said

Each of the band members had his chance to shine & say what he really felt..that was great because most of the times, it's all about Chris..As much as I love him, I also want to hear what Jonny, Will & Guy has to say..

It was really strange watching Jonny & Will riding a bus & saying they never get recognized :stunned: I loved it when Jonny said that he is only recognized by ppl who are nice!! I think it's great for them, & probably helps to put their feet on the ground..

I realized when I saw that video for the 1st time that this band was truly in it for the long run; they are talented, passionate, ambitious & hardworking.. They are always thinking forward, & don't waste their time bragging about their achievements.. They are always working, even when being interviewed!! I find that really great..

The songs, the editing was quite clever..I never felt bored..In fact I wanted more..

Chris was adorable, Jonny was charming, Will was eloquent as ever & Guy was ..sexy as ever :P

Bono appearence was great :dazzled: saying frankly that Coldplay have raised the standards & upped the ante..coming from someone like him, it felt really special

I was also thrilled to see the words " Peace & Love " written in Arabic on their studio wall :) I wondered whose idea was it... I even asked the oracle back then but she didn't answer :(

If there is anything I missed in that documentary that had to be Phil, I really wanted him to make a real appearence & talk, since he is the 5th member..but..:(

Now I am gonna read all your reviews with no sense of guilt

^I agree.

The interviewer is great, indeed. Nice, and his questions aren't revolutionary, but they're more clever than some usual interviews. He really wants to understand how the band works (I mean how they actually work, but also how this whole thing works, you know what I mean ? :P).

Great review.. there's no time limit.. We'll do another video next weekend.. we have all week to discuss this one.. :)

Yes it would really have been nice to see Phil wouldn't it?

I loved seeing the back stage bit at the Brits and Grammys.. with tonight's Brits looming, it's very interesting seeing what it's like. A bit like the office Christmas Party was how Chris put it, wasn't it?

^Yes, that was very interesting too!!

I like how he explains what celebs mean when they say something, like how they insult each other, they say something like "it's such a great song, I can't believe it's not selling!" :laugh3::laugh3:

I agree, people take him out of context ALL the time.. you read stuff in the papers and you know where it's come from because you've seen the interview, but the way the papers tell it, it means something totally different.

As for that run into the audience ! My god ! Every time I see that I worry! and I KNOW what's going to happen! LOL.. how in heavens name they all kept playing and singing when he was doing that I don't know? they really truly must have thought he was gone for good!!

 that's true, he always has to deal with so much critisism :(

Yeah that run was pretty spectacular :D

Great review :D

I didn't even do a proper review :D

Yeah I missed Phil too

Exactly. It's frustrating sometimes, but what are you gonna do.

I know! I saw, in another thread, a video from a fan perspective of that event, and seriously, it's a miracle he managed to get out in one piece! The fans were just grabbing at him something fierce.

I've no doubt the band was probably a bit worried. They carried on as calm as could be, but I'm quite sure they were thinking, "Uhhhhhh...Chris? Chris? Can one of you guys spot him? Is he still out there?"

Hehe, that's totally okay! Many of our reviews are likely to be similar anyway, it seems we're all noticing a lot of the same good parts.

And like Row said, no, not late at all. Share away!

I fully agree. I was really happy to hear all of them get a chance to equally speak. And like you said, they were so relaxed and honest about everything, too. They got the chance to talk about things they really wanted to discuss, instead of having to do the same ol' interview Q&A. And they got to rib on each other a bit, talk about what the others meant to them and what their career means to them and everything-it was really nice.

It was really strange watching Jonny & Will riding a bus & saying they never get recognized :stunned: I loved it when Jonny said that he is only recognized by ppl who are nice!! I think it's great for them, & probably helps to put their feet on the ground..

Indeed. And like someone else said, there was a freaking camera crew there! And still nobody seemed fazed. But it sounds like that's just how people over there tend to be-they don't seem as impressed by fame as we might here in the States, they don't "oooh" and "ahhh" over it. People seem to enjoy knocking celebrities down a peg or two!

Yes. Bono's compliments about them just warmed my heart. That was a great surprise.

Hear, hear to all of the other stuff! The songs, yeah, I too wish I could've heard more.

Thank you! I was actually wondering about that bit, we should definitely ask the Oracle again!

The Hour?? Or is that too much and too long?

I'd like to watch the Live 2003 Diary but I can't find it anywhere... :\

Oh hmm have you searched in the MM section?

  • Author

Not sure I know 'The Hour' ... do you have links?

As for the 2003 tour diary, I wouldn't think that would be in the MM section, as it's a Coldplay official record, and they don't usually alllow those in there.. ie if you can BUY it, it's not allowed in.. :D

Either or would be good, but everyone needs to be able to watch it.. :D thanks for the suggestions..

I've downloaded videos of The Hour but I don't think I was able to have the whole thing :\

I found a video of a Toronto gig of 2006. Is it the How we see the world gig ? However it is on Youtube, and I don't know if EVERYONE will be able to watch it...:\ Anyway, here's the link

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DmDfFpAt6E&feature=related]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DmDfFpAt6E&feature=related[/ame]

I haven't seen it, either. I'm up for that one if everyone's able to properly view it.

I'm not picky, though. There's a lot of stuff out there that'd be new to me, so I'll go along with whatever everyone else decides :).

I have to see this! :surprised: But it's so late and I have college tomorrow...

Oh but I found it. :wink3: Like it matters, I don't remember any of my milestone posts. :D

It's really amazing, perfect quality. But I don't know if it survived the FBI pillaging.

EDIT: THE HORROR! :bigcry:

Well if you need it, I can upload it ... but not tonight.. I'm asleep now. :D

^^Oh Noes! Those damn feds.

G'night all. I can go to sleep looking forward to watching this tomorrow :)

I watched part of that show before on Youtube and it was epic! I think if you can find the full show, that's a good idea.
