Magic

Featured Replies

I really like the second part of the song. But I think Midnight is still a little bit more awesome than Magic, because, as Corkus pointed out, this new song kinda has that Muse vibe going on lol.

Oh and THE NEW ALBUM COMES OUT IN TWO MONTHS HOLY FORK :bomb:

Still prefer Midnight actually, dark and spiritual, it gives emotions, a great tune definitely. To be honest Magic is just a lame and average song, as a result erratic.

I have a good feeling for the new album though.

When we heard about Ghost stories being false, someone should have seen this and call it out. It's so obvious yet, no one even thought of it.

People did see that, but everyone thought it was a coincidence. I still can't really believe Chris revealed the album name on a plane :|

Definitely diggin this tune over Midnight!!!! It's got a catchy rhythm, no auto tune... Lol I'm a fan! Can't wait for the album.

Am I the only one who hears RAM era Daft Punk influences on Magic?

Yep. The title of the album has been public at least for a while now.

The Chris drawing and then the tweet were someone revealed that Moses was asked about the title by Chris, and he answered correctly by saying Ghost Stories.

LOVING Magic over Midnight also!

The truth is that I did not really liked it

It's a little too tacky and meaningless words ...

I think Midnight is more interesting

But hey Coldplay back!

Magic is too awesome, the track starts boring but the end is phenomenal!

Am I the only one who thinks the beat at the start of Magic hears is awfully similar to the beat from Southbank show in 2009, when they started working on Mylo Xyloto (you can hear the beat Will and Guy make) and it shows them experimenting with Brian Eno?

Mhm, and from 39th minute on, when Will does his finger tap drumming. :)

It might be a lucky find, but is probably more of a coincidence.

For every person who listens to a song there is a unique opinion of it, so I realize I'm just one in a million here, but I have some real gripes with this song.

I love how Coldplay so drastically changes things up with each album, but it was always unique. Now I'm starting to feel like they've made a full transition right into generic pop, which started with Paradise. The way Chris clips the words "you" and "true" in the beginning of the song makes me cringe, and that techno drum line that's reminiscent to Up In Flames is just hard for me to bear. It isn't until 2:33 that I finally feel like it's good ol' Coldplay, which is when Chris goes high and the guitars start to ring in shortly after. Before that, I have to listen to Chris say "and I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't" several times, which really kills me. Even though Coldplay has frequently had some very simple lyrics before, they were always unique and still very catchy, but "I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't" just doesn't cut it for me. Perhaps I'm being too picky, but these guys are my favorites. When their album comes out I drop all else and listen for months. This is what I've been waiting for. I love their look, I love the title "Ghost Stories" a lot, and I'm enjoying their overall theme here, but Magic isn't in any way magical to me at all. I must say, I'm very disappointed so far.

I am so amped. This is great.

I have a feeling this will be the tour that brings back Amsterdam.

Magic was track of the day yesterday on BBCR1
