Setlist Predictions for the future Ghost Stories Tour?

With the announcement today for Ghost Stories, I'm thinking we can probably bank on a tour by the end of the year, if not earlier. This obviously begs the question: What's going to make it on the Set? Therefore, predictions seem plausible. This isn't about what we would want, but rather what could reasonably happen.

There's apparently only nine songs on the album, which equal to the number of songs on MX songs that became regular on the last tour. Assuming there will be 1-2 songs they won't perform from this album (historical pattern), let's assume 7 songs make it from GS. We can safely assume that the big 6 (Yellow, The Scientist, Clocks, Fix You, Viva La Vida, and Paradise) will be on the set too. In My Place, Charlie Brown, and Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall seem to stick around, so there's another 3. Atlas almost seems like a must-have too. That's 17 songs, and assuming that we get a 22 song set (similar to MX), that leaves 5 spots. Let the speculation begin- what else will we get?

- God Put a Smile Upon Your Face seems to be a safe bet (probably with a new version), as does Violet Hill.

- Politik and Talk are edging to make a return after being totally absent from the MX Tour.

- Lovers in Japan and Lost! are viable candidates. In all likelihood, they'll only take one of them if historical patterns from MX are to be looked at. LiJ probably has the advantage, since it got the momentum near the end of the MX tour.

- Speed of Sound has an outside shot, but Chris' distaste for it won't help its cause.

- A non-single will probably make it (a la Warning Sign during MX), although it'd be hard to guess. Amsterdam, followed by Swallowed in the Sea, are obviously the sentimental favourites.

- I'd reckon everything else is unlikely. I could see Trouble returning possibly, but hey, if Daylight and What If can make appearances during MX, who's to say Green Eyes, Strawberry Swing, or Low can't come back?

What do you all think? What songs have the best shot? What's on the bubble?

I say this in every thread, but A Rush of Blood to the Head needs to return this time around. Please, Coldplay. Even just once. I could see it fitting in with the sort of sound Ghost Stories has to offer, so please, please, please Coldplay? Also, A Message.

Politik will 100% return to the setlist, possibly as an opener to the encore as it always sounded great at the start of a set yet they will want to open up with the first track on ghost stories. Bring back Everythings not lost and Life is for living, truly stunning at Glastonbury in 2011

First post here since quiet some time. I love setlist predictions.

To be totally honest, except from Yellow and maybe Everything's Not Lost/Shiver they are not going to bring back songs from Parachutes I expect. Maybe Yellow in a acoustic form?

From AROBTTH, they just have to play Clocks and The Scientist. I think God Put A Smile Upon Your Face doesn't need another re-make so not this tour. Also I don't think they want to play Politik anymore, and to me personally In My Place is done too (was never a favourite for me). I would love to see A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Amsterdam, or Daylight back.

From X&Y, they played so little during the Mylo Xyloto tour. I expect Fix You to still be in the setlist, and hope for a return of Talk, and maybe Speed of Sound. Maybe bring back A Message or Swallowed In The Sea?

From VLV, they just have to play Viva La Vida and Violet Hill. Maybe bring back Strawberry Swing (summer tour), Death And All His friends would be epic, and I see Cemeteries Of London fitting with the new Ghost stories theme. What I really wish for is a premiere for Prospekt's March, I love that song!

From Mylo Xyloto I think it's a hard choiche, I hope they don't brick back: Hurts Like Heaven, Princess Of China, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, and Charlie Brown (Epic songs but so defining for the Mylo Xyloto tour). But maybe an acoustic version of one of those songs? I think they stick with Paradise and Major Minus for the upcoming tour.

So to make a setlist I would love to see for the upcoming arena tour:

Midnight

Always In My Head

Clocks

Major Minus

Another's Arms

Oceans

The Scientist

Cemeteries Of London

Ink

Violet Hill

Talk

A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Strawberry Swing

True Love

Paradise

Yellow (Chris solo on piano)

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Acoustic)

Amsterdam

A Sky Full Of Stars

O

Fix You

Viva La Vida

I don't know how I'd be able to make a set including songs from the new album when I have no idea what they sound like (and I've not really listened to Magic or Midnight much...) but a possible set I could see for the iTunes festival, assuming they don't start playing the rest of the album until closer to its release, could be:

Yellow

Clocks

In My Place

Lovers in Japan

Major Minus

Violet Hill

Talk

Atlas (I really hope they continue to play it, even though it seems unlikely)

Trouble

(A surprise old song, maybe AROBTTH or SITS)

Viva la Vida

Charlie Brown

The Scientist

Midnight

Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall

Paradise

Magic

Fix You

Maybe with one or two new songs slotted in somewhere.

Thinking it could be this, depending on a few factors.

Always in my Head (since it is the album opener)

Yellow (?)

In My Place (?)

Ink

Another's Arms

Violet Hill OR Lovers In Japan OR Lost

Oceans

The Scientist

*

Midnight

True Love

O

*

Viva La Vida

Charlie Brown

Talk

Paradise

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

*

*

Clocks

Fix You

Magic

A Sky Full Of Stars

but... who can really tell this early on when they only have 1 show, and that is not even, like, an actual headline gig....

If the rest of Ghost Stories is anything like Midnight and Magic, I'm having a hard time seeing how the GS tracks will mesh with their other live favorites (Yellow, Fix You)... But I do hope they play more off X&Y than the MX tour. Also, hoping to see songs like Politik, AROBTTH, Strawberry Swing, Swallowed in the Sea, etc. Definitely more excited for the tour than I am for Ghost Stories itself at the moment, if the singles are anything to go by

My prediction for the Itunes Festival setlist:

1. Midnight (Long intro)

2. Clocks

3. Violet Hill

4.-- New Song --

5. Major Minus

6. Charlie Brown

7. Lovers In Japan

8. The Scientist

9. Til Kingdom Come

10. --New Song--

11. Viva La Vida

12. Fix You

13. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

14. Paradise

15. Atlas

16. Magic (Long Outro)

For the ''Ghost Stories Tour'' I'm hoping for a longer setlist (just like during the VLV era) of about 24-28 songs and some good oldies back :) As well as a bit more variations in setlists.

I'm lazy to think of my own but this is spot on! I would just trade Atlas for In My Place and that would be my guess. I also believe they will start with Midnight.. or Always In My Head and play Midnight before the encore starts.

I have been hoping AROBTTH would make a comeback. One I love and Amsterdam would be icing on the cake. I got my Warning Sign so I really cannot ask for another thing, so bring LP6, Let's begin the new journey

I have a feeling we'll be getting more AROBTTH songs this time around. (I really hope I'm right.)
