I want to ask you guys who were also at the gig last night, did many of you end up being late into the show too because of the stupid queue? I walked into the room as Charlie Brown was being played. Luckily at the end of the show I heard some people speaking English so spoke to them and they said I didn't miss much but I'm still annoyed x

YEP my friend, I completely agree. Really nice concert, but guys, really, 1hour... I think it was the shortest of all their concert I've seen.. shorter than Exeter 2009 which was already a sort of "family concert" and was not performed to earn money so.. 3 songs more (and 1 Parachutes song) and it would have been better considering the money people paid.. but well, complaining is useless :) thanks for the nice moments! BTW, awesome Oceans, Midnight, the queens Clocks and Gpasuyf (where I always jump like an idiot) and Green Eyes (maybe the best green eyes version I saw live). Well I have to say I missed them, it was 2 years since my last coldplay concert. Nice public and awesome venue. See you at the next gig!

May 30, 201412 yr Review part 1 I turned 20 on May 21st. My birthday present, as I knew as of May 12, was a ticket to Coldplay at Casino de Paris. Seeing Coldplay live in a small venue has been one of my biggest dreams since I became obsessed with the band, almost 3 years ago. Getting a ticket, and as it turned out, getting inside the actual venue, was an incredible challenge. My father, my dear Coldplay friend Ellen and I all tried the day of the ticket sale, with no luck. A twitter friend, Hélène, managed to get an Early entrance ticket and a greatly located CAT1 seat. She offered to sell me one of the two. As she is pregnant, she wasn't sure until the day before whether she could actually come, and even on the day, there was always a risk she wouldn't feel well enough to handle standing front row and all that goes with it. So we were in quite a special situation but omg I was so grateful to get a ticket, no matter where I would eventually end up in the venue. If you're reading this thank you so so so much again Hélène, I'm forever grateful that you agreed to sell your ticket to me!!! Hélène couldn't come to the venue until the afternoon. I absolutely wanted that the one of us who would keep the Early Entrance get front row – notably because of the particularly high price of the ticket! Therefore I travelled to Paris on the 27th and went to the venue at about 9.30am. On my way to the concert. I bought this parka at Primark before leaving Edinburgh, just because I liked the look of it. I only realised the day of the concert that it actually suited the theme of the album very well :lol: Coldplay really is printed on my unconscious mind :nod: There were already over 30 people queuing – all of them for standing tickets, just a few for Early Entrance, but there was only one queue at that point. I met some friends from Twitter there as well. Really nice to have met you Naïs and Juliette and Romane and everyone :) Solène from Coldplayers.fr had been queuing there from quite early on in the morning and had started a system which consisted in marking with a number the first 40 people in the queue, so nobody would lose their spot if they wanted to get something to eat or go to the bathroom during the day – that's how I know there were already over 30 people queuing. Eventually, before 10am, security installed barriers, as we were queuing on the street (yay for old Parisian venues) and they needed to make sure there was enough space for pedestrians to walk on the pavement. We all stood up. They made us come inside and then opened the office so that the people with regular standing tickets could get their ticket and wristband and then queue (or go away) until the actual opening of the venue. I was really nervous because I had forgotten the printed copy of the email Hélène had sent me confirming the seating ticket, and the signs only mentioned regular standing tickets. Plus, I couldn't see if there was already a queue for Early Entrance tickets outside, in front of the dedicated entrance. Eventually, I managed to get my ticket and wristband. When I went outside, a small queue had started for the Early Entrance tickets, so I joined it – I got marked too, I was 6th in line! Fun story: Throughout the day, it looked like all the tainted glass minivans in Paris went through that street. We were quite anxious to see the band, so they got us paranoid! As I was taking this picture across the street, I saw a black minivan with tainted glass and that read "AIRPORT SHUTTLE ONE" passing by and I freaked out :lol: I immediately turned off my camera and crossed the street again...but of course it wasn't them :lol: It was all so poorly organised. Clearly the venue hadn't realised just how big this event was. The queue for Early Entrance wasn't officially, properly organised by security until later, in the afternoon!!!! Therefore the queue ended up being on both side of the entrance door. A mess. During the day we realised that more and more people were queuing up for this category and in the end it looked like way over 100 (and maybe up to 200) people were able to buy Early entrance tickets. Cray. Anyway. We were right next to the artists' entrance so that was a really good spot to try and figure out what was going on. The Early Entrance line was on the left, and the Artists' entrance was just further left, under the red sign that reads "Casino de Paris". Nice spot, uh? :charming: I had a lovely time meeting some very nice Coldplay fans, and I can assure you that, at least the ones I've met, were actual Coldplay fans *deserving* this Early entrance. One of them bought a white rose as she wanted to try to hand it to Chris during the concert! How sweet! I also got recognised a couple of times. Like "hey you're Coeurli right?" :lol: I felt famous :lol: To be fair I had posted a selfie just before going to the venue so if you follow me on Twitter I was easily recognisable. But now that Coldplay also follows me on Twitter I do feel like Beyoncé, so bow down, please. :gorgeous: An old woman passing by stopped and asked us what this whole mess was about. A lovely woman – so sorry i forgot your name but hey you were so nice and i hope you eventually got a good spot despite entering later than planned! - told her about Coldplay and the concert. The woman said: "I've been living in this area for 44 years and it's the first time I see such a mess and that many people in front of the venue!" Hehehe THAT's what Coldplay does :charming: Hélène eventually arrived between 2 and 3 pm. We met Raphaele and Julie, very nice Coldplay fans!! It was lovely meeting you and hanging out before the concert! We were first expecting the band to arrive at this time in the afternoon, to have time for a soundcheck etc, but we heard from security that they wouldn't arrive until 5-6pm. Solène handed me a small pack of biscuits and IT TOOK ME HOURS TO FINISH IT OHMYGOD SERIOUSLY I kept asking everyone to get my last Granola biscuit for me i swear this was ridiculous At around 5.30 I believe, they finally started to let the Early Entrance people in. I later learnt that Hélène got front row, perfect!!! We started to notice more and more people with AAA laminates – the Graal :wideeyed: – waiting at the artists' entrance. A woman was there with 2 smartphones – ohmygod she's living the dream, 2 phones, a talkie-walkie, she only missed the headset i thought :awesome: . All day long it felt like all the tainted glass minivans in Paris went through our street, but eventually THE minivans arrived. There were at least 3 minivans. AND OHMYGOD. OH. MY GOD. EVERYONE WAS THERE. EVERYONE. They were rather late (i think it was almost 6pm) so they didn't stop and it all went so fast i didn't even have the time to take any picture of them passing by but i saw them all. Chris was in the first van, the closest to the entrance. ADORABLE FUN FACT WARNING: Chris was wearing sunglasses...which still had a label on them, it seemed. Das right, by the looks of it, Chris had just bought sunglasses and forgot to tear the label off :lol::lol: I didn't manage to see if there was anyone with him. In another van I think there were Keshia and...Chloe? And Jonny and Will? Then Phil, with two women I didn't know but who were probably mothers of the band members. He was walking with them it was so sweet. Omg he's so handsome. :dazzled: How can anyone be that handsome is beyond me. He's got cutie written all over his sweet red-cheeked face. :dazzled: Oh, and I almost forgot, blond-Gary-Lightbody..erm I mean Chris' brother whose name I forgot was also there! When I tell you everyone was there, basically only Gwyneth and the kids were unseen and I'm guessing absent. Another van had most of the crew we know so well, they all came out of it one by one and my brain was a mess and I kept sort of shouting their names I think which is rather weird. Such a fangirl! :lol::facepalm: I was like "DAN?! HEY DAN! Hey Milleeer!!! DEBS?! OMG HEY DEBS OMG GUYS DEBS IS HERE!" etc etc hahaha Anchorman was definitely in the lot too but I guess I missed him. Damnit i had written a sign for him in the train on my way to Paris (it said COLDPLAYERS LOVE ANCHORMAN). Hello you perfect person! :dazzled: Lucas had arrived to get his ticket a bit before that. Hey Lucas it was so nice to finally meet you, man! :dazzled: A bunch of us who had seating tickets then went to the brasserie across the street. We had a lovely chat, sharing our Coldplay stories! Too bad we missed the soundcheck though! We read they rehearsed Green Eyes, CRESTS OF WAVES (jesus christ), Ink, and True Love. I had a thought days before the concert that we wouldn't get AROBTTH, but maybe a nice oldie that they've done before, like Green Eyes. It's one of my all time favourite Coldplay songs too! Anyway, we knew the concert was supposed to start at 8.30 and assumed that given how late they arrived and how many people there were queuing, it would probably start at around 8.45. We just didn't realise how many people were actually queuing. We went outside around 7pm, or a bit before that, I believe. And holycrap. Early Entrance had their own queue.....but everyone else had to share the same queue!!!!! I had never seen that many people for a venue of such size, and i don't think anyone in the security crew either! We were told to go to the back of the queue, even though we already had our ticket & wristband and it was past 7pm....the queue stretched over 3 streets!! I'd say at least 800m. Incredible. It was moving quite fast but still, 10 minutes before 8pm – the time written on our tickets – we still weren't even on the street of the venue. Eventually, I asked a security guard and he told me to move forward, pass everyone on the left if i had my ticket & wristband already, so our little group moved forward, and we were inside the venue a bit after 8pm. Phew!!!! The venue is beautiful by the way! Red carpet and chandeliers, huge mirrors...very elegant! The merch stand offered mugs for 15€, t-shirts, jackets, pins...I didn't buy anything though. Sorry the pics are quite blurred from now on, my camera has a problem :( We eventually went to our seats. I was on the mezzanine, row B, seat 2B – and I discovered it wasn't an actual seat, but a fold-up seat, and rather uncomfortable! I didn't plan to seat anyway, but I started to worry nobody else would, as the people around seemed much less motivated and excited than the standing section, which regularly started waves of arms in the air and Viva chants. Still, the atmosphere was electric! I had the same feeling before the concert at the Stade de France. Loved it. Pure excitement. Roadies were finishing to prepare the stage. Matt McGinn in particular got a proper awesome acclaim while checking Jonny's guitar hahaha The view from my seat was REALLY awesome. I was well above the stage but I could see every thing very well and actually i was very close to the Hot Seats tickets. French celebrities who went to the concert didn't even have a better view than I had :lol: I spotted a few people I had queued with and most of them seemed to have a satisfying spot so I was happy for them. I had my blue love button on my jacket, and I was carrying small signs with me. The one I showed the most said COLDPLAY ARE MY TRUE LOVE. The music was very good – electronic kind of music, but the kind I actually want to dance to. Perfect for their show. It went louder and louder and eventually the lights went out AND OMFG ONE OF MY BIGGEST DREAMS CAME TRUE, AS I SAW COLDPLAY LIVE IN A SMALL VENUE. :awesome::awesome:
May 30, 201412 yr Review part 2 I don't often get emotional at concerts and I've never cried. But ohmygod I was teary at almost every song that night. And it wasn't because of the songs themselves, no, it was because I was realising just how lucky I was to witness this and I felt so incredibly blessed and grateful for it. Always in my head is quite an emotional opener too :angry: Goddamint :angry: I took short videos throughout the concert and a few pictures. My camera is stupid though and it's all quite blurry. So yeah most of what I got i useless, but I may post a few to give you an idea. I have specific memories, particular moments, but it's a bit blurry and I don't know in which order exactly some of them took place. So I'll just list some nice moments and thoughts: - I think Chris saw me once or twice at the beginning of the concert maybe, at times when he was looking towards the mezzanine. No direct contact or wave or anything tho. - I heard "I see you" a couple of times, one of them aimed in my direction, so he may have seen me and my Coldplay are my true love sign (i hope he did at some point) The one that you hear clearly in the radio stream wasn't the one aimed at me though. It was aimed at somewhere in the crowd of standing people. He said it another time i believe but you can't hear it distinctly in the stream (definitely during an upbeat song and he was out of breath), and that's when he looked in my direction. - "WE LOVE YOU COLDPLAY" that was me ok you don't hear it really but in one of the blanks you can hear some noises from far away, people going "hgjfghkdfghcoldplaaaaay" well I assure you one of them is me hahahaha :lol: - LASERS LASERS EVERYWHERE OMFG :wideeyed: they would go over the standing crowd and towards us it was amazing to witness sadly i didn't capture much of it but WOW :awesome: - The crowd was better than I had thought it would be, great atmosphere. I listened to the stream in the train on my way back home and honestly it doesn't even do it justice at times. The band seemed to love it too. Really happy to have heard most of GS with this crowd. Even Ink! People were tududuing along! I was so pleasantly surprised -and so were the band -, it was amazing! :wacky: - By the way, I looooooved the arrangement for Ink. :dazzled: - CB dayum that was sort of a surprise for me idk why but omg it's funny how MX songs, especially CB and ETIAW feel familiar and nice to me. It was nice to revisit a great memory in another context. - Viva ohboy did we nail Viva hehehehehehe :charming::awesome: Amazing interaction with the crowd, GREAT sing along, boy do we sound fabulous! Chris went to see Guy as usual, Guy smiled and omg when Guy smiles puppies are born he's too adorable :dazzled: Chris asked a man to take his tie off :lol: he was like "you can take off the tie, man!" and the man took off his tie and threw it around! Hilarious! :laugh3: - ALSO OMFG HE WAS LIKE "Voulez-vous chanter avec nous" CHRIS OMG YOU SAID IT SO MANY TIMES OHBOY FANGIRL ME DIDNT THINK SHE COULD SURVIVE BUT SOMEHOW I DID :dead: It was the most adorable, genuine, amazing thing. You could feel just how happy Chris was. :wacky: - Just before Midnight I think, at the end of the song they just performed, Chris basically dropped everything and went backstage without a word. He came back at least 15 to 30 seconds later, when Midnight started. I think he just needed to wipe some sweat off and get some water. - Midnight was the least fav one, I think everyone liked it a lot but there wasn't much sing along, people were attentive and looking at the stage and in awe, but not really singing or dancing. It was great though and it sounded better than the performances i had watched, it sounded weirdly cool. Also the laser harps were cool - They did play GREEN EYES!! :awesome::dazzled::wacky: Have you heard that arrangement? I was very surprised and it sounded really good. Apparently it was for someone's birthday? Perhaps someone suggested to play the song earlier today? - After listening to the concert again I think that it's one of my favourite versions of Clocks. Loved the little variations on Chris' voice. It's also one of my all time favourite Coldplay songs (I could even say 3rd all time favourite), and it always means a lot to hear it live :wacky: - As mentioned earlier, when I was queuing with the Early Entrance people, one of them bought a white rose somewhere and she said she wold try and give it to Chris and GUESS WHAT????? IT HAPPENED! I SAW IT FROM MY SEAT!! :awesome: She handed the rose over to him and HE TOOK IT AND KEPT IT AND IT WAS FUNNY AND CUTE AND OMG :awesome: but then he threw it away lollol - Chris shaved/waxed his tummy but ohmy those abs :wideeyed: :dazzled: - a bit of Buckin: traditional GPASUYF mating dance, then omg at some point in ASFOS and during Green Eyes as well I believe? You'll need to check the vids (the good ones, not mines, haahaha!). There's a nice moment where Chris goes close to Jonny and they casually play music together, Chris smiling and everyone melting :wacky: - OMG I NEED TO FIND A VIDEO OF A MOMENT I DONT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHICH SONG MAYBE AA???!!! BUT OMG CHRIS MOVING HIS HIPS IN THE MOST SENSUAL WAY I SWEAR HIS DEHANCHE WAS HAWT LIKE OMG I DIDNT REALISE IT AFTER A FEW SECONDS LIKE WAIT WAAAAT WHAT IS HE DOING OH HEY CHRIS THAT IS HOT :dead: - the confetti in ASFOS ohmy that was beautiful a few fell in the first seating rows so i got just a few of them - ASFOS was definitely a highlight by the way. With this amazing crowd, and the band's energy, I was really happy to experience it live. I jumped and danced and sang so much. I loved every second of it. :drunk: :drunk: - According to a setlist, they hesitated between O and Fix You. I would have LOVED to witness O but at the same time i kinda really wanted to hear Fix You. I needed to hear that one live again, especially now, at this particular time in my life. It felt really good. Teary as well. Not full on crying but that was definitely close haha Would have been perfect if they could have played both but ohwell i can't really complain about the concert tbh. - I got yet another reminder of how blue Chris' eyes are when after the concert he kissed the stage and looked up to the crowd again and it suddenly struck me just how incredibly blue his eyes are. I mean you could really notice the beautiful blue from where I was, on the mezzanine! :dazzled: - OMG THEN SO CUTE AND FUNNY: so they said goodbye etc, Will, Jonny and Guy left the stage on one side whilst Chris went to the other side, then stopped and turned around, smiling/laughing like: wait what so we're going that way after all?!/where are we going guys? And he ran to the other side :lol: he was so cute :lol: - People were clapping and wooing and everything during the O outro but I didn't follow that for a while I just stood there, very emotional, closing my eyes and singing Don't ever let go Don't ever let go ok :angry: Don't you dare :angry: - when we got out, Lucas and I were thinking of tearing off one of the posters on the wall of the venue but thought we shouldn't and it would be too much of a pain. 5 minutes later some fans took it :| - one thing we were talking about with Lucas, is how they've actually managed to make us not miss the xylobands. The new set, stage, the lasers and new confetti and most importantly the actual concert itself.....I sure do love xylobands and would love to see them back, but I didn't particularly miss them during the concert. I remember that I used to think "wow if they don't use the xylobands for the next tour they're going to have to step up their game and find a way to somehow be even better"...Well, looks like they found a way :| and it's awesome :awesome: So, despite the organisation being absolute crap, the actual concert was an absolutely amazing, mindblowing experience for me. I loved every second of it and again I feel extremely grateful and lucky and happy to have been there. I want to thank Hélène again and everyone I've queued with and met that day, Coldplay are a great band and they attract great people too! Coldplay have this one particular connection with the audience, something other bands just don't have, which makes any Coldplay performance, be it short, be it in a stadium or a small venue, an impressive and unique show. They somehow really feed from the audience's excitement as well, and their energy is amazing. That night we could really feel this special connection with the audience, and they nailed it. We were all in this together. It wasn't just Chris singing, the band playing and us singing along. It was almost as if Chris had invited everyone on stage. I am so proud of them and of the fans that were there that night. You all delivered amazingly and I couldn't have dreamt for a better way to turn 20. I lived abroad those past 9 months. I had an incredible experience, met people that have truly made a difference in my life. Hell, I even met 3/5 members of Coldplay! This past year was so very important to me. It was filled with so many things, and one very stable and important element of it was Coldplay. Their music has accompanied me through happiness and sadness and loneliness and fun and nostalgia. I moved out of Scotland on May 24, earlier than planned, to be in a more convenient place to travel to Paris if I ever got tickets for this concert. I then learnt of their appearance at Glasgow's Big Weekend, which took place the day I moved. So, it meant the world to have this ticket as a 20th birthday pesent. Because it was my year. The year where dreams have come true and I started spreading my wings and learning to fly or any other ridiculously cheesy analogy you have in mind. Getting a ticket and actually getting into the Parisian venue was a long emotional, psychological, hell even physical journey, but it was so worth it. Everything is worth seeing my favourite band live. One perfect way to finish this incredible year. I remember that after the Stade de France, I wrote that I just knew I would see Coldplay again, it was just a matter of booking the place and time. One year, 8 months and 28 days later, it happened. Just tell me another date and place and I'll be there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
