hey Nik, what do you think of Jetstream by Thom Yorke?

i've downloaded it, listened to it once and that's all. not really in The Eraser mood right now

though Jetstream reminds of some released (Where Bluebirds Fly) and unreleased - EMI blocked them? - (The Gloaming 33.33333 remix) HTTT b-sides

I don't even hear a resemblance. Either way, I love the Killers.

I can NOT wait until Sam's Town. I'm really excited about their tour.

They were headling one of the date last year at the 1st ever Across The Narrows festivals here in NYC.. they came on right after Interpol... :( I left right after Interpol..

I wouldn't have minded seeing the performance... but had I stayed.. I would have never met Carlos D. on the Staten Island ferry :wink3:

I have to admit.. I fell in love with these cats waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before they became so mainstream. Then the novelty wore off for me.. but I'm curious to hear more new stuff... the previews sound promising.

Their new album is going to be amazing. You'll probably fall in love with them all over again ;)

You sit there in your heartache

Waiting on some beautiful boy to

To save you from your old ways

You play forgiveness, watch it now here he comes

He doesn't look a thing like Jesus

But he talks like a gentleman like you imagined when you were young

I think the Killers are overrated

very good point. they are not terrible, Killers are even better than some similar american bands like Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy. but they are very overrated

they're quite good, but not one of my favourite bands.......

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! *breathe!!!*

The Killers just announced US tour dates :stunned:

MP3 Live: The Killers go Pop

Vegas rockers, sporting a Spaghetti Western-goes-mod look, unveil their new album at San Francisco's vaunted Popscene party.

The Killers want to talk to you. Each of you.

And if history is any guide--the Las Vegas quartet's 2004 debut Hot Fuss has sold more than three million copies--there are a lot of you out there.

In a secret show last night at the 10th anniversary of San Francisco's Popscene, the venerable Brit pop/indie rock party that has built a rep on booking bands on the verge of blowing up, the Killers performed tracks from their sophomore album Sam's Town, which hits stores October 3. The new record is filled with more of the same formulaic but oh so catchy mod rock, and frontman Brandon Flowers' lyrics continue to make a point of engaging the crowd directly, layering each track with references to "you" and "your."

The Killers last played Popscene 26 months ago, before props from mega-stars like U2 and Coldplay and a series of monster hits turned them into rock stars themselves. This time around, the band eschewed its previous clean cut look for a hairier--make that much hairier--style, with each band member sporting facial hair and a sort of Deadwood-goes-Brit pop fashion sense.

But while the look was decidedly different, the sound was the same, with Flowers and company sticking to a formula that largely goes like this: a brief, shy intro, usually with just Flowers on keys and vocals, followed by a building 80s synth-driven rhythm and then a swirling sea of guitars and throbbing bass, with Flowers' engaging lyrics taking center stage.

The Killers played several new songs last night that stuck to that formula and seem destined for the sort of cult status gained by Hot Fuss hits like "Somebody Told Me," "All These Things That I've Done," and "Mr. Brightside." Given the spirited response from the fickle Popscene crowd, we can expect a slew of more hits, starting with "When You Were Young," the first single off Sam's Town.

"We get a lot of attention for negative things, so we're really happy to be here on a positive night where we can focus on the music," Flowers said early in the set, eluding to the band's seeming love of controversy, given its off-and-on rivalries with The Bravery and Fall Out Boy and the February breach of contract lawsuit filed against the band by its former manager.

New songs "For Reasons Unknown" and "Read My Mind" seemed to follow the propulsive blueprint of the previous hits and will likely be commanding sing-alongs along the lines of "All These Things That I've Done" ("I've got soul but I'm not a soldier") and "Mr. Brightside" ("I just can't look its killing me").

On a new track called "Enterlude," Flowers took his rules of engagement to a new level: "Outside the sun is shining/seems like heaven ain't far away/It's good to have you with us/even if it's just for the day."

So the Killers are back, hairier but with a new album full of music that Hot Fuss fans will eat up. This is modern rock music, blueprint-style, and it works exceedingly well.

Can't believe I missed out on Blackpool tickets today!!! :bigcry:

- although saying that, there are so many fans that couldn't even get through to buy tickets, and then (due to 10 tickets being allowed to be bought at once) those fucking touts snapped them all up so fast that many big fans now don't have the chance to go, which really sucks.

There are tons of tickets on ebay already going for hundreds, some even thousands , it's rediculous.

Ah well...always next time I guess!

No luck for me, they'll be nowhere close. I figured they'd hit Nashville, which is less than an hour away from my school...

Still, "When You Were Young" is a terrific song. The video is a little meh, but I can't wait for the album.

One more thing...I've not seen much...scratch that. I've not seen ANY mention of their B Sides! Surely I'm not the only one here who has them. "Indie Rock and Roll" is a fabulous song, and "Under the Gun" is a great rock piece. "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" (a Morissey cover), and The Ballad of Michael Valentine are great, too.

E mail me if you want any Killers B Side love!

^Yep their b-sides are fab

Not b-sides, but i've always loved 'Oh yeah by the way' and 'Who Let You Go', such a fab songs :nice:

Ok seriously, it's starting to really kill me (excuse the pun!) that I can't go on Friday....I can't stop thinking about it....i've even looked at rediculously priced tickets on ebay

This is like, the saddest i've ever felt about missing a gig....ok except maybe Glasto '05....but seriously this is craaapppp

They better announce UK tour dates SOON! :(

*continues feeling sorry for self*

:veryangry: noooooooooooooo, why did I just found out today about the US dates!!!

I can't believe I didn't see this before!! And naturaly the tickets for LA are all sold out. I was looking forward to seeing them live! :bigcry: :bigcry:

And it was the day before the Keane concert, maybe I wouldn't have been able to go anyways, there is no way my dad would drive me one day come back and then drive up there again. life sucks:sad:

This is the perfect end to an already crap day.

Oh no bummer! better luck next time guys.

i love spaghetti westerns- i like their look in the new vid and the vid itself :)
