So, I just listened the album...

I've been very hard on the band for the direction they've taken over the past 10 years, and at times I even resented them. But this time... I agree with what's been said here: it's the best thing they've done since MX, and I would even say since VIVA. I even place it above EL because the album flows seamlessly from start to finish.

It's really good. As an 'Oldplayer,' it's a huge surprise; it brings out real emotions, it's well-constructed, and it unfolds like a story. The melodies are very well-crafted, and there are some truly spacey sounds.

'One World' is a stunner, and 'Moon Music' too... This album is insane. Thank you, Coldplay, you've just erased 10 years of disappointment.

Obviously, it's not an indie album, but it blends genres beautifully. The fact that there aren't any superstar features like BTS or Beyoncé, or short, frustrating tracks, is a real pleasure.

There's a real sense of risk-taking and self-reflection here—well done, guys. Total respect.

My favourites are the ambient ones, first, last song and rainbow. We pray has a really great melody, not so fond of all my love, and i thought that one would be my favourite. Jupiter is sweet but this ambient ones are so special

I agree. "One World" is so emotional and deep, although I don´t understand the last bit, it´s out of place for me.

"All my love" is great, Chris´voice is so beautiful there, buuut, I miss a little more guitar from Jonny at the end, with that it would have been a huge song.

As somebody said, they have never started an album with a song like "Moon Music", and it makes me believe again in Chris´potential for writing better lyrics. I didn´t hear the rainbow song yet.

Oh wow! As an OldPlayer, this makes me very happy.

I disliked MotS and AHFOD. I had hope after EL but then we know what happened after that. So hearing about this gives me so much hope.

That said, it looks like they are still doing the whole pop album, Coldplay album, pop album, Coldplay album thing. Does this mean that Vol 3 will suck? 😄

I don’t want to influence your opinion, but I think you’ll feel the same joy as I did. 

And yes, clearly, there was probably not the same commercial pressure on this album as there was for MOTS.

Really love the new mix and tempo for the studio version of Good Feelings but I absolutely miss one thing from the older version of it - “the wooohooo” before each chorus. It was mad catchy

So I plan on putting my track rankings and thoughs on there later but for now after just listening to the album on a beautiful and sunny fall day and looking at changing leaves, which may sway my rankings, I agree with folks that this is a really good album that will probably sit up with MX, Everyday Life and X&Y for me. (My favorites are parachutes, viva and AROBTTH) -- so definitely feeling like I may enjoy this record more than AHFOD and GS and DEFINITELY a huge leap over MOTS. 

I don't want to spoil to much here -- we're only about a day away anyways, but the biggest surprise to me on this album is that it does try to address a question and a striving to feel like everything in this crazy world makes sense, and so that means there are moments that feel actually fun and moments that feel extraordinarily meloncholy. I idenfitied with it more than I thought I would, for any critics out there saying it's dumb and cheesy or just "Live, Laugh, Love," they are the exact people that this music should reach.

The Voice Memo disc from the Notebook edition? That was the first thing that came to mind.

Based on that I doubt this little bonus record contains anything we haven't heard before.
