“MY UNIVERSE” MAKES HISTORY AS FIRST HOT 100 #1 BY TWO CO-BILLED LEAD GROUPS Coldplay have today earned their second Billboard Hot 100 #1, their first since 2008, with their hit new collaboration “My Universe” with BTS. The single makes history as the first Hot 100 #1 ever by two co-billed lead groups, in addition to topping the Digital Song Sales, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts. “My Universe” has also shattered records internationally, achieving the biggest first week download number in the UK this year and debuting at #1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. The single also finished the week at #3 on the Official UK Charts and was the #1 most viewed song on YouTube last week with a total of 76.6 million combined views across uploads. “My Universe” is taken from Coldplay’s forthcoming album Music Of The Spheres, which arrives on October 15th.

Helmed by superstar director Dave Meyers - who also directed Coldplay’s Higher Power video - the My Universe clip is set in the distant galaxy of The Spheres where music is forbidden, but BTS, Coldplay and an alien supergroup called Supernova 7 unite via hologram to defy the ban… My Universe is taken from Coldplay’s forthcoming album Music Of The Spheres, which arrives on October 15th. Since its release on Friday, My Universe has already been streamed more than 100 million times and topped sales and airplay charts around the world. Coldplay also unveiled two new versions of My Universe, their hit collaboration. The stripped back Acoustic Version of the track is available here, while the Supernova 7 mix, created by Coldplay's Guy Berryman, can be streamed here. Meanwhile, a short film documenting the recording of My Universe in BTS’s Seoul studio alongside Coldplay’s Chris Martin premiered yesterday on the South Korean group’s YouTube channel, at https://youtu.be/viM_c-Fc7sc. My Universe, which hit Number One on iTunes in 95 countries upon its release last week, has already been heralded by NME as “a sparkling single”, with Billboard praising the “galaxy-sized collaboration” and USA Today calling it “another surefire hit”.

Coldplay have today announced their much-anticipated collaboration with BTS. My Universe will be released on September 24th. The track, sung in both English and Korean, was written by Coldplay and BTS and produced by Max Martin. My Universe follows Coldplay’s worldwide hit Higher Power as the second single to be taken from the band’s forthcoming album Music Of The Spheres (out October 15th).

Coldplay have today confirmed the release of their much-anticipated new album, Music Of The Spheres. The band's ninth LP will hit stores and streaming services on October 15th, 2021. The band announced the Max Martin-produced albumon Instagramvia a handwritten note alongside an album trailer (available on YouTube) The band’s note also seemed to hint at further sci-fi themes with the phrase 'Everyone is an alien somewhere'. In May, the band released Higher Power - the first single from Music Of The Spheres - which has been streamed more than 160 million times. The band’s note also revealed the imminent release of an album track called Coloratura on Friday, to be followed by a new single in September. Coldplay have today premiered the jaw-dropping, intergalactic video for their recent single, Higher Power. The video is available to watch on YouTube at https://youtu.be/3lfnR7OhZY8 now. Helmed by superstar director Dave Meyers - whose credits include Taylor Swift, Travis Scott and Billie Eilish - the Higher Power video sees the band exploring a colorful trash planet named Kaotica, whose alien language (Kaotican) features in the video and across the Higher Power artwork. Kaotica is populated by robot dogs, giant holograms and a street-gang of dancing aliens, performed by Seoul’s Ambiguous Dance Company. 19.mp4 Said Meyers: “The video is a metaphor for how, right now, we all feel alienated, far removed from our world, almost like we’re on an alien planet. And ultimately we find love in the streets and that euphoria shoots us off into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.” Since its release last month, Higher Power has already been streamed more than 75 million times and topped sales and airplay charts around the world. The video made its global broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and across MTV’s global network of channels, as well as on the ViacomCBS Times Square billboard. This also marks Coldplay's first video shot and published in UHD. Yellow was previously re-scanned in UHD and uploaded for the 20th anniversary of Parachutes. However, it seems to have reverted back to 720p.
