  2. I love both versions. Yet the fact is PoC is a song about heartbreak, and the acoustic version is much, much more emotional. It fits in the context far better.
  3. The GS3 was effectively built as the budget Android version of the iPhone, and in all fairness, it is equally as good; if not even better than the phone it was designed as competition to. The GS3 is approximately £150 cheaper and yet has a bigger display, a far superior camera and display quality, is a nicely phone aesthetically and has access to 99% of the apps iPhone users have. I can't say it is BETTER than the iPhone but it definitely is as good as it.
  4. Orange have said they only 'hope' to cover 98% of the United Kingdom by November 2014. I wouldn't quite go out and buy your 4G devices yet, guys. It's available in approx. 35% of the country right now, and that won't change until next summer.

  6. I honestly don't know how any United fan could celebrate that result. They didn't win the game, the officials won it for them. Feel very sorry for Chelsea supporters right now.
  7. Happy birthday to my favourite Coldplay record!
  8. Every Teardrop - it just defines the colour and vibrancy of the MX era!
  9. Yeah. A whole four notes similar in the two songs. Total rip-off.
  10. High Speed A Whisper X&Y Yes UFO
  11. The duelling guitar and piano on Speed of Sound!
  12. Coldplay would support U2, not the other way round, lol. Would love to see Mumford and Sons open up for them though.
  13. Probably been used, but a funny one: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For... in my pants!

  16. Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, U2, Slipknot.
  17. Love both parts but I'd love to hear a stripped down a capella version.
  18. I would say it comfortably sits amongst the band's top 10, but it isn't their absolute best song.
  19. Love this album. In fact, I love it as much as I love Hybrid Theory and A Thousand Suns. I love all of their material, but this ranks amongst their best stuff, for sure!
  20. Sorry, was that an article, featuring explicit and in-depth analysis and portrayal of an argument, or merely a collection of statements offering nothing whatsoever? I'm sure it is the latter.
  21. Could just be an edit released as a radio single.
  22. Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven - I just love all 43 seconds of MX. It is a euphoric crescendo of piano, guitar and xylophone and the 'So Cold, So Cold' refrain of Hurts Like Heaven in the background creates quite a haunting ambience to it. It is just a short outpouring of musical joy. HLH is a rip-roaring, feel-good anthem that is a purpose-built arena opener. The guitar riff towards the close reminds me of Bruce Hornsby and the Range - some classic piano rock for you there! The only fault to find with HLH is that it is a chorus and verse too short - 10. Paradise - the song that lays the blueprint for much of the album; it builds and builds into something truly spectacular. At first I liked it; now I love it. It is the song that defines the MX era at the same time as showcasing the best of the band's musical talent. - 10. Charlie Brown - Coldplay typically have a strong triumvirate of songs to open up an album, and the climatic part of MX's opening gambit is probably the album's strongest point. To many it sums up everything that is wrong with the 'new' Coldplay, as it is the absolute antithesis of anything they have previously done. But that's why, to me, it is brilliant - it is totally original, and its absolutely fantastic. 10. Us Against The World - after the explosive beginning of the album, Chris steps to the fore with a stripped-back, feel-good number which acts as a sobering point after the emotional high of the first three (well, technically four) songs. Its a heart-felt ballad - and the contrast with the songs that envelope it makes the song truly great when you listen to MX in a single go. As a stand-alone song it is Coldplay by numbers, but when you listen to it in the context of the album it stands out as a relaxing song that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. 8. MMIX/Every Teardrop - I kind of think of MMIX as an elevator. Because you have these roaring synths that increase in pitch throughout the duration of the song, and then suddenly the doors open and you're greeted with the opening chords of Every Teardrop. People remain unconvinced by Every Teardrop, but it is my favourite Coldplay song, and my favourite part of Mylo Xyloto. I can't help but smile when I hear it; I can't help but nod my head to Will's bass drum throughout the verses; I can't help but sing the refrain after the bridge. It is another one of those feel-good anthems built for stadium venues, and it makes me feel good no matter how bad I feel. I absolutely adore this song! 10. Major Minus - I first heard this song as part of the ETIAW EP and I liked it because of it being very similar to Talk; it is a heavier sounding song to the rest of the album, where the atmospheric, U2-/The Edge-style guitar is the main component. It is basically Jonny plugging in his guitar, turning it up to 10 and letting his hands do all the talking. The Bucking moment of the album is that crazy solo at the end, awesome stuff. Even better live. 9. UFO - another one of those contrasting songs, UFO is a slow-paced guitar-driven ballad that sounds okay by itself, but brilliant when you sandwich it between Major Minus and Princess of China. It's a feel-good, laid-back "bridge" between two stadium anthems, and one of the more emotive and touching parts of the record. 7.5. Princess of China - I was not at all a fan of this song when the album was first released, but it has definitely, definitely grown on me. Rihanna on a Coldplay album?! Blasphemy! The thing is, it works. Jonny's guitar part, built in with the "ooooh-oooohs" from Rihanna sound brilliant. The synths make it current yet maintaining the same sort of Coldplay-crescendo-ethos of building the song up. Rihanna and Chris compliment each other much better than I thought they would. 8.5. Up In Flames - "So it's over". This song is absolutely brilliant. The come-down from the emotional high of what came before it, this is Chris singing his heart out. It is a fantastic, sing-along moment. What this song does is quite incredible, because at the same time as being a truly beautiful, sentimental song, it somehow doesn't deter from the energy of the album. On a record that begins and ends in euphoria, this moment of sobriety does not at all sound out of place. 10. A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let It Break Your Heart - another song that has split Coldplay fans, I quite like it. In fact I like it a lot. It is a song designed to be sang back to the band by 50,000 people. It is the happy moment of Mylo Xyloto - this album's own Swallowed in the Sea. 8.5. Up With The Birds - Love it, love it, love it. The perfect way to end MX. It is a synthesis of everything that makes this album such a contrasting experience - it has the slow-placed beginning which echoes Up In Flames, before building up into something you can imagine being snippeted into Yellow. It is another one of those catchy numbers, and whereas the band have typically ended their records with sobering anthems such as Amsterdam, this one suggests a very happy ending for the protagonists. - 9 Overall - 9/10.
