Does anyone know what kind of strings and gauge Chris and Johnny use?

Who is it (and how!) that creates the really ambient sounds that feature in certain songs (most noticeably in Clocks and Speed of Sound). Is this a studio trick? Im really interested to find out how they achieved such an effects, they really do add to the songs. Especially when the guitar/piano drops out leaving just bass and drums in the verses. Thanks

OK please tell me if this is a stupid question...! Right. Ive been playing the guitar for about a month and after playing various songs on a standard tuning i now want to play other stuff with different tuning ie coldplay's stuff, lots of which seems to be on alternative tuning! :) i understand that u do this by adjusting the strings to the different notes, i have a pretty standard automatic guitar tuner, is it possible to tune the guitar using this or do i need a different sort of tuner or is there another way around it? Any advice from more seasoned players would be very appreciated! :guitarist:

i found a tab at ultimate guitar but i think it's not accurate i'm pretty sure the tuning is EA?GBC with a capo on 1rst fret so it becomes FA#?G#CC#. ...yes, the question mark means i don't know what is the tuning for the 4th string. i think it 's D (D# with the capo) but i'm not sure. Does anyone had an attempt at tabbing this wonderful song ? thanks

ive got to sing Everything's Not Lost in about 2 weeks and im dead nervous does anyone have any singing tips? i can usually hit the highest notes...but not the lowest part of the high part (as in, the end of "ah ah yeAH" lol), because its the lowest part of my high (falsetto?) voice. whether it sounds ok seems to depend on what ive eaten before hand... anyone know how i could clear my throat before the show? (like gargle hot water?)

Any suggestions? I want to just have a link for people to click on y'know. It seems like a lot of places have limited amounts of downloads. Crep.

Just curious - how do you get the standard coldplay sound (Jon Buckland's sound)? I know you've got alot of delay there, but there seems to be alot of reverb or something that sounds like you are playing in a huge concert hall - seems like alot of echo there. Kind of a mello dronning sound. I hear it alot in "Shiver" Thanks!!

Hi I saw this photo on Hot and Coldplay and was wondering what song they would be playing. As far as I know, Jonny only sings on daylight and thats not the guitar he uses for playing daylight. Any ideas?
