Cities in northern England such as Liverpool, Sunderland and Bradford are "beyond revival" and residents should move south, a think tank has argued. Policy Exchange said current regeneration policies were "failing" the people they were supposed to help. A mass migration to London, Cambridge and Oxford would stop them becoming "trapped" in poorer areas, it said. One of the report authors acknowledged it may be seen as "barmy". A Liverpool MP called it "utter nonsense". Policy Exchange is one of the most influential right-of-centre think tanks and it has been credited with much of the fresh thinking behind the revival of the Conservative Party under David Ca…

According to WMC, a Shelby County sheriff's deputy responded to call from Hayes' wife after she found him on the floor near a treadmill inside their home. 13. I just saw this on a news site.... so very very strange!!! :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::shocked2: Villagers were shocked after a monkey-like piglet was born in China. Curious locals flocked to the home of owner Feng Changlin after news of the piglet spread in Fengzhang village, Xiping township. "It's hideous. No one will be willing to buy it, and it scares the family to even look at it!" Feng told Oriental Today. He says the piglet looks just like a monkey, with two thin lips, a small nose and two big eyes. Its rear legs are also much longer than its forelegs, causing it to jump instead of walk. Feng's wife said the monkey-faced pi…

Reginald Peterson ordered a Spicy Italian Sub with the works. Sandwich artists put mayo on mustard on it, but no sauce. That put Peterson over the edge and he called 911 to complain. He called a second time to complain officers weren't arriving fast enough. Subway workers told police the 42-year-old became belligerent and yelled when they were fixing his order. They locked him out of the store when he left to call police. When officers arrived, they tried to calm Peterson and explain the prope…

Nigerian Mohammed Bello Abubakar, 84, has advised other men not to follow his example and marry 86 women. The former teacher and Muslim preacher, who lives in Niger State with his wives and at least 170 children, says he is able to cope only with the help of God. "A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them," he told the BBC. He says his wives have sought him out because of his reputation as a healer. "I don't go looking for them, they come to me. I will consider the fact that God has asked me to do it and I will just marry them." But such claims have alienated the I…

  17. A header four minutes from time by Linas Pilibaitis gave Kaunas a dramatic victory over Rangers, leaving the Ibrox side out of European competition. Kevin Thomson put Rangers ahead in the 33rd minute when he collected a Nacho Novo pass inside the box and fired past Kaunas goalkeeper Marian Kello. But Nerijus Radzius equalised with a tremendous 30-yard free-kick just two minutes before half-time. The killer blow for Walter Smith's side came as Rangers played for the draw. Smith opted for just one player up front, Kenny Miller given the task of securing the vital away goal. With Rangers' experience last season in snatching results away from home in Europe, the pla…

I first heard Lauren Laverne talking about synaesthesia on Jonathan Ross' radio show about a month ago. Today I read this on the BBC website. If you go to this page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7545888.stm You can play the test to see if you hear anything. 'Can anyone hear that picture?' US scientists have discovered people who can "hear" what they see. The rare form of synaesthesia - a condition where senses intermingle - came to light after a student reported "hearing sounds" from a screensaver. Researchers at the California Institute of Technology then found three more people with the same condition, New Scientist magazine reported. Th…
