January 2, 201313 yr Windhaven, by George RR Martin and Lisa Tuttle. I was quite annoyed to see GRRM using the same tricks (I've read the published books of ASOIAF and some short stories by him). The first quarter of the book is also quite bland, but it's now getting more interesting. To be perfectly honest, I'm finishing it because it's not possible for me to not finish a book once I started.
January 3, 201313 yr Still on A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin, but feeling really tempted to rush through the book and read The Hobbit again. o.o
January 3, 201313 yr ^ That's verging on criminal, misus. The Hobbit is nowhere near as interesting as "A Storm Of Swords", imo, except maybe for that part where the dwarves deal with Smaug and a few mishaps in the forest of Mirkwood. I'm glad I read the book before the movie came out because I'd probably die of boredom reading it now.
January 3, 201313 yr I don't think they're comparable at all, I've read The Hobbit 5 times so far and I didn't get bored. They're different things to me, but if I were to choose, I'd always choose Tolkien. :p
January 3, 201313 yr Okay, I might be doing it injustice by saying it's utterly boring, but is it really a good idea to sweep through an enormous book like ASOS just because you're feeling impatient to read another book which you have been through a hundred times? Not to mention that ASOS is probably the most interesting part of ASOIAF and it would be such a shame to miss any of it. I do like Tolkien and value LOTR above any book of GRRM's but I wouldn't just ditch that book in question in order to re-read the Hobbit.
January 5, 201313 yr I'm not reading anything, but I was thinking about starting The Lord of the Rings, as I've never actullay read it... I'm just a little nervous 'cause I know the movies so well...

January 10, 201313 yr Just finished The Hobbit for the third time. Now I'm reading The Children of Húrin for the second time.
January 12, 201313 yr ^ I've been meaning to read it for a while now. There's always something in the way.
January 13, 201313 yr ^ I've been meaning to read it for a while now. There's always something in the way. That's what always happens, I've got such a high pile of books to read and I keep buying them :freak:
