Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

Rococo was one of my favorites when The Suburbs first released, though I admit it's kind of a momentum killer live.

You can't deny that at least this performance isn't outstanding. This brings back a little bit of my hope, particularly because it brings me back to Neon Bible in its sound. :)

^That's not Arcade Fire.

Just got back from their ACL TV taping. The sound system in this venue is outstandind! Will was insane! They have fake trees at the back of their set. Will pulled one out and used it to beat the drum. Ha.

The Suburbs has some subpar moments like Rococo, but there still are a lot of great songs. Overall, I like the album.

I hate that stupid song. UGH.

Rococo is great; musically, it shows the Arcade Fire I've come to know and love. We Used To Wait and Ready To Start... not so much.

Wha?! We Used To Wait is one of my all time favourites. It's brilliant!

Also congratulations to the band on winning the Polaris Prize! Well deserved!

I think it's a pathetic excuse for an Arcade Fire song.

Woah! I don't think it warrants such an extreme view!

...Are you insane? Rococo over Ready to Start and We Used to Wait?

...

...Yup. Definitely insane.

the new interactive video! :bomb::bigcry: my hands are tired from hand-dancing! :wacky:

Yes! One of my all time favourite songs! About time it was given a video!

We Used to Wait > Rococo > Ready to Start

No disrespect to RTS, but it's lousy as a live opener.

And Sprawl II vids = Lovely. <3

What's a few good introductory songs to Arcade Fire? Good enough for someone to think 'hey, they aren't half bad'. Maybe a few good live versions.

My boyfriend has never heard of them (what?! that's crazy talk).

He was also shocked when I said I saw them in Hyde Park. He was like "They sold out Hyde Park? they must be pretty big"

I can't believe he doesn't know them at all.

I'd hand him Funeral and a couple of tracks off The Suburbs... perhaps Ready to Start. That one's nice. :)

So there is an Arcade Fire thread too? :P

Recently I fell in love with them, now they're my 2nd favourite band. :wacky:

Sprawl II, Intervention, No Cars Go, Ready To Start, Rebellion I would say.

Nice one on seeing them at Hyde Park! Saw them at Edinburgh Castle myself - what an occasion it was!

People don't like the Suburbs? :o

It's probably my favorite AF album. :wacky:

But I really like Funeral and Neon Bible too.

Yeah, he thinks he heard a few songs from them at oxegen from afar... that's about it. Funeral seems like a good idea. I adore Neon Bible, but I think he'd be a tad wtfish.

... never show him miroir noir. He'd be really wtfish then :|

And I missed their concert in Zagreb :blank:

I hate when that happens D; hopefully you'll still be a fan when they come back.

If I'm honest the crowd wasn't that good D; and it showed. Maybe because it was such a big show, they couldn't connect with the crowd?

The crowd at their Dublin show was just so much more awesome  it was much smaller though. Everyone was so into it and singing every single song. They looked so happy and kept saying "We're so fucking happy to be here". I may be biased, but Irish crowds are great.

I say Scottish crowds would be very good too.

He actually bought me Laika, Power out and No Cars Go on vinyl, and I have to use his player to listen to it. Muahaha, he has to listen to them with me.

Not surprised at all. I'm not being anti English at all but there's no doubting that Scottish and Irish crowds are a whole lot more passionate than English crowds. Must be something about Celtic blood. ;)
