Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

I felt it was more of a the Grammys is a huge event and it's probably on an extremely tight schedule and they just don't have time for another song kind of thing

true. I just wanted to really hear that song played. I mean I like Month of May but they could've switched it

well Win did say that they were cool with people leaving while they were playing so i guess that kinda implied that were providing the exit music to the show. i was just glad they played another song and going by the applause it got at the end. nobody had left.

everything was beautiful and nothing hurt :')

I am super happy Arcade Fire won Album of the Year. I think it's an even bigger win for music. I hope more young kids start listening to good bands like Arcade Fire. This win could be a big stepping stone.

By the way, I wasn't too crazy about the light set up and bikers during Month of May. It wasn't a bad performance; it just didn't come across well on tv.

This.

I was crying in the office. Seriously. :wacky::wacky:

Blasting all Arcade Fire songs in celebration :wacky:

I'm glad they won, they really deserved it. Music really deserved it.

Very well said. I agree 100%.

The Grammys are on tv again here, waiting for Arcade Fire :awesome: I freaked out way too much last night so I probably missed some parts so I'll watch their songs again :awesome:

I thought Arcade Fire's performance was only OK. I am more excited about the album of the year win. It's like good music is finally recognized. I hope people feel stupid for listening to silly pop artists when a band as good as Arcade Fire is out there. That's the way it used to be - the kids were never fooled. Now I feel like the youth has bought into a bunch of crap. I think Arcade Fire is good enough to cross barriers. I hope they open doors for other good bands.

I don't think them winning the grammy will do anything for popular music. I think they will be pretty much recognised as a band like Kings Of Leon or whatever. If it was Funeral or Neon Bible it would be different. But The Suburbs is pretty much a standard rock album.

true that

I heard they had an 'anti-grammy' party a couple days before the awards. Their reaction/Win's speech was priceless.

I know Arcade Fire stayed clear of all the Grammy parties. They had dinner at a quiet restaurant the night before the Grammies and were back at their hotel by 10:30. I know that for a fact. So, yes, they weren't exactly soaking up the Grammy experience.

I still think people who would otherwise not listen to Arcade Fire will give them a chance because of their Album of the Year win. It doesn't matter how late people come to the party, just so long as they eventually show up. I may be wrong, but it's what I hope happens.

lol, sounds like a religion. Arcade Fire doesn't care what you listened to in the past, as long as you respond to the messianic revelation of the grammy's, there will always be a seat for you at the right hand of Win.

I downloaded their album a few weeks ago and just started listening to it today. I thought it was great. I'm so happy they won!
