Arcade Fire

Featured Replies

I still think people who would otherwise not listen to Arcade Fire will give them a chance because of their Album of the Year win. It doesn't matter how late people come to the party, just so long as they eventually show up. I may be wrong, but it's what I hope happens.

Yeah, I guess. But this does not mean kids will start listening to indie music instead of Lady GaGa or whatever. Actually, it will probably mean they will continue listening to their pop music and never give Arcade Fire a chance because they won the award, not their favourite artist.

This might not have been what you were saying but I have seen a lot of people saying "ARCADE FIRE SAVED MUSIC" "THERE IS HOPE FOR MUSIC NOW" and that's just ridiculous.

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

^ I know what you're saying, but I just disagree. All it took was Nirvana's "Nevermind" to make all hose people listening to glam or hair metal feel ridiculous. I hope ArcadeFire cam have a similar impact.

Thing is, the Grammy crowd that people are hoping will be changed are the weekly top 40 crowd. the suburbs didn't exactly have a 'hit' single, and I doubt your typical Justin Bieber fan will be arsed to listen through a full album of a band they've never heard of. Though in the future, this might give them more radioplay on said stations.

Yeah. And back then albums were A LOT more popular. fans of popular music would buy albums. it's not like that anymore. If arcade fire don't have a hit single the kids won't bother!

i thought the anticipation leading up to The Suburbs was massive. i can't even begin to imagine what sort of anticipation will greet LP4.

i've known arcade fire since 2005 but i still have no idea who they are and why they won a grammy i mean da beebz should have won111111111111

I really hope that'll get them more airplay and recognition among young (and older) people, because they truly deserve it. However, people that like Rhianna or Bieber might not want to give them a chance because, as someone else said, their favourite musicians didn't win the award. But you never know... there surely are some people who watch Grammys for the music and not the looks/show/gossip etc. and who are willing to try listening to someting new.
