Chris reminds wife Gwyneth of dad

Friday December 23 2005 14:22 IST

LONDON: Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow married Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin because he reminded her of her late father Bruce.

According to contactmusic.com, Paltrow says she was struck by the resemblance when she was having a chat with Madonna about love and loss.

She says: "She (Madonna) said to me that I once told her that I wasn't ready to pick the right person because I wasn't ready to replace my father as the main man in my life. It's true. I feel, like I was never really with anybody who was a real contender."

But Paltrow knew she found her future husband when she met Martin because he was so similar to her father.

She adds: "He's got the same blue eyes and curly hair and the long, long muscles."

ooh.. :stunned:

good to know that. :wink3:

i've always known that was something strange about gwyn. :wink3:

this is frighting a bit..no really, this isn't the first time she said it..just weird.

I didn't like that. :wink3:

Sounds like she only loves chris because he reminds her of her dad. :wink3:

yeah, she speaks so much about her pather and it got bit out of hand.

Uhm, I don't know... I heard that all women tend to look for men who are similar to their fathers or something like that.

So I don't find it surprising or weird at all.

Aww i think this is actually really sweet. It takes a very special man to replace a father / father figure, and a very special man Chris is. :) It doesnt mean she only loves him because he reminds her of her father, it means he's brought something out in her that she obviously felt she lost when she lost her father, and thats brilliant.

Bless her.

I agree with steph, I think it's very, very cute! She always said that her father was the most important person in the world for her, so Chris couldn't be honored more than being compared with her father, could he?

Me personally, I look for a man who's the complete opposite of my father  But Bruce Paltrow seemed to be a very special person for Gwyneth, so it's no miracle that she's attracted to a man who's similar to this person..

yeah i understand that but she had some really akward things said on this subject, really. but that theory XADAJODA is true, the same thing sticks for boys and their mothers. yep. electra's and edip's complex.

yep. I was thinking the same, when I read it. :)

I loved A Level English Lit

Well, my hubby reminds me of my dad too!

And I just saw a pic of Gwyn's bro today in the paper. He sure looks like Chris. Lanky, curly strawberry blond hair.

I can see why she likes him.... :D

:/

I agree that there could be resemblances and things that one maybe misses about your father that one can look for in a husband... but the "long, long muscles" bit is a bit much. :stunned:

I mean I get where Gwyn's going, I would want my future husband to be like my father with regards to things like.. taking care of the family and balancing out work/family-time the way my dad does.. but man, she needs word things like this better or they can really be taken out of context. Eeps.

But, are they actually 'her' words...

A lot of what they say is taken out of context.... :/

Im sorry but really do find that quite weird. I mean don't get me wrong i love my dad, but oddly enough dont want to marry him or anyone who reminds me of him. She is a bit strange though in more ways than one so i guess its to be expected.

no really, there were many interviews lately with her and in everyone of them has this kind of sentence regarding chris and her father espectially.

Oh well, each to their own....

Have you got a boyfriend Cece...?

like...SYLVIA PLATH?!?!

duh..duh DUHHH

aw, that's cute. I love Gwyneth. It's so sweet. She loved her dad so much. Finding Chris couldn'tve been better, and they couldn't be more perfect together.

even her movie "proof" deals with the loss of a father i think...
