September 9, 200916 yr REM REM REM Love REM  Nightswimming is definitely a favorite, though really, I love just about everything they've done. Michael Stipe is also phenomenal live. :wacky:
September 11, 200916 yr *Sigh* Why don't more bands make albums like New Adventures in Hi-Fi? Oh...they're not R.E.M! :P
September 11, 200916 yr ^I have to admit, it took me a while to come around on that album, but now I love it!
September 12, 200916 yr ^I have to admit, it took me a while to come around on that album, but now I love it! Yeah? I have to say that album was upon first listen. My love for it cemented especially when I heard UP.

October 16, 201015 yr Thanks for bumping this Liz! One of my absolute favourite bands ever! I've seen them live 4 times, I think. Each of the gigs were fantastic. Can't wait for the new album!
October 16, 201015 yr :wideeyed: When did you see them? I want to see them live one day too, however I don't think anything could beat when them and Blur toured together :bomb: I wish I had been around for that!
October 16, 201015 yr I am always surprised that R.E.M. does not get more love on this board. I would think that they would be a band that fits well with the tastes of people on this board. This is one band that I listen to on occasion, but need to listen to some more. When they are on, they are as good as it gets.

I want to see them live one day too, however I don't think anything could beat when them and Blur toured together :bomb: I wish I had been around for that! What??? They toured together? I think my brain just exploded! When was that? Ok, I saw them first in 2003 and then in the summer of 2004 and they came back again the february of the following year. I bought tickets for that straight away after the summer one! I couldn't not go. And then I saw them on the third night of that 5 night rehearsal thing they did in 2007, I think. They were all amazing. It was a lot, but it was so worth it. I hope they tour again after the release of the new album. I'm lucky though, 'cause they seem to like coming here! The Wrong Child is one of my all time favourite songs. Mine too. Heartwrenchingly beautiful!
October 16, 201015 yr Yay new album, they were rather good at the rose bowl with editors & guillemots supporting them, in 2008

I can't remember what year though :\ Small world too, I read an interview with Chris Martin and said he saw Blur open for R.E.M. and he loved how they "cooked the audience. Damon Albarn had to cool the pit down by splashing water on them with his water bottle" Also, Alex's book he wrote. He talks about him and Micheal Stipe for a bit, I guess Alex started dating one of Stipe's ex girlfriends and Micheal warned him about her LOL so typical Alex. I'm so jealous you've seen them though :bomb: they are so amazing, I need to see them at some point.

I'm totally prepared to be soaked by the end of the Gorillaz concert (:wink3::D). Chris loves REM, doesn't he. It's cute how much of a fanboy he is over Michael. Didn't he buy a lunchbox designed by Michael for around £18000? It was for charity, but still really cute. Yeh, I got really excited at that part of the book! I really wasn't expecting that :D. The music world really is tiny though, isn't it? There are connections all over the place. And OMG, if you get the chance - do it. You will not regret it!
November 7, 201015 yr Yeah I love that quote too! Oh god.. the water :dead: YES! Omg Chris.. I didn't know that about the lunchbox hahaha I love it when celebs are fanboys of other great celebs :wacky: Oooh you will like this connection too then, D. Blur's song B.L.U.R.E.M.I. the title had something to do with Blur and REM, and inspired somehow by Stipe. I forgot where I read... I wish I still had the interview  I will def. see them one day if I can :D :D
