I just saw a top 10 countdown of Oasis's videos a couple of days ago' date=' it reminded me of how much i missed their music![/quote']

wonderwall of course, live forever was like number 3 or something........and stop crying your heart out wasnt on the list

stupid people who vote!

:laugh4: I know! Most of the people who didn't know much about them were really put off by them not talking at all' date=' and they even got slagged in the press etc., but I knew it'd be that way beforehand so I was dying from happinnes for being there! [/stops rambling about that gig']

I mean, it should be about the music!!! Who fucking cares if they care about us?? I dunno, Im one of those that goes to gigs to hear them play(that's why they better do a great job) but not to chat with them or to become best frriends with them(be happy is it happen, but im not waiting on it)

It would be awsome if they did recognize their fans and all, because if it wasnt for the fans they wouldnt be there, yanno. But Im grateful enough if they just put on a hell of a show, period:D

Brits honour 'outstanding' Oasis

Oasis are to be given an outstanding achievement prize at next year's Brit Awards, organisers have announced.

The Manchester band shot to fame in 1994, and were at the forefront of the Britpop scene which saw guitar music return to the UK charts.

BPI chairman Peter Jamieson said: "Oasis set the standard for many of the young rock bands who are currently enjoying success in the UK charts."

Next year's awards show will be held at London's Earls Court on 14 February.

Fronted by Noel and Liam Gallagher, Oasis have sold 40 million albums around the world since they formed in 1993.

Dry spell

Their first two albums - Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? - were critically acclaimed and earned them global attention.

Be Here Now became the fastest-selling album in chart history when it was released at the height of their fame in 1997.

Despite their success, the outstanding achievement award sees Oasis breaking a 10-year dry spell at the Brits.

They last made it to the podium in 1996, when they received three awards - for best British group, best British video and best British album for (What's The Story) Morning Glory?

The band releases an 18-track greatest hits album in November, featuring a mixture of chart singles and lesser-known B-sides, all chosen by the band.

They are currently taking a break from touring and recording but have denied suggestions they are splitting up.

Previous winners of the Brit award for outstanding achievement include the Bee Gees, Paul Weller, Sting and the Spice Girls.

British recorded music industry trade association the BPI have announced that Oasis will be recognized with The Outstanding Contribution to Music at The BRIT Awards with MasterCard on Valentine's Day 2007.

This prestigious award is in the gift of the Council of the BPI, which organises the BRIT awards, all of the proceeds of which go to the industry's charity the BRIT Trust.

Oasis will receive the honour on stage at London's Earls Court on Wednesday 14 February 2007 when millions of TV viewers will see them perform and accept the award live on ITV.

BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson said, "Oasis set the standard for many of the young rock bands who are currently enjoying success in the UK charts. As the BRIT Awards goes live for the first time in nearly two decades, it is appropriate that we should honour one of the most exciting live acts the UK has produced."

Originally formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis are one of the most successful and prominent British rock and roll bands ever. They are one of the pivotal bands to bring guitar music back into the UK charts.

Taking inspiration from 60s bands like The Beatles and The Kinks, Oasis were also heavily influenced by their fellow Mancunian bands like The Stone Roses and The Smiths.

With such critically acclaimed and massively successful albums as their debut Definitely Maybe and its 19 million selling follow up (What's the Story) Morning Glory? Oasis have inspired an entire generation of music fans and new bands like Kasabian and The Arctic Monkeys with their embodiment of rock 'n' roll hedonism and swagger. Oasis performed back-to-back concerts at Knebworth in 1996 having sold out both shows within minutes; 250,000 people over two nights. Their latest studio album "Don't Believe the Truth has given rise to two UK number one singles, sold over two million copies worldwide to date and the band continue to break records with their sold out tour dates across the globe.

In 2005, The Guinness Book of World Records declared Oasis the Most Successful Act of the Last Decade in the UK. Oasis have sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

Their first confirmed release of 2006 is a best of album entitled, Stop the Clocks . This much anticipated album will be released on the 20 November 2006 through Big Brother.

No strangers to the BRITs stage, Oasis have picked up BRITs in 1995 for Best British Breakthrough Act, in 1996 for Best British Album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, Best British Group and Best British Video, "Wonderwall".

Oasis will receive the prestigious award and perform live at The BRITs 2007 with MasterCard. Previous recipients of the Outstanding Contribution Award include The Beatles, U2, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Sting, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Eurythmics, The Who and many more.

BRITISH SINGLE AWARD GOES LIVE

For the first time in its history the BRIT Awards with MasterCard will feature a LIVE vote in 2007 as viewers are invited to choose the winner of The British Single category during the live TV broadcast.

Viewers will be able to vote during the two-hour long telecast for their favourite of the five shortlisted singles with the winner announced at the end of the show.

And in a unique collaboration with commercial radio, the final shortlist of five will be selected from a long list of 10 in a vote off by listeners of the hit40uk, A-List and Fresh 40 charts.

BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson said, "We have a longstanding and close relationship with commercial radio and we're delighted to be working with them on this BRITs first."

This year the British Single award was won by Coldplay's 'Speed of Sound'.

The nominations for the 27th BRIT Awards will be unveiled at the Hammersmith Palais in London on Tuesday, 16 January 2007. The launch will be televised live on ITV2 as part of "The BRITs are coming" programming. Both media and artists alike will discover who has been included in the most-talked-about nominations list of the year. Guests at the launch will be treated to three exclusive live performances from some of the hottest musical talent around. Details to be announced shortly.

Key to the prestige of The BRIT Awards 2007 with MasterCard is the fact that alongside categories chosen by the public, it also includes awards decided by The BRIT Awards Voting Academy.

The Academy is made up of 1000 specially invited members from different sectors of the music industry. Only 6% of the academy is represented by the major record labels and their associated companies, with the remaining 94% coming from Independent record companies, retailers, music critics & music press, music TV and Radio producers & presenters, music publishers, artist managers, concert promoters & venues, NUS representatives and DJ's.

The BRIT Awards is the only UK show from which all the proceeds are donated to charity. Millions have been raised over the years for its beneficiaries, which include The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy. Over 7,000 young people have been given free education and the opportunity to enter the school since its opening in 1991 and more than 10,000 children and adults have been helped by the phenomenal music therapy work carried out by Nordoff Robbins.

That's a lie...

...their first offical release of 2006 will be the Stop The Clocks EP, a 4-track disc released on the 13th November. Hopefully Lord don't slow me down will be released before christmas.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its very difficult....:( ummm, but's definitely between The Masterplan and Hey Now!.

Wonderwall is a classic, and a favorite for that reason!:)

Don't Look Back in Anger would have to be my favourite.

Champagne Supernova and Don't Look Back In Anger, can't choose between those two.

Dont look back in anger and The importance of being idle are probably my favourites.

DLBIA and live forever..and maybe the masterplan

Oasis - Stop The Clocks

3441-OASIS.gif

After much speculation Oasis announce the final track listing for their definitive collection 'Stop The Clocks'.

Unlike most albums of this nature, Oasis have sat down and undertaken the almost impossible job of picking what they consider to be their finest moments ever. So 'Stop The Clocks' is imbued with the sort of wilfulness that has helped make Oasis the favourite band of millions of people worldwide and its running order will no doubt provoke equal parts adulation and bar discussions from the millions of Oasis fans worldwide. Could it ever be any other way? Oasis have been at the helm of the world’s music scene for over ten years and, on 20th November 2006 the first ever Oasis retrospective will draw together the years of multi platinum albums, Number One singles and, unique to Oasis, instantly familiar B sides into one 18 track double album entitled 'Stop the Clocks'. So here it is. The tracks as chosen by the band themselves – the songs they believe encapsulate their remarkable career to date.

Rock n Roll Star, Some Might Say, Talk Tonight, Lyla, The Importance of Being Idle, Wonderwall, Slide Away, Cigarettes & Alcohol, The Masterplan, Live Forever, Acquiesce, Supersonic, Half The World Away, Go Let It Out, Songbird, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova, Don’t Look Back In Anger

Having spent 10 months on the road in support of the 2 million selling 'Don't Believe The Truth', 'Stop the Clocks' is released as Oasis take a well earned sabbatical prior to starting work on new material, destined for similar levels of success in the future. As such, this is not a full stop, but merely a time out; a dream set list, and a chance for the world to review the immense contribution that Oasis have made and continue to make to rock 'n'roll.

”There could have been more but these 18 songs, spinning in and out of no natural order, through 12 unforgettable years, are the songs the whole world sings, and will sing forever, songs which define the very point of being alive, which fill our souls with hope, escape, friendship, love, laughter, sex, beauty, oblivion, and the timeless freedom of the rock n roll dream itself. These could be the best days of our lives. And they were. And they still are”. (Sylvia Patterson)

Oasis to hit studio this month

Liam Gallagher wants to get going on new album

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has revealed the band are likely to get started on their new studio album this month.

The rock giants release their Best Of compilation 'Stop The Clocks' on November 20, but Gallagher is keen to get started on the follow-up 'proper' to 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'.

He told NME's sister magazine Uncut: "I reckon we're going to start doing something this month, go to our studio. It's the bollocks. Fuckin' old Tudor ranch in High Wycombe, fucking stay there and get it done. Just got to wait for Noel to finish his tunes I suppose."

Speaking about 'Stop The Clocks', which marks the end of the band's deal with SonyBMG, Gallagher added: "I want to get this (album) out of the fucking way, it's doing my head in. To me, it's the last of however fucking long, the last 16 years of that label, that's done. We can start again."

NME

it would be so cool if their break wouldn't last as long as expected in the end  but hey, it's liam who's talking... he "reveales" many things these days  I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.

I wanna see them live again, dammiiit! :nice:
