Haha, woah, well remembered! Its like this whole thing is connected!

:laugh1: i bet it's just a coincidence. unless chris had the title all planned out in 2005 and leaked the rumor (or joke, seeing as no one ever believed it) himself!

i personally have a bit of a hunch that coldpatrix finding the screenshots yesterday has something to do with this info today! if its true, it makes me happy that we have the info (of course), but also a little sad if they had some cool, elaborate announcement planned originally. i think they might have given RS the go-ahead to print that today because of yesterday's discovery (the st. patrick's day goldmine! :D)

gotta admit that i instantly thought of Ricky Martin, too, when i read that album title.

Everyone is still in shock right now. Viva La Vida hasn't really been kicked around as having anything to do with the album since that video from Will came out. Yesterday most people hated it being called Famous Old Painters and today everyone seemed to come to grips with it.

I trust these boys. They picked this name for a good reason. All will be revealed soon.

:)

Viva la vida? haha, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :surprised:

gosh, this is way too shocking for me. It's the last title I'd have expected for a Coldplay's album because it looks like it has NOTHING to do with them...

I do hope the songs in it will be decent.

If you read the new article Chris said :

"“long live life,” on a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who endured polio, a broken spine, and chronic pain for decades. “She went through a lot of shit, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said ‘Viva la Vida,’"

I like this meaning. But yeah, for the moment, I'm not really fond of this title.

The back story doesn't do anything to make me like it any more.

I'm with Dan, I'm gutted. I was really excited when I read the original RS article cos I thought "this is a band I can be proud to call myself a fan of" and I know the music on the album will still be the same and everything...but it's just a horrible title and no matter what anyone says the title of an album can influence your decision to listen to it, especially those music elitists out there.

VIVA LA VIDA!!!

Although spanish is my birth language, i don't like the title too much!!

I was excited with the idea of "Famous Old Painters" - It sounded more Coldplay!!!

However, read carefully what Chris said to Rolling Stone:

“I’ve been through this before, naming something or someone and everyone saying that ‘That’s a terrible name’. But then saying, ‘Well, fuck you, that’s what it’s called, and I’ll be proved to be right eventually’.

Let's trust the band guys!!!

I'm sure the album will be awesome!!!:D

People still say Apple is a terrible name :P

gotta quote dan and mimixxx..to me it's awuful, the only positive thing about RS article is that we finally know the release date, and here we're gonna get it on June 13th and hopefully the songs will get me in the right mood (which I'm not in right now) :dozey:

I have a bad feeling about this.

If the first three albums were considered a trilogy by the band I am wondering just how far they have taken their sound, not too far I hope.

Never have three words sparked so much doubt in my mind.

For Mediterranean, South American and spanish oriented fans this is the worst title ever...

In my opinion, it's an awful title, very horrible...

argh, wait, they changed it to the 17th! :( i'll be on vacation then, which brings me back to my finding-an-internet-connection problem...

ah well. it's still a release date!

Irish release date: June 13th.

I can sort you out with it a few days early if you want.

That is, if you have resisted the inevitable leak.

Oh boy.

@ album title: Hmm.

Hmm.

....

Hmm. Still not sure what to think.

*nods*

it just sounds like the title that could have a song specially written for the Eurovision contest.

Funny how some people are bagging the album title but yet we all want information about the album an when we get a possible album title everyone slams it.Its just an album title!Get over it!!

I don't know why you all hating this title. It's simple, it sounds nice when you're speaking it out and it sounds Coldplay. I like it, beat me up for that, I don't care.

It's good you like it :D

There's always gunna be debate when new info is released :)

hahahaha.

that bit made me laugh so hard.

just imagine all those gay dancers dancing to a simple pop song called "viva la vida". oh lord.

but i don't wanna offend my favourite band. i'm pretty much hopeful when it comes to the new album. everything will turn out just fine.

YES YES YES, A MILLION TIMES YES.

if there's any way we can work this out, i will FOREVER be in your debt!!! i'll have internet access on the 13th and 14th, so that would make my LIFE.

[/excited hope]

I am going to take some time to think about all of this. Perhaps the album artwork and music will be enough to distract me from the 'bubblegum pop band' title. Sorry, only way I can describe it at the moment.

@ ApproximatelyInfinite: Yeah, we can definitely get that done.

I'm currently

  • Excited (as in: :o I can't wait for single info)
  • Disappointed (that's a weak album title)
  • Worried (*gulp* I hope they're not going too out of their way here)

Metal Gear Solid 4: June 12

Viva La Vida: June 13th

That'll be some weekend. :D

If it wasn't a Coldplay album title, Viva La Vida would have been a cheesy title for a song or album. But now it's a title of a Coldplay album, it feels different. Just like Parachutes. It's just a word, but knowing that it is an album title of a great album, makes it feel special.

When the album is out and we know what it sounds like, the album title will just be something that makes the work complete.

as of right now i hate it but i'm hoping once i see it on an album with the artwork it will seem better... idk... coldplay aren't hispanic so it's just weird to have a BRITISH band make an album with a spanish title...

@ ApproximatelyInfinite: Yeah, we can definitely get that done.

Yeah those three points sum up what I'm feeling too :D

I'm a little confused though. How come you guys get it 3 days in advance?
