it might sound a bit odd now, but as soon as we know how great that album is, we'll love the album title and associate it with greater things than ricky martin.

The new website designs with the 'paint' theme makes sense, given that the album title is partly dedicated to the female artist Chris Martin spoke of. However, there were links to 'Famous New Painters' on each preview... was that a red herring?

Honestly, it's a title. X&Y is a rather shit title if you think about it. As long as it's not a shit album, too, I don't care if they name it Miss Pendlewood's Day Care For Dangerous and Special Children or something like that. Agreed?

as of right now i hate it but i'm hoping once i see it on an album with the artwork it will seem better... idk... coldplay aren't hispanic so it's just weird to have a BRITISH band make an album with a spanish title...

Well I don't know, U2 did it with 'Achtung, Baby' (which means Careful, Baby), and they arent a German band. But that was an original title. Viva La Vida sounds so... cheesy.

But one thing I'm pleased about... the fact the guys kept it in spanish. Coldplay - Live The Life' is even worse IMO.

It doesn't really make it any better though.

EDIT: Foreign language title... maybe they're following in the steps of U2?

well, guys the album name its strange but when i think in the title and the reasons who gave chris. i think its and optimistic album title for the loneliness and death. its like the lyrics of fix you. its a fantastic album title with meaning when you think about yourself no about other people.

well i give a shit about the people who dont like coldplay. this people would never like coldplay no matter of the album title. i heard a lot of ridicolous album titles in my life and with no meaning just poor poetry or ironic with no sense at all but with nice name. i think the title has a lot of meaning and is an ecellent name for a coldplay album:P

I'm sure they had never thought about the title that way. If they had a certain knowlegde of Spanish I suppose they'd have considered the possibility of this double meaning - anyway, I know that they had the best intentions when they chose Viva la vida as the title for their 4th album and I expect its songs to be good :nice:

They can name it Pile of Crap for all I care. Like your gonna hate a great record because of the title...who gives two shits what they call the damn thing.....just bring it fucking on!!!!!!

I think it's kind of cool. They know people are going to think of Ricky Martin when they hear but they obviously believe in it enough as an album title to go with it. It makes even more sense when you know why it's called that. Plus, it links in with all the Hispanic influences. I think it'll sound cooler when they start making videos, releasing singles, touring. Achtung Baby isn't a great title by itself but when you think about the Zoo TV imagery, MacPhisto and the Fly, and the tour it fits more.

I don't mind the title, and I think it will make more sense when the album is out and we hear the music. Lots of people seem to prefer 'Famous Old Painters' but I think that sounds a bit stuffy and boring for an album title... better for a track title.

I personally love Viva La Vida. To be honest, WHATEVER it was called someone would have hated it and said it's cheesy lol.

Do you think 'Viva La Vida' will be a song too then...since the other album names were also songs...

Anyway I think many people here are confusing opinions about the title and opinions about the album. I don't like the title, but this doesn't mean I'm not gonna like the album, I will never like it no matter what, and I'm prolly gonna love the songs despite the title.
