That would be Supergrass you mean ;)

that didn't make any sense at all considering I said "I couldn't think of an album that had less that 10 songs" ;)

it makes perfect sense! An album doesn't have to have 20 songs on it for it to be considered good! Why don't you consider it an album?

My mistake...:embarassed:

haha look one of us is clearly getting confused here,

the way I see it is.

I SAID: I can't think of an album with less than 10 tracks.

then YOU SAID in reply: Radiohead's has 10 tracks.

how does that make sense? I was saying I couldn't think of one with LESS than 10 tracks.

lol.

and I would consider an album to be at least 10 tracks.

It just seem's to me a bit lacklustre to have less.

But that could be because I've never owned an album with less

Well guys, I have an album called Now Here Is Nowhere by the Secret Machines, and that has 'only' 9 tracks, and its 50 minutes long. But it also has two songs that clock in at just under 9 minutes, so there's plenty to listen to. And it's one of my favourite albums. Their second album has even less - 8 tracks stretched over 46 minutes - but its still a great album. Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd? Both considered masterpieces, both about 42 minutes, both less than 10 tracks (Wish has 5 tracks).

And if we're talking about the album only being 42 minutes here, just flicking through some tracklistings I can see another great album called Room On Fire by The Strokes which has 11 tracks and only clocks in at 33min 5sec. And its one of my favourites as well (IMO). Revolver also comes to mind, being only 35 minutes. I could go on, but I think you know what I'm getting at.

^room on fire is only 33 mins?! how have i never noticed that before? wow, i think it just feels longer to me because i love it so much.

yes, as i said in some other thread recently, i don't care how many tracks there are, as long as it's more than like 3. i'm more interested in getting new music from the guys rather than being particular about how much and putting out my own stipulations about what's acceptable. yeah, we've been waiting a while, but who's to say that these 9 tracks won't be the best 9 tracks that they've ever put out? besides, i'm hoping for a decent number of b-sides as well, so when you put it in that light, we'll probably be getting around 60 mins or so of music by the time 2009 rolls around. they know what they're doing.

Coldplay Reveal New Album Tracklisting?

937898.jpg

What may be the tracklisting for Coldplay’s forthcoming fourth album, ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’, has surfaced on an online Dutch retailer's website, containing nine songs set for a June 16 release.

As previously reported, the album’s title appeared on the band’s official website last week, after Chris Martin revealed the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo inspired the name.

But the Netherlands' largest online retailer, ‘Bon.com’, has now posted a tracklisting, slotted for a June 18 release, which means June 16 in the UK. However, this tracklisting has not been confirmed by the band or their label and may relate to a feature from Rolling Stone online in which the magazine take a first look at a handful of the tracks.

The possible tracklisting is as follows -

'Violet Hill'

'42'

'Yes'

'Death And All His Friends'

'Cemeteries Of London'

'Life In Technicolor'

'Chinese Sleep Chant'

'Srawberry Swing'

'Reign Of Love'

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone also recently reported that the record's possible opening track, ‘Violet Hill’, could be given away as a special promotion in the coming weeks.

Too many people seem to be frustrated right now. People complaining about the title or saying that there's no way that can be the title. Coldplay will do whatever they want and you may not like it. But, geez, it's their fucking art. Let them make it. If you don't like it, there you go, but c'mon.

This probably isn't the tracklist, but it's already been stated that the album will be shorter and that a 9-track disc is likely. So calm down.

Also, there are plenty of albums that have only 9 tracks to their name. Take Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" for a more recent example. Most albums don't suffer from being short. It usually helps. Also, don't worry, you'll get all the songs.

Most of what I'm hearing about the CD has me somewhat excited (besides the bits of lyrics RS reveled, not good, not good). Don't be turned off by talk of "everyone might not like this, but it's what we're doing". That's a good thing. It means they are doing what they want to do and not what they think people will like. That will in most situations allow for the best music and art to be produced. Everyone chill out.

Also, you get your announcement in good time. Be patient.

Here's to waiting for the leak!

I could NOT agree with you more. I don't understand all the whining that it's the worst title ever, that's not enough songs, etc. YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD THE ALBUM YET! I LOVE the fact it's only 9 songs! They believe these 9 songs from the list of like 15 are THE best music they can make. none of it will be filler.

And we heard months ago that this would be the case! Did we all forget about that? We knew this information way ahead of time, there didn't seem to be any complaining then.

I have COMPLETE faith in the guys. Prospekts next entry will (hopefully) tell us everything we want to know.

We didn't rush them during the making of the album, why are we rushing them now?

I dont think those are the 9 songs that are gonna be on the album. If you think about it,all nine of those songs were the songs mentioned in the Rolling Stones article and in that order too.So im pretty sure that this isnt that tracklisting. Plus it seems like they are pretty big on Famous Oldm Painters and i dont think that would be left off.

I agree. There wouldn't be so much waiting if it were the same tracklisting from the Rolling Stone article. They would have had it for months now. Also, from the sound of Prospekts post Christmas entry, the guys might have been pretty keen on including Lovers in Japan.

VLVOD Track listing announced!

No, not really...:P

(Sorry to a an ass, I'm just really board today...)

you're lucky i saw the text summary bubble pop up when i hovered over the thread with my mouse and saw it was a joke. otherwise i'd have to kill you!

No really, it is announced. Check Coldplay. Com. Brilliant tracks.

Nope just kidding.:P

But you knew that anyway!!

I originally posted this one under "new members" since I was a bit lost regarding where to put this info I got. But now I found a more proper place for it. Anyways! I'll publish it all here again.

Hi there!

Lovely to be here!

I realise this is not the right place to post this kind of thing, but there are just too many threads to keep track of in the beginning, so the moderator are more than welcome to put it where it should be. But I just want to get the news out as quickly as possible, even though I know there's been a huge discussion about the tracklisting before. This is the tracklisting I found on the Swedish online music retailer cdon.com.

1. Famous Old Painters

2. Glass Of Water

3. Lost!

4. Cemeteries Of London

5. Violet Hill

6. Poppy Fields

7. 42

8. Yes!

9. Leftrightleftright

10. Rainy Day

11. Prospeckt's March

What do you guys think about that? Trustworthy?

^^It's all just hearsay until we get it from the official site...if we ever get it:veryangry:

That's a similar tracklisting to what is on a few other sites, but Prospekt, God love him, said there would only be 9 tracks on the new album.

Woah, a limited gatefold wallet edition, good find. Yet again we get information from people other than the band themselves.

What do think about the probability of them releasing different tracks in different countries? Not just different b-sides/hidden tracks?
