In an article a couple weeks ago Dave Holmes said that there would be signifigant major initiative planned around another single to be released on May 21st. So I was wondering if we should expect another single to be released this week?What do you guys think??I havent heard anything really about it. There is another thread about the article i know but just wanted to get peoples take on this.

Last week’s phenomenally successful free single download was just the start, claim Coldplay management and label.

 

Coldplay have not finished with surprises in the run-up to the release of Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, with a “significant major initiative” planned around another single [42 maybe?] taken from the album on May 21. With the band recording additional material that did not make the album’s final cut, Parlophone is also promising a treat for fans, with a number of other non-album tracks eventually seeing the light of day. [seperate releases, one for Viva La Vida and one for Death And All His Friends perhaps?]

 

Downloads of the giveaway digital single Violet Hill hit around the 1.5m mark at the end of last week, and the band’s management company, LA based 3D Management, and record company Parlophone are now ratcheting up the marketing campaign to follow the free download that started on April 29.

 

Coldplay’s manager Dave Holmes is already promising something special for the third week in May. “It’s one pretty significant thing, although I can’t afford to have it get out,” he says. “You’ll understand why when I tell you, but it is a major initiative with huge global reach.”

i'm expecting a big announcement..(though i really dont know what it could be about..) but not so much another single..

i had a dream that they had 2 albums. Viva la vida and b-sides. In my dream you could turn the b-sides cd case 180 degrees and it would still say the same thing. Hopefukky i get to fell some Deja Vu.

while i tend to lean on the side of believing that we'll get a single AND news on wednesday...i'm pretty pessimistic. i guess they're going to try to make it as much of a surprise as possible, but...i just don't know. i DO know that my ass will be at home and my browser will have a tab here and a tab on the official site as soon as i wake up on wednesday, though. if there really is going to be something announced and/or released, i REFUSE to miss it :D

is wednesday for the english on the 21 or 22? Whats the difference between The us and the uk timewise?

the 21st is a wednesday which is kinda weird cause things get released on tuesday here in the states.They could be doin things differently though.Who knows.

I think that single was meant to be Viva La Vida. If they do release another single, there is a very high chance it'll be "Lost!".

 

Highly doubt it though, 2 singles in one month are more than enough, there isn't even a video for Viva La Vida yet.

Is Viva La Vida even an official single??I thought it was just a promotion thing were if you pre-ordered the album on itunes then you got to download the track.

i do kind of wonder why they'd say something about may 21 specifically in that news article and then have absolutely nothing occur on that day, but hey, the press does lie sometimes.

 

there used to be a thing on itunes where you could see all the upcoming things that were going to be released in the next month on there, but i can't find it. i did, however, find a thing called "just added" on there where you can see what's been released each week. i'm going to check it tomorrow, just in case there's something coldplay-related up there, but a) who knows if they'd do the single through itunes anyway? b) if they're really trying to keep it secret, they wouldn't put it on that list, and c) it might not tell you what's going to released BEFORE it happens, but only AFTER, so my looking could be entirely useless :P

Being that Sirius Has been playing Viva La Vida for the past week, I think that will be the next single.

Viva la Vida.... 3 singles in one month are a lot, and as Fedex pointed out, there is n't even a Video for viva la vida

i HOPE there will be a VLV video...not counting on it though :sad:. but really, that has the potential to be an AMAZING video...

 

anyway, i don't count that as an official single, especially because it's not marketed as one on itunes. i wouldn't be at all surprised if they released another single before june 11, and i have to say that i hope they do...just preferably this wednesday like they (or their manager or whoever) said they would :D

personally i hope they are just talking about a formal release of viva la vida or something. i think a 3rd single is too much. idk about you guys but i don't want this album to be COMPLETELY spoiled before it actually comes out. if we got another single this week that would be our 4th song which is almost half the album. i think best case scenario would be viva la vida with a b-side. along with that big global announcement. but i think getting 42 now would be a complete spolier! just my opinion though...

the big announcement was the ESPN agreement for the football Euro Cup and we've had enough material from the album!

 

anyway, I hope we get new songs this week!!

Folks, I have a feeling the surprise will be the B-Sides announcement, with the release of perhaps Postcards from Far Away. If you look at the puzzle unfolding over at the Brixton extras page, that seems to be the only B-Side lyrics revealed. 42 would be too big of a spoiler in my opinion, but then again, 21 IS half of 42. Who knows what the boys may have up their sleeve. I'll be early.:cool:

That would be nice, but I doubt that is what they'll do. Maybe they are planning on making the entire VLV experience interactive.
