2-1 at the half. Ramires goal coming out of nowhere. Crazy game.

I have yet to see a good angle of Terry kneeing Sanchez. Fox Soccer only had one brief shot from the barca end, yet the commentators were convinced it was red worthy. Apparently the ref didn't see it, but was going entirely off the assistant ref's call.

that was a bit stupid. If you're going to make deliberate contact with another player at least do it in style AKA ZiZu

If Chelsea get through to the final it will be one of the greatest rearguard performances for a long time!

It looks even worse from the far away angle, you can totally see why the linesman gave it and it was indeed a red card. Absolutely mindless from John Terry, but never a surprise.

TORRES!? (90+1)

FT!

Barca 2-2 Chelsea (2-3)

Messi et al look very pissed off!

go bayern...

If Chelsea win CL then the team finishing 4th in Prem will not enter the CL 2012-13, so Stelling said.

^This is true, this rule came in when Liverpool won it in '05 and 5 English teams were in the CL the following year, which is a bit excessive.

It would be horrific if we grab that spot and are denied, but I actually think Chelsea have less of a chance against Madrid or Bayern in one match then with Barca over 2 legs, especially as they'll be missing most of their defence.

its a peaceful night in sin city

Huge match tonight and no replies?

Maybe nobody knows what to say, I don't have a clue what to think. The most amazing thing for me was seeing Real Madrid somehow overturn 2 missed penalties, and then somehow still lose the shootout.

SCHEIß FC BAYERN! :wacky:

yeah, weird. I was working during the match, and so avoided the internet until I finished the replay on FSC.

I strongly disagree with the first penalty call. Alaba's arm was mostly behind his body, and he was just trying to keep his balance as he was falling over. I was distraught when Robben missed a sitter he could've chested in after Alaba puts in a gorgeous run and cross. Munich's central defense was weak for most of it, but especially in the second half the had such an easy time moving across midfield with their superior wingbacks while Madrid just couldn't keep possession or string passes together anywhere near as well. Ribery was terrific, Gomez (to Reilly's glee no doubt) was surprisingly weak. Definitely should've taken it one touch with that pass from Robben.

Not anticipating extra-time, I forgot to record the next slot, so I missed extra-time, but saw the highlight of the late madrid penalty appeal. Did anything really change?

Overall Munich deserved to win. They'll have the advantage in the final, and I'll get to rub my prediction

I got Bayern winning the champions league this year. Thought 'all oughta know.

in the face of the nobody who cares.

oh, btdubs. Did anyone else, during a first half free kick, catch audio of Neuer repeatedly shouting "Arjen! Arjen!" in a squeaky schoolboy voice?

LONDON FTW!

sorry but i just dislike bayern munich. it s not the players i hate (except robben), it s the club itself. it s the same like a manu fan wouldnt be happy if man city reached the finals you know?! :inquisitive:

Your comments are very strange. First, you act like we should all know which german club you support ( I don't). Next, london? There are a half dozen major clubs in London. If Chelsea wins, London doesn't win...

Maybe S.@m. just wants a London club to win because he loves the city? Considering London is still at the moment a European Cup free zone it might be something seeing the cup travel to London for the first ever time?

I thought Bayern deserved to win. They were outstanding after the second goal and ground Real Madrid down to the point where Ronaldo had a real stinker after his second goal. It was a fabulous performance. Brilliant in possession, it's a real mark of how far German football has improved in the last 4 years. Yeah some may say German football has ALWAYS been good and that's true but I think technically it's at it's strongest in a couple of decades. Germany may have got to the World Cup Final in 2002 but I don't think anyone will deny that that was one of the weakest German sides in a long time. Euro 2004 confirmed that. World Cup 2006 - potentially a disaster, in the end an amazingly spirited performance. Euro 2008 - very good. The first signs of something very fruitful for German football. Deserved runners ups. World Cup 2010 - even better. Youthful, confident. Only a great Spain side stopped them. Euro 2012? I can't really look beyond Germany at the moment. Even with a team as great as the current Spain side it's going to be very difficult to win three major tournaments in a row. They may potentially struggle even. Not even the great French side of the late 90s and early 00s could follow their World Cup 98 and Euro 2000 success with another World Cup in 2002. In fact 2002 was just miserable for them! Getting David Villa match fit, up and running will be really crucial.

Oh and strong rumours suggesting that Pep Guardiola will leave Barcelona at the end of the season and look to take a year out from the sport. Mundo Deportivo though have suggested that the FA will look to make him the England manager. Good luck with that!

^Pep was supposed to go last year, Jose Mourinho was 'confirmed' as leaving Madrid all last season as well, and further rumours this year that Jose is going (Those have quietened down as of recent though). I'm not saying it won't happen, but insiders of the Spanish media tend to take a friend of a friends word as gospel, they think growing up in some little town and knowing everyone in it means they get the inside gossip.

S@m said that they don't like Bayern Munich, I mean that's pretty much all they wrote about. They initially wrote 'Fuck Bayern Munich' basically.

I think they were just saying "LONDON FTW" in support of Chelsea, from hatred of Bayern, wouldn't look too deep into that.

As for which club they do support, 1860? I have no idea, you'd think they'd explain that a bit better.

you are right. i was a bit unclear there. next time i ll try to express myself more concrete. but i dont mind which club it is in this context. who cares about chelsea?! that s why i wrote 'london'. i could have written 'england ftw' as well. in my eyes chelsea must win the cup even if they dont play the best ball of the european clubs (like torres said in the interview)..

i thought everybody knew the word "scheiße".. but i wouldnt look too deep into that neither.

i see that the example with the two clubs from manchester wasnt the best choice as well. i just wanted to suggest a strong rivalry of one club with another. i am with the 1. fc nuremberg^^ bayern is one of our worst 'enemies':p

Well for future reference, nobody knows that word unless they've taken a specific interest in German (Which I did for a short period).

As I wrote previously I want Bayern to win, because firstly, the 4th Champions League spot would be taken up by Chelsea even if my team Newcastle finish 4th, but even if they don't, I still like Bayern, they've always been the team I picked when playing video games, and I like the current squad a lot.

good point there with the 4th CL spot!.. i didnt think of that.

the current squad of bayern munich is the best they ever had i think and i cannot deny that they deserve taking part in this year's final - no question. but i guess you also have a club you dont like..
