Hollywood has a good nack of recreating history

Or misrepresenting it.

I really wish I was gay :dozey:

men! :veryangry2:

:stunned::shocked2::stunned:

Hollywood is Hollywood. It's a weird industry anyway.A lot of Blockbuster movies (shitty, usually) and several good movies.Only the good ones are important.

In 40 Year Old Virgin it was a joke. I get it. Judd Apatow is awesome!

However, WHY IS GAY STILL AN INSULT ANYWAY??? How is it that people are still so intolerant and filled with hate that saying something is "gay" is somehow a putdown. As a heterosexual female this always baffled me. What makes something "gay"? Its a silly label given by small minded and insecure people. Coldplay writes and performs good quality music and NO ONE should feel ashamed for liking them.

Why are we even discussing this?

I said the same about all those countless "bad" reviews of VLV.;)

beacause of chris martins dance

hahahaha....

nah who cares

Why are we even discussing this?

Yeah, stop whining, you gay people! :P

Hmm.. Well, Hollywood is stuck on the cult of image; men are supposed to be macho brawny types; women portrayed as the smart but petite, sensitive types. It's their formula, and they can't deal with real people. So, if you're sensitive, you're seen as gay by Hollywood's standards. To hell with Hollywood's warped view of the world! (oops - that's wasn't very sensitive!:laugh3:). I often wonder, if the Beatles were a new sensation today, how would Hollywood perceive them? Hmm.. Well, Coldplay's style is sensitive at times, but hard-driven at others.. Perhaps it's that movie - once a stereotype is set, it's a label that gets used like a broken record. But, true, more to the point - who cares what Hollywood thinks? And besides, looking at artists like Elton John, the music is universal, and Hollywood seems to not mind a bit using his music in all sorts of movies..

What if they had instead said,

"You know how I know you're black? Because you like Lil Jon."

Imagine the outrage.

Hollywood daily depicts an "ideal" lifestyle that I would never have anything to do with. The same goes for their ideas on music, I could give a @#%$ what Hollywood thinks is acceptable. And judging by the millions of people who have been buying coldplay albums over the years I don't think I'm alone.

i cant see how songs like Politik, Clock, Viva La Vida, Violet Hill and most of the other Coldplay songs are gay. oh please.

but if it's so, then i dont mind at all falling in love with gay-ish songs!

It must be because of the falsetto. Maybe that's why Chris switched to a lower register for VLV.

Seriously though, I pretty much agree with everyone's response here. I just found it amusing that a show bit a lame joke from a movie. But it is quite ridiculous to get upset over something like this. We all love Coldplay and don't care what people think and that's that. Period.

Right down to the bottom of it, Hollywood is run by a bunch of conservative people. No matter how "unique" you are, you still must abide to the so-called standards (women being beautiful and submissive, men being masculine and tough, etc etc).

(Case in point, just look at the '05 Oscars..."Crash" beat out "Brokeback Mountain" for Best Picture, and quite an amount of supporters for the winning flick voted for it because the opposing film was too "homo" :dozey: )

That's why I don't watch the Oscars either.;)

It's pretty much all rigged.

yeah this is basically bull shit, but when apatow says it you guys know its sarcasm, smart people don't actually believe this. i think when it starts getting used its just cause its one of those jokes people think won't every get old...well they're wrong.

the fact that chris martin is married to a very beautiful hollywood actress should basically tell you that sensitive guys aren't gay. you can be straight and like coldplay.

it always annoyed me when people said to me, "oh you're gay, you like coldplay." well those idiots all like coldplay now, so i got the last laugh.

and yes, i find it funny that these insults come from hollywood, which i can only imagine has a large homosexual base. i'm not surprised the average idiot would say that, but i think thats part of the joke coming from hollywood, that idiots say things like that.

so im not really worrying.

their just jealous coz their not cool enough to like them

WOW

From what I've read so far, there's been a lot of blame thrown on Hollywood, but I think it runs deeper than that. I think it's society as a whole that should be blamed. Obviously not everyone, because if there's one absolute, it's that there are no absolutes. If we didn't live in a close minded world, qualities such as sex, race, religion, sexuality, etc. wouldn't be an issue and jokes about these subjects wouldn't appeal to anyone. And I'm not sure how to fix that just yet.

gay is beeing used in too many situations. I admit i have said the word at times to represent something as being bad. But if someones making fun of someones real sexual orientation thats just dirty
