Hope this gig wasn't too good - I've still got my tickets sat here in front of me after not being able to make it!

I got there at 8:30 in the morning, unfortunately i had to leave about 10 to go to the doctor's because i felt so ill :( hadn't been well for a couple of days, and my throat felt like i was choking on a massive tennis ball before they gave me some anti-inflammatory stuff :(. i was so worried i get back too late and miss the concert, but some lovely people saved my place in the queue :)

from looking at the photos from the meetup, i now realise that i was queuing right behind you coldplaying gang :). I regret that i didin't go up talk to you, as i wasn't sure whether you were the coldplayers and was too shy to go up and ask. silly me! meet you next time though :)

I remember someone leaving the queue and not coming back, I realise now it was you. Hope you were better afterwards  I got sunstroke

yeah, i was the girl in the grey t-shirt. i am better now, thanks :)

I got sunstroke

aww :( i was surprised how hot it was (especially for Manchester :laugh3:) i forgot to bring suncream when i came back to the queue (and got a bit burnt ) but at least when we were let in the stage gave us some shade!

yeah I couldn't wait to get to the stage, not for front row but just to get out of the sun :laugh3:

I saw somebody else have to leave the queue they called for his/her mother and I think brother who looked quite concerned,I just hope they were okay

We saw one girl leave the queue after apparently being told off by her Dad... most bizarre!

sorry to report it was 10/10 :(

You're not helping Ian :blank: :P

They need to do more east midlands gigs

sorry to report it was 10/10 :(

It was an 8/10 in my book - 10/10 for meeting you guys and all the fun we had but less for the actual band and gig itself.

They need to play England more, full-stop. But they've always been obsessed with the US, and given how bands need to make that the target they're aiming at if they wanna be world-beaters, which Coldplay do, I guess they've got to :(

Really?! I mst have missed that. Oh dear.

I will get around to pics and vids eventually. Promise

That's Pete and his wise ways... no getting carried away like the rest of us! Such a level-headed gent, I'm just all fan-girly about the whole day

She was there really early and sat down not far behind us after they opened the gate, but then her Dad came and took her away around midday and I never saw her again

haha, that might have been me :) i was the girl wearing jeans and a grey tshirt, sitting acouple of metres behind you in the queue (i came about half eight). My dad had to take me on an unplanned trip to the doctor at about 11, he wasn't telling me off though.

I did make it back later, i was so happy i was back in time!

i didn't know you were the coldplayers at the time, i would have talked to you had i known :)

Aw, you're just being nice to me Miss Smith now I've told you how much we all missed you in London!! But, it's always good to encourage your students, so thank you :P

Yah, there's nothing fan-girly about me, but I really understand where you all come from with that :)

I just love this band so very much, from the top of my head to my toes, and through my every fiber, and have seen them on top-form so many times, I am super-critical I guess (but then maybe that's why I'm planning to move from teaching into critiqueing :P)

No Pete there's a little bit of fan-girlyness there!

Jk:lol::P

Joey, that was my private confession to you in Camden, whatcha doing writing it on the board??! :P

This concert seems like it happened soooo long ago

This was my first GA and queuing experience and I have to say it was so much fun to hang out with all of the lovely Coldplayers. The last few minutes waiting for the gates to open was very stressful, as was the run for the front, but leaning on the barrier at long last was worth it all. White Lies was awesome and Jay-Z just blew me away. Coldplay was on top form and even though Chris still seemed not all the way well, his voice still sounded good.

Here's some pics from the day:

My review!!

Ok so better start with this review first, as it was the first concert of my England trip :D.

After a glorious evening beforehand with other Coldplayers, meal and a few drinks, I'll admit, I was feeling worse for wear :laugh4:. I could see the venue from my hotel room which was cool, until they started testing the lights at like 1am which annoyed me greatly :P. Alas, I awoke at 6:30am after a few hours sleep and headed to the LCCC for the gig. The cab driver nearly killed me, but to be fair, it made me wake up.

So we all queued up that day, conversation flowed, we did some podcasts, joked around, bit of football until we got told off. Bit of sunburn for Ian if I remember correctly :p. It was really good queuing up until about 3pm when as usual people started pushing itching to get in. Some of the girls looked really worried like they were about to get test results from the doctors. Pete looked like he wanted a beer. Ian looked like he was chilling out. Eventually the gates opened and after a bit of run walking, and saving places, we all got to the front :D .

We waited a while until White Lies came on. The bass from their set nearly killed us all. Still, good band and very talented singer. Then we waited a while in the scorching heat until Jay-Z came on. He was very good indeed, great energy from the crowd. Towards the end of the set he noticed my Australia headband and gave me a shout out! This was the start of Jay-Z and myself becoming best friends (see the Wembley threads for more info :P).

Coldplay finally came on, I won't bore you with details because its already been said. Was a great night, and being with Coldplayers really made it! :D After the gig me and Pete went for a drink, then said our goodbyes to Mel, Mich, etc. Then we went out for more drinks, and before we knew it , it was 4am in the hotel bar :laugh4:. We had some really good conversations as well haha, what a great way to end the evening!! Top bloke is Pete.

And now for some pics... all have been scaled down to fit the site, if anyone wants HQ ones give us a shout :).

Gig rating: 5/10

Positives: It was Coldplay!

Negatives: Chris was sick (not his fault obviously) no Lost+, show didn't flow at times, limited crowd interaction, bass was too loud, lack of crowd energy.

This one is for Mich :D

Ah Mel, that made my night . Great review! Whee. Glad you got back safe .

Amazing photos Chris!!!! :o

I LOVE the red butterflies one Mel!!! :D

AMAZING pics Mel :)

And Chris, well you already know what I think about Japanese cameras (they are great) but you have a VERY good eye and also technique, I think you could be a pro. Post the shot of the butterflies and bean's fan on the Lovers of Lovers in Japan social group please :)

Done and done :). Thanks for the kind words. I posted a bigger picture in the group, and will replace the one in this thread :).

Great review Chris, and has been such a pleasure to meet you this last week. Another friend for life I've met through this band, and most especially this site :) But, 5/10? That's harsh dude, I gave them an 8 and felt the full fury of Miss Smith so get ready for multiple detentions :P

Pete looked like he wanted a beer.

He did!!

Chris, it was great my friend, absolutely perfect :) But tell me, who is this other fella called Pete who keeps cropping up, I'd like to meet him - he sounds quite nice!!

Those pics are pure awesomeness !

This show was like a warm-up for Wembley, for the band as well as for the lucky few coldplayers who attended it :D
