It is indeed a brilliant album but unfortunately it's also a 2008 album.

^^

i am aware of that. but it gots its north american release this past week. since a majority of people on this thread are from that region i thought i might bring it too peoples attention.

Of the 2009 albums I have so far listened to,

Vacilando Territory Blues by J. Tilman (drummer from the foxes) is the best.

Okay so it's the only album released in 2009 I have listened to so far :P

John Frusciante - Empryean

this is easily john's best record so far. ironically he has made more solo records than albums with rhcp (its 10 to 9) and in my opinion his guitar work in this album is alot better than it was on stadium arcadium and alot of it reflects the improvisation he did at every rhcp show during their last tour. his vocals are amazing as usual and when you think about it this is almost a rhcp album with john on vocals. because with him on this record you have flea and josh klinghoffer who was a full time touring member with rhcp in 2007. one of the best albums of the year so far.

I'll have to give that one a listen. Would you have a link by any chance?

Snow Patrol's A Hundred Million Suns

-Gary Lightbody said this is their best album so far.The album is simply superb,it debuted at #2 on U.K. charts and #1 on Irish

The Killer's Day & Age debuted at #1 on both charts

But they were released in late 2008

In my opinion it's his best work ever-with RHCP or solo, and as you know me well and how passionate I am about his music that's a pretty strong statement to make:).

fanfarlo has leaked.very much like arcade fire people are saying

Has anybody listened to Mando Diao's Give Me Fire?

As far as 2009 albums go I've only invested in two so far...

Tonight - Franz Ferdinand

and the White Lies one

both v. good especially the FF one, which I have listened to a LOT. I tend to get albums when they're already several months old - cos they're usually cheaper then

I know the Airborne Toxic Event was "so last year" ;) for most of you but it was only released here last week. Does anyone recommend it? I love Sometime Around Midnight and Gasoline is good too - but what's the rest like..?

It's taken them aaaaaaaaages to release that album, I really liked one of their songs a couple of years ago, I'll have to listen to this

Yeah, I've only listened to 30 seconds of a song and it sounds like an Arcade Fire cover band haha.
