Noel Gallagher to pay radio tribute to The Smiths to mark their 30th anniversary

 

 

Describing his favourite Smiths track as Hand in Glove, Gallagher said he had wanted guitarist Johnny Marr to play on his latest album.

 

He added: “I was musing it over with my producer and he said what about that Johnny Marr type stuff and I said you better call him because we can't play that.”

Responding to these comments during an appearance on talkSPORT Radio on Thursday (August 15), Gallagher said: "I read that Alex James said that - [but] it's news to me!"

 

However, Gallagher confirmed that he has started work on a new Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds album. "I've got tons of songs left over from the last one. I'm writing, putting stuff together. Yeah, I'll definitely make another one, that's for sure," he said. "I don't wanna go back out on the road, though - that's the thing."

The first thing that I thought when I was listening to the snippet on the Facebook Q&A was that the sound was very clear. I hate what Dave Sardy done with the first album. If I Had A Gun was completely ruined, the acoustic version it's beautiful.
