Mumford and Sons 1 of 3 A CHIPPY has seen a surprise sales surge thanks to a pop band. Chart stars Mumford & Sons have the same name as the take-away in Grays, Essex, but were named after their lead singer Marcus Mumford. The band was formed in London in 2007 and quickly gained critical acclaim. Their album Sigh No More went to number seven in December. Ron Mumford, 52, the shop's third generation owner, said: "Fans started coming in last year. Local radio picked up on it and it got busier. "I got the album for Christmas and like it a lot. The band are welcome any time for cod and chips."
