The singing isn't, and the drums and bells are live but the rest is.

Is for a good cause though I guess, is for raising money :)

Remember how I said I wasn't going to make it yesterday. I ended up going there with my sister after we saw "A Steady Rain" (BTW, Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman are very nice & hot in real life). We got to Hammerstein Ballroom around 10pm. We waited and waited and waited until 1am, it was friggin cold outside. No luck seeing Chris, we saw a lot of other celebrities though. Terence Howard gave us weird looks, he's a good looking man but no we were not there for him.

At about 12am, music started playing. Alicia Keys played her song "No One," I think Chris joined her for the last "oh oh oh" chorus. Then played one other song we couldn't make out. Then "Clocks" start playing, I am not sure if I heard a backing band just piped in backing music. It was nice to hear anything after waiting for so long, I did a little happy dance. Chris sounded good and didn't hear any big differences with the song other than Chris saying something at the end. We assume he was saying something about "saving the children." I think Chris maybe played "Trouble" but couldn't hear for sure. Then VLV came on. And for everyone wondering, Alicia Keys and backing instrumentals filled in for Will. She did a admirable job but she's no Will. And that was pretty much all the live music we heard for the night.

Thanks for posting this.

He looks like an empty-headed pop star

that's the proof Chris doesn't sound the same whitout Guy, Jonny and Will ;)

For what I can hear, they are singing live on a backingtrack

Thanks for posting these pictures of Alicia Keys and Chris Martin.

But it is strange to see Chris wear these clothes and a tie.

Is it just me - or doesn't Chris look older on these pictures? Even older than his age?

It must be the clothes! I had trouble in recognizing him.

And looking like that I do not find him sexy! I think his hair is way too short. :(

But his hair will grow (out) again - thank God. :)

I like to see him wearing tie and tuxedos though. It looks fantastic on men but especially him.

But agree with you completely, i hate his short hair right now.I am not happy.:(

But yes we hope it'll grow back again by the next tour as how we curly Chris hair lovers want it to be.:)

Omgomgomgomg the hair! It's all gone!?!? :( Oh no, the beautiful curls are no more *weeps* *composes self* I've always preferred Chris's hair mid length. Like it was in September when they did Wembley, I think that suits him best. I'm not sure if it's just me but I think when he has it all shaved off it makes him look older, dunno why. :\ He looks more youthful with it longer. I don't fancy him half as much this way, he's just not Chris without the curls! Well we all know he'll let it grow back. :D Haha, I love his attempt at formal suit attire. :laugh3: The bow tie! Never seen him in one before. The waist coat is very Justin-Timerlake. :P And the Adidas sneakers don't go with it at all. But it's kinda a shock seeing him on stage without the soldier viva uniform. I miss it. Alot! Gah, just hit me that that that's all over. No more costumes. I'd kinda got too used to them.

Lmao, just realised Alica Keys looked truly awful. Bad wardrobe choice. She does look like a rubbish bag. :laugh3:

you can add my name to the club of the "non-satisfied with CM new haircut"

but I really love the way he dressed. :)

Woah, well look at that...thats very nice outfit he's sporting there. And of course got to have to the adidas shoes on;)

Wow those pics are so great!!! :D :D :D

AK does nothing for me, the song didn't fit her, and Chris doesn't look the same without Jonny, Will and Guy! He is looking like Justin Timberlake with his shaved head,, It is a great cause and I am glad all those celebrities took part.:) Chris is looking healthy and happy to me.

OMG!!!! he looks so great! when i saw his Short hair i was likE WHOA not expecting that but it looks good!!

and omfg i LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE what he is wearing! SOOO HOOOT!!! omg i just died a little bit he is so damn fine!

i wanna see him preform at this!

Yes, me too. :o:( But, it is nice to see him in something different. He looks kinda seksi......:wink3:

I would just like to say...

I FINALLY GOT MY WISH OF CHRIS MARTIN WEARING A TIE. :wideeyed: :sweatdrop: :wink3: :bomb:

The waistcoat is a HUGELY appreciated added bonus :sneaky:.

I love the whole dressy look so much I can't even be bothered to complain about his short hair. It's a tradeoff, but the tie is SO worth it.

That is all.

:P

I want to see more videos!!!

I agree that Chris' outfit was nice - and I think that it was even nice to see him wear something else for a change. But I was so used to seeing him wear more sporty clothes that it was a total surprise seeing him like that. But I do not think that the Adidas shoes fitted his tuxedo. Playing his piano and singing in that outfit made me think of an entertainer like Frank Sinatra.

But look at the picture of Chris in post 74 - the riddles to the right of his eyes make him look older than 32 - like a man in his 40's imo. Not that it really matters.

Chris IS and WILL ALWAYS BE GREAT.

But I would like to see him with longer and curly hair though (and that is just a matter of time. :)

Oh dear God, I think he wore a pocke****ch too :bomb:. How I love that man :wacky:.

Gwyneth TOTALLY dressed him for this event.

EDIT: I find it hysterical that it just auto-censored the word "pocket watch" without the space

More on the piano won by Chris:

The evening also included a live auction with some amazing items. Terrence Howard kicked off the auction by engaging in a (playful) bidding war with Queen Latifah for a 7-night stay at the Caves in Negril, Jamaica. Valued at $9,150, he won it at $20,000. Also up for bid was a 7-night stay at Sir Richard Branson’s home on the British Virgin Island including two first class tickets, a team of 60 staff, business facilities, fully equipped gymnasium and all meals and drinks. Valued at $27,000, the Branson auction raised $440,000! Chris Martin won the bid at $200,000 for the Yamaha Grand Piano used by Alicia Key’s during her “As I Am” tour in 2008 and recently at her 2009 MTV Video Music Award Performance with Jay-Z.
