Most of the songs on viva la vida actually, with the exception of one or two.

I dont like 3 or 4 off of X&Y, most notably Fix You. It has an amazing meaning, just well annoying...

Fix You, Violet Hill and Only Superstition are my least favorites. They have a few other "meh" songs, but those three are the only songs that I genuinely dislike.

I remember that I wrote that I didn't quite like Sparks and Lhuna in another thread with similar topic. I've changed when it comes to Sparks. Okay, not the best song ever but it works. But Lhuna... it's the only song that I can say that I don't and will never like. Don't know if it's Kylies fault but I don't think so...

Edit: ... and maybe The Goldrush. But that song is at least listenable, Lhuna is not.

Sparks is a song I've loved more and more over time, but I agree with you about Lhuna. It seems more like a Kylie song than a Coldplay song, and it has a very uncomfortable feeling to it (uncomfortable songs can be good, just look at Radiohead, but Lhuna's just bad).

My tip for a song you don't like: Listen to it about 3 times when you're in a really great mood, worked for me with Strawberry Swing, (thank God!) Sleeping Sun, A Whisper, Amsterdam, Swallowed In The Sea, Crests of Waves and Bitten By The Tailfly.

The album vers. of Hardest Part... just cant get into it.. and the 1st half of Strawberry Swing.... it reminds me of a ho-down! LOL

I do however love Hardest Part on LRLRL

1. God put a smile upon your face

2. Twisted Logic

And I sometimes think I listen to U2 when I hear Square One, White Shadows or Low. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

When I hear Lhuna (which isn't often) I feel like I'm watching an opening credits scene for a James Bond movie.

Of the album tracks:

Sparks - It's still a snorefest for me. Music to be played in a café in the background.

We Never Change - Same as above

A Whisper - Sounds like an attempt to be like Radiohead. A bit of Noise Rock in there. I don't like it though.

Fix You - I did like this song, before Radio 1 overplayed it to death and it just became very irritating.

The Hardest Part - This song has always been just a little bit crap.

Swallowed in the Sea - Originally my favourite off the album it was on, now one of my least favourites. It's catchy, repetive and annoying.

Lost! - Another that went from like to extreme annoyance. It's such a blatant U2-esque track that I just can't bear it anymore. It's anthemic, yes, but I'm pretty bored of anthemic.

42 - My least favourite Coldplay lyrics ever. The chorus of "You thought you might be a ghost!...made it close" is also really irritating after a while.

Strawberry Swing - I still don't get the hype behind this track. Plus it also reminds me of boring Sundays with my grandmother, so that's possibly why.

Well, there we go. I'm a fusspot but looking back, that at least means I at least like/can tolerate virtually all of Coldplay's album tracks. Rush of Blood only has 1 track up there, which is somehow liberating for me. I now realise how much I enjoy the album played in order.

WHAT!!!??? I disagree with every song you mentioned APART from Sparks.

Fair enough Fix you and The hardest part, but STRAWBERRY SWING??

I understand A Whisper, that song sucks.

I don't get why you don't like 42, it's so complex in a good way.

I've got to say (hopefully not being hippocritical in any way) that I Bloom Blaum is...Crap.

It makes no sense, is boring, but I appreciate the chords used

Also...Pour Me is just not Coldplay. Wheb I heard it for the first time, i was dissapointed!

I hope I havent offended anbody...........?

Clocks - when I was younger I always remember going to the mall and hearing it, I just never got "that" feeling out of it.... enough said :dozey:

there're 2 songs I don't like ... Moses and Pour Me

when I first listened to those songs, I didn't want to listen them again .. they're annoying for me .. kinda noisy and boring .. and i don't like lyrics either

sorry if anyone loves those ones ( & I'm sure smb does)

I don't care if I've offended anybody. That's the point of forums. :laugh3: (I'm only half-joking)

Ironically I don't mind the songs you mentioned. But seriously, I don't understand how 42 can be complex. Other than the intro and the outro there's only about 2 chords played through the whole song.

i dislike Clocks.... the lyrics are terrible imo.

i also do not enjoy I Ran Away. no reason, i just dont like it.

This kinda makes me think, should they stop trying to be anthemic? I mean it's clear they are over almost every album (bar Parachutes sans Yellow) most songs are simply trying to be anthemic. Maybe they should try something different.

God Put A Smile Upon your Face. Too blunt.

oh and also Rainy Day (shit song) and Tragic Kingdom.

Tragic Kingdom?

A Whisper grew on me like crazyyyy. :|

I think my new least favourite track is now I Bloom Blaum... What is with that song? :S

what is this magic?

I suspect "Tragic Kingdom" is meant to be Viva La Vida

I like these threads because they really make you hate people.

I appreciate A Whisper in the context of the album, but I never listen to it on its own.

What if is pretty weak, with a generic arrangement and terrible lyrics, it really shouldn't have been on the album because it kills all the momentum square one built up.

Fix You is easily the most hateable coldplay song. I almost never listen to it, but its great for what its meant to be. I can't say its crap, just that its a flavor I don't like to swallow on a daily basis.

I'd say the weakest part of X&Y are songs like A Message & Swallowed In The Sea which come off as formulaic and uninspired. That said, for love songs with bad lyrics, its done really well, particularly Jonny's input. But while they both have decent melodies, it feels like Chris could have brought something much more unique or interesting to the table, and that's why I'm generally so-so about those tracks and X&Y as a whole, because the novelty wears off before the album is finished. (btw I have nothing against THP, I know people don't like the general sound of it, but its wonderfully produced and is chockful of nice little riffs)

I've always been so-so about lost! because I think it tries to be more than it is. I want to hate VLV but can't...I find Rainy Day a bit annoying because I don't like the way parts fit together, and as far as b-sides go I only sorta dislike 'The World Turned Upside Down'

*Just because I didn't mention a song doesn't mean I completely love everything else, just that I don't dislike it enough to mention it.
