Hahaha nah it's all good Chris. Your advice was a pretty safe bet. Shit happens when you gamble.

Yeah its annoying because switzerland only had 3 shots on goal, maybe one of which actually hit Casillas. I presumed that if Switzerland did score, they'd be playing better than expected and have a lot more shots.

Hitzfeld ftw! Back to being under achievers i guess. :laugh3:

West Germany (twice) and Argentina in 1978 are the only teams to have gone on to win the world cup having lost a group match.

and no one's won the world cup after losing their first group match. Wouldn't it be something if France, Italy, and Spain miss the group phase?

I hate Spain...I'm not raging because they lost...I'm raging because Casillas lost me 5 fucking points.
I had two Spanish defenders, one of which was Pique who also missed a sitter!
:uhoh: :book2:

AGAIN CHRIS, WTF!?

Anyway, Spain played really well but missed a lot of chances because of Switzerland's kickass defense. Nobody was expecting that from them.

Let chrissy be

Switzerland - tactically SPOT ON. Ottmar Hitzfield showing just why he won two Champions Leagues with Dortmund and Bayern. Sensational result - almost akin to Senegal v France in 2002. But at the end of the day, Spain were just too predictable. Hitzfield clearly told his team to push Spain out wide rather than through the deadly Spanish middle of Iniesta, Xavi and Alonso and it worked wonders! And when Torres and Navas came on all Spain did was spread the ball to Navas on the right and it became way way too predictable. What a result!

I think Switzerland played great. It wasn't spectacular but it was rather effective.

They didn't make a SINGLE mistake. Perfect.

And they were close to win 2 - 0. Besides, they're still not receiving a single goal!

WHo plays tonight ?

South Africa - Uruguay

exciting now to move on to the next round. Today's game won't be too conclusive because it's deadlocked and every team in group A could qualify or be knocked out in the next round.

It's terrible how Robert Green has become a household name around the world now! As one of millions who witness the English Premier League week in week out, we would never know that the man from lowly West Ham would go on to be a world star - an infamous one in that!

p.s - Robert Green made his England debut IN the U.S back in June 2005 only they were playing Colombia that day and Sir Michael Owen scored another classy hattrick in a 3-2 win!

For me he is still best english keeper, from my dear West Ham:cool:

 Great game by Switzerland!

I agree, they played just awesome!

Robert Green has shown a sharp improvement in training. Today out of 450 shots none hit the back of the net. Rumour has it Green and Heskey will be allowed to train with the rest of the England squad tomorrow.

What a beauty!

Forlaaaaan!!! What a great goal!!

I have no idea what BAFANA BAFANA means, but it sounds Goddamn funny.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing him ina few premier league games this year and noting that he was really good.

it means 'the boys the boys'

it was like watching the Fed own Rafa.

very cute.

Loser of Greece vs. Nigeria tomorrow is out. Winner of Argentina vs. South Korea is in.

Already wracking my nerves over U.S - Slovenia Friday. Remembering 2006, our friendly loss to Czech Republic, and the fact that there have already been much more significant upsets, a loss is very possible. And what's worse is that a win would automatically qualify Slovenia, so our only hope would be to out goal England. Then again, if we can't beat Slovenia, we don't really deserve to qualify....It'll be fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine. *twitch*
