I'm a new enough fan to have never been on these boards when an album has been leaked.

Infact I'm not certain which LP has been leaked in the past, I heard that VLV was leaked, but I dunno about the rest.

 

I'd just like to know how these come-about really? And how long before a release date does it generally or possibly happen too? Cause even though I really hope that LP5 is not leaked, if it is, I am not strong enought to resist the temptation of getting it asap :( I'll still buy it ofc when its released for real, but I just will not be able to wait any longer!

as far as i remember, X&Y got leaked, but the final album version was a bit different (i got both)

 

I remember all the VLV leak stuff :awesome:

but i got to listen the album when they uploaded on their myspace page few days before the album was released, i think the leak version was around back then but i didn't got it.

And yeh, I'd love to be involved in the hyseria behind a leak, I got caught up in the untreleased demo's thing a while back, the one with Bloodless Revolution and St Stephen and The fall of man etc... But that is hardly as cool as an album!

VLVADAAHF was the first leak i experienced...the source of that leak was from a justin timberlake forum of all places...not sure how that person ended up with copies of it but i was also here for the demos leak...the story goes (if i remember correctly) that the person who leaked it to us got some old tracks off of the bands discarded computer memory or something to that affect...i have a feeling i may be way off but im too lazy to dig up old threads....

Yeah, VLVODAAHF was my first leak too, and I found them at iheartradio.com. I was amazed and wanted to listen to them, but at the same time I didnt want to listen to them. But I ended up downloading them and listened to every song that night. I remember listening to DAAHF twice. I also remember listening to Strawberry Swing and not liking it :laugh3:

But I love it now!! :D

I wasn't a member of this forum back when Viva leaked, but you can bet that I was excited as hell when I found out it did leak (and no worries, I did buy the actual album too :P). A leak can happen as much as a month in advance or as little as a few days beforehand. For example, I remember that the latest Phoenix album leaked over a month prior, but the latest Muse album took until like 2 days before release.

I wasn't a member of the boards when VLVODAAHF leaked, but I did manage to come across a leak and I stayed strong because I didn't want to be spoiled and didn't listen to it until it was released and I soon after bought a copy.

 

I don't think I'd be able to restrain myself next time.

vlv leak was epic, I still remember having to study for an exam, and listening to it several times, brilliant songs all over...only Chinese Sleep Chant I didn't really like.

With smug self-righteous indignation, I've been telling myself that I will not succumb to any leaks if/when they happen, but after reading "the leak thread" my knees are weak. I wasn't around back then but I'll be around this time and I CANNOT WAIT. I'm going to be d/l that shit so fast I may sprain a finger. (but I will also buy 2 copies -- one for the house & one for the car)

I have promised myself not to succumb to leaks :smug: I'm gonna buy it the day it hits the stores, even if that means having to stay away from Coldplaying for as long.
