Jeff Buckley : 10th anniversary concert planned

 

 

A concert will be held to commemorate 10 years since Jeff Buckley's death.

 

'The 10th Anniversary Los Angeles Birthday Tribute Honoring' is set to be hosted bu Jack Osbourne and will take place on Thursday (November 15), the same date as his birthday.

 

The event will see "30 performers and special guests" playing at The Key Club on Sunset Boulevard.

I've been listening to jeff a lot lately and how i wish i could've seen him live but i guess that's impossible now :bigcry:

I've been listening to lots of his stuff lately. I bought the dvd of him live in chicago. It's quite interesting and the music they produce is top quality. He really did expand the boundaries of music. Sad how it all tragically ended.

Who else loves Jeff's voice & songwriting??? I can honestly say he's one of the best performers this world has seen, anybody heard Live at Sin-e?? and I cannot describe how beautiful his debut Grace is, I mean, really, Last Goodbye, Grace, Mojo Pin, Lover You Shoul've come over, Hallellujah (i know it's a cover but's way better than the original) It's a real shame someone who's so talented is no longer with us...

I agree. I havent listened to the extra stuff that has been released, but obviously i have grace. I have to say it took me ages to get into his music but when i did i loved it, not just liked. Erm yea, wonderfully unique voice

I know this is a popular opinion, but Grace is AMAZING. Not just the songs but he has such a powerful voice...if you haven't checked out that album yet, I strongly advise you do. I'm so pleased that recently it's gotten so much appreciation. Mojo Pin is particularly great, but the whole album is great just get it, you'll be happy you did.

And how about his other material I know he had one other (incompleted) album released, how does that stack up to Grace?

It's called "Sketches (For My Sweetheart the Drunk)," and it's very different from Grace. It's a two disc set, and pretty rough, mostly something I think die-hard Buckley fans would be into. The first disc seems pretty complete, but apparently they were takes Jeff and his producer were not satisfied with - I think something about the quest for a better drummer concerned them. Overall the album has a raw, darker and haunting feel to it. But I personally think there are some real gems here - Morning Theft and New Year's Prayer, just to name a few. I agree with you though, "Grace" is an amazing album!

As a welcome present, here's unreleased song, you may not have heard yet. It's a duet with Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau twins, Massiv Attack). Jeff wrote this song for her when they were dating and they recorded it but it was never released.
