Balloons: On a boat on a the Thames a group stood with their balloons raised lit up as part of the video

Fantastic!!!! Ooooh, so who can recognise themselves?!?!?!

It's so exciting finally seeing pictures of what you all experienced! :awesome:

The boys are back: Coldplay film the video for latest single Christmas Lights on London's South Bank

They haven’t released a new song since early last year but after months of working on their next album Coldplay are finally ready to do what they do best.

The English band will be releasing their latest single ‘Christmas Lights’ on Wednesday December 1.

Frontman Chris Martin, 33, treated fans to a sneak peak of the new track yesterday as he and the band filmed the video on the South Bank of the River Thames.

Viva la voice: Frontman Chris Martin clutches at his heart before reaching for the sky during filming of the video

The rockers performed the song surrounded by old instruments on a theatre –inspired stage complete with red velvet curtains, an Elvis-themed backing band and flashing lights.

Aboard a boat on the water a group of people were lit up holding balloons which were then released en mass into the night’s sky.

Coldplay’s long awaited next album, the name of which has not been announced, is the culmination of months of work from the group.

Front man Chris Martin told Q magazine that the album took inspiration from the White Rose movement where a group of young people living in Germany in WWII printed anti-Nazi flyers.

The Viva La Vida singer said: ‘I admire it. I've spent a lot of my life playing it a bit safe or conforming to something, even though I don't agree with it. So I have great respect and admiration for people who don't.’

Scribble: The boys posted a handwritten note to their site telling fans about new song Christmas Lights

To announce the release of their new song a handwritten note (right) was posted on the official Coldplay website dated 24 November 2010.

As well as telling fans that the song is written in the key of G, the release date and that it will be available on I-Tunes, a portion of scrawl had been scribbled out which fans have worked out to read: We are doing the video right now. It is a mid-tempo number.

The single marks the bands return to centre-stage, but it has been Chris Martin’s wife who has been hitting headlines recently by flexing her musical muscles.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 37, has received rave reviews for her single ability and acting skills playing Kelly Canter in the movie Country Strong.

And Martin was on hand to give his wife a helping hand teaching her how to play the guitar for her role as the country singer.

The Oscar winner stars as an alcoholic singer who embarks on her career resurrection tour after she is plucked out of rehab by her husband.

The Nashville-based film also stars Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl fame and Garrett Hedlund.

Christmas Lights is out on Wednesday December .

Gwyneth's new film Country Strong opens in US cinema on December 22

Oooh, no I didn't mean you at all!!! Sorry, I guess I needed to reword that! I meant some of the negative posts in here being condescending, like they'll say stuff like 'I was there, you weren't, I know what happened, so there!' - like they are somehow superior for their experience

Sorry about that! I edited my post to be a bit clearer! :)

Oh :laugh3:

It's fine then, I was like :stunned: when I first read it haha

Wow, I can´t wait for the video!

:awesome:

well, thanks, cindy :charming:

Now I'm home form work and I have to say "Best night ever!!!!!"

Not only starring in a Coldplay video, but to actually see it being made, then to meeting Phil and Chris.... just unbelievable.

I thought I would share my photos on my Chris encounter and a scan of my picture I received from Phil - which Chris signed the back of with a personal message just for me!!!!!

I loved that Chris asked if we were all okay, the crew handed out hand warmers to ensure we stayed warm and when Phil came over and told us we looked amazing on the boat.

But the best moment ever; Chris and Phil began walking towards us; getting closer and closer...I rushed to get my camera ready and gave it to my husband (the guy in the shorts who had been waited so patiently with me) in case I had a chance of a photo op. To our surprise they handed out the awesome signed photos; then Chris unexpectedly moved the barrier and came and stood with us as he signed the reverse side of the photos he has just given us. He asked us if we were okay, and said he had time for one photo op, but luckily my husband snapped a picture of me with Chris as he signed my photo.... what a moment. Also shook his hand and told to him to "Keep up the good work; and say hi to the others."

Totally amazing & awesome night. I was so nice to put faces to the names of the Coldplayers, I loved meeting you. Also a huge thanks to Ian, Jen & SueDeNimes for running the competition and organising everyone. Also thanks sooo much to Coldplay HQ for organising the Boat Trip for the fans in the first place.

I also thought I would post the poem I wrote as my reason for being on the boat :D (Hope thats ok)

I've written this little "Reason in Rhyme" why I would wish to come. If this doesn't tug the heartstrings, it won't be for the want of trying!

"The Trip - An Ode to the Joys of A Cruise" - Lisa (aka Piggy)

Although it may be a 'Rainy Day' and most likely we'll all 'Shiver',

Imagine watching 'Daylight' fade, as we urge the "Sleeping Sun ' to hush.

Just sailing on the 'Crests of Waves' together,

Do you need 'Proof' that this would be 'Such a Rush'?

It should be only 'Green Eyes' I'd see, not green faces,

A 'Glass of Water' for my sea-legs, feeling queasy!

Should have paid attention to the 'Warning Sign',

Long for the comfort of land's 'Gravity'!

But 'Don't Panic' dear friends the Captain won't get us 'Lost',

We travel at 'High Speed', hopefully not 'Swallowed by the Sea'!

We 'Talk' of great times, exclaim 'Viva la Vida',

My 'World Turned Upside Down', now in ecstasy!

Soon the 'Clocks' would signal the end of the trip,

Now we face 'The Hardest Part' together.

Sad faces as we head back to 'Square One'

But knowing we're 'Bigger and Stronger' than ever!

'What if' I had the chance to shout 'Yes' I will come!

Be allowed to travel with the 'One I Love',

There'd be 'No More Keeping My Feet on the Ground',

'The Escapist' in me desires to join in the 'Reign of Love'.

So 'A Message' 'For You' my 'Brothers and Sisters',

'I'm Easy to Please', so consider my boon

It won't just be 'God Put a Smile Upon Your Face', I would too,

So hopefully I'll 'See You Soon'!

Oh my, on a second look of this pic, Guy appears to have his hand in a fairly inappropriate location on Will!

^so true about Guy's hand :D

I think it's just his cuff is loose which makes it look that way, but I thought all the fangirls would get a kick out of it!! :laugh3:

What about Jonny's? :wink3:

 and Chris' reaction!

^ HAHAH! There's some heavy groping going on :wink3:

Oh, Chelsea! Your story and your description of it were so beautiful and funny too! How many people can say they talked about their body functions with Chris Martin? :P

I could not help grinning like an idiot while reading your story. Congratulatons and thank you for sharing it! :)

and those pictures!!! They all look so smart :D

and you all look so pretty holding the balloons :wacky:

After yesterday's craziness, I'm really excited about this again! I can't wait for it to be Wednesday so I can listen to the song and see the video!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are going to make such a hype about it from now =D cant wait for the next few months!
