December 3, 201015 yr What a fantastic Christmas present it would be if everyone who participated in the video was to receive a surprise copy of this in the post in the next few days. In the unlikely event that this actually happens, this thread can serve as a massive "thank you" to everyone at Coldplay HQ. If not, I hope someone can explain why "physical" copies haven't been made available to everyone who was there, as they would represent a perfect souvenir of the occasion. This isn't about getting a "freebie", by the way. I'm pretty sure everyone would gladly pay for a copy or donate money to Crisis for the privilege of being able to get hold of one.;) WIN A SPECIAL CD VERSION OF THE SINGLE Although Christmas Lights will only be released digitally, some very special pop-up CD versions have been made, with sleeves hand-written and signed by the band. Only 100 exist, and we have 5 to give away to Messenger readers. If you'd like one, email your name and address to [email protected] before Wednesday December 15th. One entry per person please.
December 3, 201015 yr Author Huh, and what if i live in another country? Were you on the boat for the video shoot? If so, they will have your address. As far as the competition itself is concerned, it's open to anyone in the world.
December 3, 201015 yr Author That everyone who participated in the video would appreciate having a "physical" copy of Christmas Lights as a souvenir, irrespective of whether it's free or not.;)
December 3, 201015 yr Oh. Well definately. But I doubt that it would happen. It would be a very very nice surprise though. As a collector myself I would give anything to get a free copy of this. At this point I even think that only a handfull of people have seen it
December 3, 201015 yr Author It all goes back to what was said before. There are certain individuals who went way OTT in their whinging about the boat trip not having lived up to their (over-inflated) expectations. That being said, I'm sure that if everyone who participated were to receive a signed copy of Christmas Lights, or even an unsigned one now it has been revealed that they aren't going to be made commercially available, even the most vociferous of the complainers would be satisfied.;)
December 3, 201015 yr I don't think I like this thread... It seems kind of greedy to be honest. It was one thing to be joking a bit about it in the Messenger thread which I did with a few others but... I don't know, I just don't like it.
December 3, 201015 yr If you read your contract you will remember the second part of it mentioned something about a digital media and having a digital watermark so that they would know about piracy. I honestly don't think they wouldn't send us something, maybe just different to this. It seems odd they have 100 copies and there were 100 peeps on the boat?
December 3, 201015 yr I agree with Anna. To discuss (or dream) about this in the Messenger thread okay but create a new topic for it feels way to greedy!
December 3, 201015 yr Why can't people just be happy to have been in the the video. Why do some people always have to be gimme gimme gimme.
December 3, 201015 yr Create a thread all you want, they won't change their mind and suddenly give those who went a physical copy each. So it's rather pointless don't you think?
December 3, 201015 yr If not, I hope someone can explain why "physical" copies haven't been made available to everyone who was there, as they would represent a perfect souvenir of the occasion. are you waiting for an explanation why you guys won't get a copy? what a greedy person come on' and it's getting annoying to see like 200 Christmas Lights threads in my opinion :blank:
December 3, 201015 yr seriously? first of all, it's more than just the 100 of you who would like a copy of Christmas Lights. I'm pretty sure all of us here would kill for a copy. second, haven't you gotten enough?! you're in a Coldplay video, you got first dibs on the Phil Q&A for the website since everyone made them feel so guilty... this thread is just greedy.
December 3, 201015 yr being on a Coldplay vid isn't fantastic enough that one has to ask for something else, and i don't think ColdplayHQ owes anyone an explanation why some people didn't get a physical copy. this is making me feel really bad, because while many fans would do everything to be even just on the boat, others who were there just can't be satisfied with what they got.

It was one thing to be joking a bit about it in the Messenger thread which I did with a few others but... I don't know, I just don't like it. I agree, we were just kidding around about it in the other thread. I'm in the video, that's more than enough for me.

The opener of the thread is one of the persons who told Phil and the band personally how grateful we all were, despite some few complaints by others, and what an amazing and special experience it has been for us. Though I probably wouldn't have opened another thread for it and stated it differently, I think the point is just that some people usually are unwilling to buy a download. And since this single means such a lot to us, we'd rather like to have a physical copy. I think this thread only exists because we won't be able to buy one. So I think Mark's just trying to say that if they don't want to release physical singles anymore, then in this case he'd be very glad if at least the ones on the boat were able to get one (even if they had to pay for it). I agree in the point that I'd be happy if there were some physical copies to get. That's my opinion on all singles with songs I can't buy but as an mp3.
December 3, 201015 yr But asking for explanations in case you people don't receive a cd it's very greedy and stuff. It's like there is a big double standard, at first telling the band how grateful you are but asking for more stuff after that. Now it looks he just did that to look good. Plus, if there is a limited number of copies available and they decide to give most of the copies to people who went to that boat thing, it wouldn't make sense for the 99,99% of the fans who couldn't be there. The 5 CD copies contest is the best they can do if they have a limited number of CDs.
December 3, 201015 yr I have a burner, you want me to make you a physical copy and send it to you?? Oops...that's not legal, is it? nevermind me... :P (man, I signed a contract with EMI, hope i dont get in trouble just making a bad joke.. :uhoh:)
December 3, 201015 yr ^ Hell, yeah, I'm gonna make my own EVEN MORE limited copy and paint my own cover and sign it myself, thank you very much. :P :uhoh: Don't kill me EMI!
