New Coldplay eh?

Featured Replies

I'm all for skepticism, but I feel like some of you are being excessively negative. Pretty much writing off the entire album before you even listen to it. Like yeah, ETIAW isn't good, but it's one song, and it's the only song that we've heard a studio version of so far.

I enjoy listening to the live versions of those other new songs, but I can see why some people aren't planning on listening to them, because honestly they're still in the early stages of performing those songs (I've always felt that Coldplay has some pretty sub-par performances for their first few shows; which is understandable as they would still be getting used to playing the new songs live). I think that judging the album, either with an excessively positive or negative view, before hearing more than one studio version of a song, is just dumb.

I think it's best not to have any real views on it yet. because if you go in expecting it to be the worst thing you've ever heard, I feel you're just going to be looking for every negative thing you can find. Or, vice versa, if you go in with an overly positive attitude, you're not going to want to acknowledge any flaws it might have.

Everything at this stage should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm kind of just dismissing any viewpoints I have on LP5, both positive and negative. I'll give my judgment when I hear it.

THANK YOU! ahah

Oh dear! :D I've done my fair amount of criticism of my favourite bands (strangely I don't know who my 4 favourite bands are but you do) If you want me to say kind things about Radiohead then I'll say it. It's just you going on the attack and getting all defensive....makes you look like a Radiohead fangirl. Though that was a great digression into the subject after I said I don't really feel there is a greatest band in the world.

Now where were we? Oh yeah! Coldplay's new songs!

Not asking you to say anything nice about Radiohead, it's fun to take the piss out of you, you're very sensitive when Noel Gallagher is questioned <3333

Also, I think plenty of people are actually included in the category you've included me, RH fangirl/boy before I am genuinely worthy of that title. And, haha what's with the butthurt comment, aren't you big on Coldplay, Oasis and U2?

In the end, they'll think whatever they want to think about it, I'm just waiting for a nice Reign of Love-ish track and that's about it.

Well done. I am big on those three bands. I'm obviously so fun to take the piss out of that you have to write extended responses to my not so worthy comments.

Never said your comments are not worthy of responses, they would be unworthy of my response if you came up with "CHRISSY WAVED AT ME <33333333333"

I totally agree. Regardless of whether you think I'm a fanboy or not I'm not a fan of the fangirls or their blind fanaticism. I'm sure there was a time when the Coldplay section had good discussion on their music and not on their hair which has just turned that section into something reminiscent of what's probably on a Jonas Brother's forum.

Which is why I mock Coldplay fans in general, it's not even about them making music I dislike, although I will always admit Chris Martin degenerated his image for me the past few years, which is another factor.

that's exactly the way it is....

I'm also a person who always has been missing songs in the style of the first two albums and I don't like ETIAW but at some point we have just to live with their development. Maybe the next era will be more darker when they finally find out that working with Eno is not the ultimate source of creativity.

Then as Keddie has said we haven't heard the whole album yet, this makes a huge difference. If there were just tracks like Viva on the last LP I would not like it either.

We will see what the next months will bring, maybe they just want to test which new songs receive the best reactions at the festivals.

Yeah, Coldplay section gets defensive even when it's not about the music. The only thing I hate more than Coldplay's (mainly Chris's) political stunts are fans talking about how courageous and socially-aware they are to support certain causes, organizations, and individuals. That's stupid and it's a big reason that section of the forum has turned me off. But that's getting away from the music. There's still at least half the album we haven't heard, so even though some of these other songs show some promise, I've seen some people already declare it Album of the Decade in spite of only hearing a handful of songs which aren't even studio versions.

Exactly. Thank you for further emphasizing how stupid it makes people sound. :P

Haha yeah well I mean, not to make the album seem crap but so many years ahead and so many promising bands as well as stablished bands? Plus, Coldplay could easily release something a lot better in the upcoming years. It's fairly ridiculous and it wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of fanboys/girls said that.

album of the decade? one kid called it album of the century

That's not just typical for this messageboard, I assume that these kind of statements are in almost every fan forum .....it is even in the word fan(atic)

Someone said something like "ETIAW is one the greatest live songs of all time"

Anyways I've had the tune to Major Minus stuck in my head all day.

I can't tell how good it is... but its fucking catchy.

I hope that these same fans see a newborn baby and say "This baby is one of the greatest babies of all time."

My face is the greatest face of all time.
