Have they lost their minds?

And I hope you have a wonderful time, honestly.

If you enjoy the music, then enjoy it and don't let anyone else's opinions influence that.

Thx, you are all right. :laugh3:

I'm ashamed because they barely habe 5 albums and their going downhill. But that's just in my opinion. I also think that they shouldn't be making these radio friendly songs to be bigger, bigger doesn't always mean better.

lol thats what she said

Bigger's always better. :wink3:

Nah, in all seriousness I agree. Appealing to the masses is not the way to go, since the masses in general really don't know what good music is.

I like Christina. :wacky:

Anyway, its a really shame that people in here are not liking the new songs. I came here now because i only now got a chance to heard Paradise, and yes, i like it. I mean, its not a Scientist, a Talk or the best song they ever writed. But its really nice, and i can wait to see it live.

And like all their albuns, there are some songs people will not like...But i dont think you can say that Moving to Mars, ETIAW, Major Minus, Charlie Brown are all garbage overproduced....

It is a shame that people are so critical about the new sound. It seems a bit narrow minded to think that Coldplay should only be producing a certain kind of music. They are free to experiment and personally I think if their music sounded the same as it was ten years ago you would think that they had not really improved or developed as a band.

The new songs off Mylo Xyloto are great, they are cutting edge, modern and relevant. Coldplay have used their creativity to perfection.

All who are saying negative things about the band, I think that you weren't fans of Coldplay you're fans of an album (Parachutes, ARBTH, X&Y...) or of a song but you didn't know!

Coldplay is an excellent band and I love the new songs and all that they do! :)

After hearing Paradise I am starting to feel like I'm more of a fan of Parachutes and AROBTTH than the band.....it's barely the same band.

I honestly think that Coldplay have not lost their minds at all. In fact, they just discovered a new realm of music they feel comfortable in. I do like Paradise A LOT, but I understand that its hard to let go of the cherished sounds of Coldplay past. I believe that the boys have hit a vein in their musical mastery and are growing as individuals and musicians. They have worked for 3 long years on MX, and I am really excited to hear it and to buy it as a thanks to them for working as hard as they do. As for everyone saying that Coldplay is dead: that's complete garbage. They are still Coldplay, and how do I know? Because when I listen to Paradise or ETIAW or Charlie Brown or HLH, I get that feeling inside of me that I get when I listen to Yellow or Sparks or The Scientist or Fix You. It's a feeling that's hard to describe, isn't it?

I think that it's ok that you like only that albums, but I also think that this forum was made for fans of Coldplay and the fans don't attack, the fans give support! :) That's my opinion

I agree.

For me it's Parachutes+AROBTTH+a bunch of songs since then (A Message, Moving to Mars, Gravity, and a few more).

Nobody attacks, we criticise. Being a fan also includes criticising. Criticising is a form of support.

Well, a "form." :P

There's a great brazilian comedian, Chico Anysio, that once said: "there are only two kinds of joke: the funny and the unfunny ones". The same could be said about music.

I honestly don't give a crap if they're trying to change or not. They changed for VLVODAAHF, and it was a great album. They're changing for MX, and I didn't like what I've heard so far. At the end, it all comes down to whether you like it or not, and I didn't like it.

Aha a ti si kao Luka Modrić! Ja sam žena Nike Kranjčara. Hahahaha! I odakle ti pravo govorit protiv ljudi koji rade za forum, svatko ima pravo na vlastito mišljenje.

Sorry guys for posting in Croatian but I just had to.

Bla bla bla bla Luka Modric!

He's a great player, isn't he? COME ON YOU SPURS!

Few more days and this song will be from the history nothing special and the same was for every tear drop is a waterfall, it is forgotten now, even the radio people doesn't play it anymore, and the problem is you made these two songs to be played in the radio and they even not in the radio anymore, Please respect your fans not the radio people!!!!!!!!!!

It's interesting to see how everyone is receiving this song. There are a lot of opinions floating around and things being said about Coldplay. Oddly, I feel like I need to defend them on this forum, which I don't think I've ever felt before.

Let me start off by saying, that I actually really like Paradise. I'm not saying it's their best song ever, but I give it a solid 8/10 based off of my enjoyment. Also, because the sounds is new, I expect it will grow on me and lead me to like it even more in the future.

I just want to say that I do not understand the comments about this song being pop, and not a typical Coldplay song. Although the sound is new, at the very core of it, it has Coldplay qualities. From the "ohhh's", to the falsetto, to the melodic vocals, to Jonny's guitar riff. I think they have found a very interesting way to present their sound. I don't think it sounds like anything else I have heard, from Coldplay, or any other band. It is heavy, yet beautiful. That slow driving drum beat and blistering bass make for a very intense listen that makes me want to bob my head. When they play this song live, I think it is going to blow me away. The sound is immense and I really think it's going to make an impact in the setlist.

This is NOT pop. It is very clearly alternative rock. It is more of a rock song than most of their material. I like that they are reinventing themselves. I don;t want to hear the same stuff over and over again. I'm not saying I like every song they put out, but I am a huge fan of each and every album and it is very clear they have been evolving. For those that think they are selling out and settling for mediocrity, I beg to differ. This band has the hardest work ethic out of any musicians I know. They are trying to bring their fans something that hasn't been done before. They slave over each and every album until they are happy with it. When it comes down to it, Mylo Xyloto is the album they wanted to put out, and frankly, it deserves a complete listen before any serious judgement is passed on it. For those already hoping this is "a phase" they will grow out of, be more patient and wait for the album. Coldplay have never dissapointed me, and I'm sure MX will blow me away, yet again.

I really don't think they are intentionally changing their sound to appeal to a wider audience. They are making the music that they want to make, and whoever listens, listens. It just so happens that they happen to be putting out great music, and more and more people choose to listen.

What a fitting song:

I feel like spamming his music all over the board.

not pop?

...are you sure we're listening to the same song?

^It's pop. But in my opinion it's a little more alternative pop (does it exist?) whatever, it's not a radio song, Charlie Brown is more catchy and it really feels like a radio song.

On top of that they let the negative criticism get to them too much after X&Y. They got so popular people started belittling them (NY Times article calling them "most insufferable band ever") and then Chris Martin said "We won't be seeing you around for a while" at that awards show, with his tail tucked between his legs. He should have told them all to fuck off and stuck to his guns. I remember reading interviews of them after that point, talking how they were embarrassed and didn't know what to do with themselves... and then they hired Eno. Rest is history.

Funny how they were embarrassed after X&Y, but aren't embarrassed to wear these silly matching outfits with the cheap-looking decals ironed onto their clothes, looking like a poor man's version of Sgt. Pepper, singing trite songs like Paradise. What happened to the UK blokes that wore jeans and just cared about making beautiful music? Oh yeah, I forgot, they got money. That's not to say being rich makes you a bad musician, however as we've seen throughout history over and over again, a lot of times the passion/originality is never the same.

You said it perfectly. I've been a fan of Coldplay since Day 1 and had high hopes for this album...ETIAW was horrid and Paradise has proved even more disappointing. It's as if they're trying to write these grand sing along songs for the stadiums.

And the lyrics? Dreadful. Chris has stated he wanted to work on lyrics and we got this?

Dressing up in uniforms, lauding the brilliance of Take That and trying to get their dance/hip hop, Jay Z influence in has, in my opinion, taken them off track.

Although I'm sure there will be songs on the album I like, to me they've lost what made them great.

They care too much about what other people think.....and this is the result.....

what song is it? It's only available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland D:
Sorry, I didn't know!

It's a beautiful live version of this song:

Hope this one works for you.

All his songs are amazing, if you like this listen to "Sort of Revolution", that song started my love. :)

^If they really cared about other people opinion they would rewrite A Rush Of Blood To The Head over and over again, everybody likes that album, critics, fans and people who don't know the band very well. These new songs are different, not safe territory for them. And I like the clothes, they fit with the songs, are not random choices.

How can you not get it? What people have been saying is that they are trying to appeal to a BIGGER audience. Those who have not yet become their fans. Those are the majority that play major role in choosing which song will be on the billboard charts, mtv charts and the radio plays. Those who listen to Rihanna and One Republic. Those are the audience that some people in this thread are saying that Coldplay are aiming for.

On a different note, I do agree that the hideous outfit, the horribly striking watches, the different coloured shoe laces a-la high school kids, and the stupid haircut fit perfectly to ETIAW and Paradise, but only because both the songs and the outfits are equally horrible.

Well, ETIAW wasn't my kind of song, Paradise either. They're Ok, maybe not bad songs, for me definitely they're not great.

My only hope is that within MX, apart from Major Minus, we could find also songs like this one.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBsQVP-Olmw]Kasabian - Days Are Forgotten - YouTube[/ame]

This is the best I've heard in months, quite frankly. And it was unexpected that is coming from Kasabian, whose first record is the only I've liked of them...

Life is full of surprises for better or worse...
