Will LP6 now be what Mylo Xyloto was initially conceived as - an acoustic record?

Featured Replies

Since Mylo Xyloto did a 180 from initially an acoustic record to arguably their poppiest album to date and with mixed reviews (ala X&Y), do you think LP6 will be more of an acoustic record?

Personally, I think it might be. Since A Rush of Blood To The Head was followed by X&Y and it wasn't as well received, they re-invented themselves just enough with Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends to win over critics. Well, now they are following that success with Mylo Xyloto and it's getting a mixed response, it almost feels like a repeat of the AROBTTH to X&Y period. So I think the next album may be what MX was intially going to be like.

No, I don't think so. They said in the XFM playback interview yesterday that they scraped the whole item of doing an acoustic record because they weren't sure how it would work live and that they didn't know where the excitement would come from at the live shows. So instead they created an album that had a large mix of songs. As much as I would love an all acoustic album, I don't think it will happen.

Dudeeee!!!! Mylo just came out 2 days ago, do we really need to start LP6 talks.

Can we not start talking about LP6 yet. :inquisitive:

:shame:

Yeah, sorry, it just popped into my head this morning that the reception to Mylo Xyloto is somewhat similar to that of X&Y, so I was just curious what people thought. Funny thing is that I find I like a lot more individual songs on both X&Y and MX than any of their other albums, although I still feel AROBTTH is their best overall effort.

we're already looking forward to LP7, keep up!! :p

My thing is LP 9,322. It's gonna be great :dazzled:

I like this thread just for a reason:

Here in Greece there was a rumor that Coldplay will split after releasing MX... lol... and I was very worried.

So this thread confirms the opposite, if Coldplay had announced that they wont release any other album and I hadnt noticed that, there wouldnt be any talk like this in this hardcore fan forum!!!! I am very glad about it! I am expecting LP 18992779200297722 !!!!

Coldplay (particularly Chris) have started rumors of possible splits, but it's far from the case. They're all mates, friends and musicians and it wouldn't make sense for them to stop, let alone their record deal isn't done yet...so there will definitely be more on the way.

As for LP6, I don't know what to think, and I don't want to think anything.

This is the time of Mylo Xyloto and I think this graffiti era is really creative and colourful, just like the album - so enjoy it while we can because soon it will be gone! :)

Ive thought the same dude, but actually, I really like what Mylo Xyloto became! But as others have said, lets not mention LP6 until Chris's hair starts to thin

I think it would be terrific if they did an intimate club tour with acoustic versions of songs. :smug2:

It doesn't matter; at this point, whatever they do from now on is pretty much guaranteed to be good, if not absolutely brilliant.

This would be fantastic if you were one of the very few who scored tickets. I don't see this happening. They are too big and I don't think they'd want to leave a majority of their fans out in the cold.

It could be half acoustic thing. Considering how LP5 turned into electronic-acoustic album. But LP6 definitely should have more stripped sound, because that's the only logical direction they have after MX.

They could do a dubstep-jazz-crossover. :idea2:

For me, some of their best music came in the period BETWEEN Viva and MX. An album with songs like Lukas, Fun (both given away to Imbruglia), Don Quixote/Spanish Rain and Wedding Bells would be ideal. These songs are great because I think it brings out the 'pure' Coldplay, without an overproduced air. And they are not too acoustic though.

What the "Fun" song???

I doubt it but I kinda hope so....

What the "Fun" song???

No, because they've got the bug for Enofication of their music.
