ITV: Coldplay confirmed to perform on X Factor Final on Sunday 11th December at Wembley Arena

Just seen it - great performance BUT they should never, ever have dignified that absolute dross with their presence.

Gutted.

For the 1st time, the yes and the don't care have over taken the no. LOL Chris always acts in the best interest of the band. He's willing to contradict himself and take the heat.

The "nos" were way ahead before the apparent huge influx of new X-factor visitors and forum members, so I think the vote is meaningless now.

I think they ALL believe they act in the best interest of the band, and this time Chris and Jonny (was it?) won out, but in the short term at least I don't think this will work out at all well in the UK - expect more casual fans than ever before in the next year or two, only there to hear the hits and enjoy the wristbands and confetti...

A very sad day for the band imho.

^^ Do hope you're not making fun of my slight (only slight, of course!) obsessiveness and/or general madness :laugh3:

It's times like those though when I'm really glad I live in a detached house and so don't have neighbours who can hear me when I almost break my floor from jumping too much

Chris said it, as they get older, their audience gets younger and prettier. I can attest to that b/c at my gig 2 1/2 months ago, the audience was dominated by young people, and they already knew some of the MX songs before the album even came out. I had my sons with me, and hope to take my future grand-children to a Coldplay concert one day. I really love how things turned out. I'm sure they have gained more fans for life than they have lost. They know where the future is at.

Had to come back to Coldplaying just to say that that performance was incredible. I love how when Chris sang "the stormy night" the wristbands flashed like lightning. :)

It was a great performance, but no I still don't agree with them doing it. It made me feel a bit sick during the build up when they showed clips of Yellow, IMP and The Scientist.

Regardless of the performance it still went against everything they claim to believe in. They're an awesome live band, so they were always going to blow everyone away and their sales will sky rocket, which I guess is why they did it in the first place... :\

I'm sorry but this is just bad. :|

Meh, I don't mind them doing this show. As long as they continue to create amazing music for years to come, I don't care what shows they do and how 'commercial' they become. I don't know of any band that wants to stay 'indie'...don't they all go into this to make music, make money and gain fans? They are brilliant and the world is really starting to catch on. I'm proud to have been riding the 'band wagon' since 2002, though. ;)

At the end of the day, its just me and the boys on the way to work and from work every day anyway. Every single day since June. :D

Sesame Street?

Yup. You better get with the program.:P I read that Moses was waving his wristband the other night.

Is that a trick question?:)

@Taliaa

There are a lot of fans from Toronto. That 2006 concert was: :awesome:

Yup, and its nice that they love us in Toronto too! No doubt there are fans who have been liking them for even longer than I have; I was just making a point that I loved them then and I will always love them. I don't get the whole sell-out concept...the success window of a band is getting shorter and shorter. They are working hard and getting themselves out there while the iron's hot. I think its great. :D

This. Though I think the band will have a very long life.

I couldn't agree more. I grew up listening to Neil Diamond and Julio Iglesias albums on repeat, my parents' music obsession - I know all the lyrics in English and Spanish too. :)

Not to disrespect either of them, but I'm proud that Coldplay is my music obsession and both my kids adore them. Maybe one day they'll really appreciate it instead of rolling their eyes as my sister and I often do remembering the dining room family dance sessions to 'Love on the Rocks'. Feel like yesterday...
