hi dee! firstly i'd like to point out that your thanks is at 420

um cool! I wasn't really sure what I was going to do for this, but I noticed on your last fm that you hadn't really listened to much hip hop but you had heard Madvillain and J Dilla who are 2 of my favourites! I was also in quite a 90s hip hop mood which would explain the 90s feel.

COOOOOOOL

may aswell spoiler this

Track 1:

Opener is a nice little jazz piece, I assume that is what genre it is. It's uptempo and pretty cheesy and elevator music-esque, hahaha. My sister informed me that this is a cover of some old and classic song. Completely escaped my mind after she told me. I guess I should know it, tbh I know fuck all about music.

Anyway, around 45 seconds in, the tempo slows down, and it starts to sound a bit more sexy, haha. This is when the song starts to get really interesting for me. Prominent drumbeat and a electric guitar going on in the background. There's this sort of 'swirling' or distortion of the sax and that's nice too.

Interesting song! You show right off the bat that this is not gonna be like your average mixtape. Would I listen to it in my free time? Perhaps.

This is What's Goin On & Aint No Sunshine - Bernard Purdie. both are pretty well known songs I'm surprised you didn't recognise them. Bernard Purdie is a drummer who's been sampled a loooooot in hip hop. I thought it'd be nice start to the tape. Glad you liked it!

Track 2:

Woah ok now we've got some hip-hop! Some old school hip-hop. Very '90s. The beat is really catchy. It's like a loop of someone noodling around on a piano and an instrument that I can't identify :huh2:

There's a lot of scratching and sampling of voices through the end of the song. Rapper's voice sounds really familiar, like it would be found in my big sister's record collection. I really, really like this! Can't wait to hear who's it by. I mean I can always Google the lyrics, but that's no fun, is it

This is Work by Gang Starr, a duo of DJ Premier and Guru. Two amazingly talented people

Track 3:

"We got the jazz, we got the jazz, we got the jazz" etc.

Two people taking turns rapping. This one is a lot more chill and less 'aggressive', if that makes sense. This time they're rapping (can I call it rapping? It's more slow and rhythmic in this song) over some hushed and quiet synth notes. In the chorus, someone playing the sax.

Someone mentioned that it's 1991 in the song, so I guess I'm safe to assume that I am listening to '90s hip-hop. Or maybe he's alluding to something, or maybe he's a pathological liar.

Good stuff. Would listen to this one too.

Jazz (We've Got) - A Tribe Called Quest. One of the most well known/legendary hip hop groups. I just really like their voices. Soooooo chill. I thought you would like this.

Track 4:

Track 4 flows so seamlessly with track 3 that it took me a bit to realize the song was over. Here are a group of people having a chat and soon they start shouting "REPRESENT!!!!! REPRESENT!!!!!!" Not sure if I want to, but thanks for the offer.

Nice and catchy beat, as always. This one is more about guns and shooting etc. which I didn't notice any of the previous songs having. I guess this one is more h@rdc0re idk.

Wow this guy has a lot of people to shout-out to. He's been calling out names for like two minutes. Also he mentions that this is from '94.

Would I listen to this again? Yeah, perhaps.

heh, this is Represent - Nas. Definitely more h@rdc0re. I'm not really a fan of the hardcoreness but the beats and rapping on this album (Illmatic) are really amazing. It's another famous/legendary album. Nas hasn't made anything as good as this since it came out...('94, you were right)

Track 5:

Live band in this one. More jazzy, less hip-hop. Woah, that's cool. Sounds a bit orchestral. Lots of instruments going on that I can't identify :disappointed: There's a violin and piano, for one.

More scratching and sampling of voices. We are still in the same 'theme' of music, but this sounds less '90s and more like a tribute to the '90s.

This is basically instrumental and is just something calming to listen to. We're now at the end of the song and that big concert of instruments has simmered down to a violin and some percussion instrument. I don't know what it's called, but I know I used it in music class in third grade. It's being played over and over and it's starting to get a bit old. But hey, it's a cool instrument, I can see why he likes it.

Pretty likely that I'd listen to this too.

This is Slim's Return - Madlib, who you might know as one 1/2 of Madvillain. I know some of this was played live but I think the majority of it is samples.

Track 6:

Sax sampled in the background. Another fusion of jazz and hip-hop. Wow this might be the best track yet. Really upbeat and interesting, something you'd listen to when you walk around the city, strutting like a confident asshole, and it'd make your morning routine a lot less menial. Have you noticed that you haven't let me down yet? Am I too easy on reviewing or are you just that good? Hmm...

This sounds inspired by the '90s too, but it sounds much too 'modern' to be '90s. Are we moving chronologically?

This is really catchy! Poppier than the rest, and I am a sucker for pop music. Nice one.

Around My Way (Freedom Aint Free) - Lupe Fiasco. Everyone seems to hate this song because the beat is a recreation of

. I guess it's a little disrespectful as the original song is really personal but hell Lupe sounds amazing on this. I can confirm that it sounds amazing when walking around the city like a confident asshole.

This is from 2012 btw.

Track 7:

We've definitely gone in a different direction. I mean, it's still the same genre, but now the beat is entirely computerized, or on a synthesizer or something. Rapper's voice is tough and aggressive. He has someone joining him in the chorus; a friend with an equally tough and aggressive voice.

The voices and the beat start distorting a bit, like someone was sitting in the studio pushing a lot of buttons and messing about with all the options.

Not really feeling this one, sorry. Beat is not really interesting and their rapping is pretty monotone and dull.

Rhymin' Slang - JJ DOOM. I can't say I'm a huge fan of this either, but I thought I'd put it in. Doom is the other half of Madvillain. He's a great rapper but idk this is pretty poor...

Track 8:

String section, reminds me of the one from our favorite PARA-PARAAA song. Sorry.

A band playing again, mainly drums and some synths or a keytar or something. Sounds good to me. And... a female voice! First time I've heard a female in this mix.

Smooth and pretty decent voice, she must be an R&B or soul singer of some sort. The mix of a band, high-pitched synths, and this girl's voice is intriguing.

And now a man's voice. I like both their voices. R&B singers have the most calming and sexy voices.

I like it, but I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone, does that make sense? Like it's really catchy, but it's not that well put together, imo. These two singers, in the context of a band, can create something really beautiful and grand. But I don't really feel that the actual instrumentals work together.

Bliss - John Legend & Teyana Taylor. This is from the newest GOOD Music album/mixtape (Kanye West's label thing). It's produced by Hudson Mohawke, a UK dance producer who I love. Not a band! I understand why you wouldnt feel like the instruments work well together, some of Hudson Mohawke's stuff is pretty bizarre.

Track 9:

Simple drumbeat, with some sort of male R&B singer. I assume the song name is 'Kaleidoscope Dream' cos he says it a lot. Like the last track, I feel like that it has the potential to be sooo catchy and good, but it doesn't entirely satisfy. Not bad.

Kaleidoscope Dream - Miguel. another 2012 release. This is probably my favourite album of the year, I love how simple it is. I chose this song primarily because it kind of worked in the hazy/psychadelic transition I was making but I would recommend some of his other stuff if you think he has potential.

Track 10:

Another perfectly seamless transition. How are you doing that? I made no effort to do that on my mixtape. :disappointed: Anyway...

Very pop, very electronic, high-pitched female voice. Pretty different to what this mixtape has been so far. I can tell we're off to a completely new direction. And a male voice joins. He sounds indie. If that makes sense. This is some sort of indie act I'm supposed to know about.

Short but sweet.

I Am A Light! (Unknown Mortal Orchestra Remix) - Grayson Gilmour. Not a girl...haha. This is the only New Zealand track on the mixtape! That must be the lowest number I've ever had. very indie. the indiest.

Track 11:

God, love at first listen. The guitar and drums are captivating, and the distortion of sound is so pleasing to the ears. Fusion of R&B, electronic, and a bit of rock, I suppose? Best I can describe it is the sound of a club underwater. Holy crap, it's
beautiful
! Thank you.

Jasmine - Jai Paul. I knew you would like this! everyone should like this. He only has 2 songs officially released but they're both incredible...pray that he releases an album one day...

Track 12:

Sounds like the xx. Minimalist and pretty instrumentals, with a soothing female voice. No complaints here.

Devotion - Jessie Ware. XX? hmm, okay. Yeah, this is just pretty and harmless...

Track 13:

Very bubbly and loud intro, very in-your-face compared to the atmosphere of the last tracks. Seems to primarily be a tape replaying? Or some heavy distortion of synths (new drinking game: a shot for every mention of "'90s", "distortion", or "synths". Keel over and profusely vomit by the end of this review)

This is actually quite nice! It grew on me with more listens. It sounds like a mess, but a nice mess. A mess that you'd like to rummage through and roll around in.

Hall - Baths. I wasn't sure how you would feel about this. Butt yeah, it took me quite a few listens to get into it too. A beautiful mess.

Track 14:

More uncannily xx-esque guitar and vocals. A lady vocalizing and a man chattering away. Very chill and very short, I guess this would be an interlude on an album.

Outro for nyc - Vondelpark. Violet put something from Vondelpark on the mixtape she made me a few exchanges ago. I really like it. Not gonna lie though, I only put this here so I could have a better transition to the next song...

Track 15:

Someone playing around on a child's xylophone or something. And now an accordion. Ohhh, I know this! You know why?

A friend recommended me this album and I enjoyed this song the most. This song is sampled from your track, I guess. You learn something new every day.

Sounds so 'empty' without the rapping, but I must admit, the singer's little vocals near the end are so nice, been replaying it cos of that.

Experience - Daedelus. Hah, yup. I noticed Accordion was your most played Madvillain song and figured I'd put this song on. I really like it as a stand alone track but yeah it does sound really empty.

Track 16:

And we're at the end. That went by so fast.

A heartbeat, and then a mix of instruments, going at intervals where it's pretty slow for a few seconds and becomes rapidly fast for the next few seconds. This is basically the basis of the whole song, it's all instrumental. I keep trying to listen to this but it goes in one ear and comes out the other and nothing really stands out at me. It's nice of course; none of the songs that you've chosen have ever made me think 'no, get it over with'. But it's not really interesting, sorry.

aw man, Hands - Four Tet. This is one of my favourite songs of all time. It's very messy but again to me it's a very beautiful mess in my mind. Oh well.

---

My favorite tracks are #11, #2, #3. #6 #4, #5, #1, and #12, in that order, I guess.

Who made my mixtape? Hmm... I think it's Malcolm-Edge. I've heard him talk about hip-hop here and there. If not, maybe Twisted Mind, because she's pretty pissed off and impatient right now, and it took me more than a week to do this, ha.

naw

8.75/10

that's at least a BNM on pitchfork

A few songs were a bit bland for my taste, most were catchy or fun or really beautiful and entrancing! But nothing I couldn't stand. I could listen to this mixtape all the way though over and over, and I will.

Thanks for making my first mixtape exchange a really unique and interesting one!

+1 but a bit less upset... Just impatient.

I'm crying

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the tape and the tracklisting! Now I know where to look for new music :D Like I am getting myself some Foals and Sufjan Stevens. I heard of them before but was never bothered to go through a CD. Now I have to! :bomb:

[*]Avril 14 - Aphex Twin (Druqks)

[*]Chinatown - Wild Nothing (Gemini)

[*]Ponytail - Panda Bear (Person Pitch)

Woohoo! Aphex Twin and Panda Bear's Ponytail! Ponytail is such a cute song. I can play it on repeat and repeat and repeat :wacky:

And Wild Nothing! :awesome: (I have to listen to this mixtape too)

Hi, I am your mixtaper.
Radical Face! That's nice :D I am probably not the only one to admit I got at the artist by that commercial Welcome Home, but yeah :) glad I did.

Hey Brent, my name's Marie and I'm your mixtape maker :)
THE RUMOUR SAID FIRE <3 I am sooooo into their new CD. omg. Thanks for putting them on the mixtape. BRENT, get yourself some The Rumour Said Fire. They are really good.

And Blonde Redhead :wacky:

^I learned about 23 from my mixtape maker last year. Wonderful tune:D
:D Because it's so good. Marie knows

I am still waiting for a review of my mixtape as well. Maybe people that still have to review can give us an update like The Final Track did? Then we know how much longer it might take.

Oh sorry, I was still updating my post. I meant the mixtape I made.

hi, i finally had time to listen all songs together and write my review. I can't write very long reviews like others did, sorry for that :disappointed:

btw, you couldn't delete all the informations about all artists, so i can see some name of artists, but no problem :smug:

1. such a good beginning to the mixtape,in my opininon, first songs always make a good impression on the whole album. I feel like I'm watching a movie from 70s or 80s, i really liked this song

2. hm, female voice. Normally, i don't like female voices so much. I liked the lyrics :smug:

3. uuu i like the beginning. Are they from 90s? i feel some 90s spirit in that song  Maybe it's because the beat at the background, it's such a nice song to take a walk on a seaside :wacky:

4. I have no idea who they are  after in 1,5 mins, it goes pretty fast, and i loved that beats. but i'm not sure if i liked the vocal, he sounds familiar to Jónsi which i like his voice. i think I should listen another song of this artist.

5. The XX, I've became a fan of them since their new album released, I'm listening music from the program called Spotify, I listen Indie radio from that program every day so it makes me a the xx listener

6. Great intro, i like the beats background and its harmonie with other sound (keyboard?) but such a depressive song. maybe it's because of the vocal's voice, anyway it's good!

7. ahhh this song reminded me a song which i used to love so much, i can't remember the name! ffffck :bomb: oh i love the voice and guitar :wacky: after 2.5 mins, it goes pretty well, soothing and relaxing..

8. after those slow songs, this song began a little bit faster :dozey: ugh, i couldn't feel the same way like i did while i was listening previous songs, i didn't like this song, sorry :\

9. hm, nice voice and guitar again :smug: but why vocal is trying to make his voice thinner?? his normal sound is way better than thinner one.

10. the flaming lips. I started to love that band thanks to Chris Martin,. different kind of voices in one song, pretty cool :smug: oh yoshimi... :wacky:

11. wow ,that song has just started and ended pretty quickly. I mean, while i was thinking of what to write that song, it has finished :o it's gone like a wind

12. i know that sound too. this also sounds like previous songs, pretty vocal with a pretty guitar. it sounds very good after 2nd minute. i think that's gonna be my fav song :D

I just realised that your mixtape is 42mins :charming:

anyway, my fav tracks are:#1, #6, #7 and #12.

8.5 / 10

I'm gonna add some songs from that mixtape to my spotify starred songs, i recommend you to listen music from spotify if you like those kind of music programms. As I said before, i like indie&alternative radio app of that programme, and most of the songs from your mixtape are very familiar to me from that radio.

Thanks for your mixtape, i really like it

It's very hard for me to guess who made my mixtape, because everybody in that from loves same kind of music :D

Oh sorry, I was still updating my post. I meant the mixtape I made.

Ah that's ok, like I said I'm glad you got the tape and that you got the theme of it so well cos I did feel a bit awkward making a tape that's a bit personal. But I got over that and turns out it worked well :)

Mixtape Review 13

I should start by saying a little bit about the tape itself. What struck me first is that, when read in the playing order, the track information reads "She's a little pilot in my mind, singing songs of love to pass the time". This I of course noticed as an Oasis quote (which I love) and got me excited for this tape. The tape is called "Up With The Birds", The name of all the artists is "The Byrds", and the album cover is of a little bird. So this tape seems to have an overarching theme of birds. And now…to the songs….

1. Alright first track. It's a bluegrass sounding instrumental, which I love (you don't see things like this pop up around here too often). Almost sounds like some of Del McCoury's stuff. Great violin and and thing there's a mandolin too. I really have a soft spot for this kind of music so I'm glad my partner included this. Works well with this fall weather….

2. Ethereal sort of opening but quickly becomes a harder rock. The riff gives me an almost "Kashmir" vibe. Y'know, very desert-y sounding. Acoustic guitar comes in breaking the segments of heavy drumming and electric guitar. There is sort of groaning/yelling in the background but it's barely audible. There may be lyrics but I can't understand them. The think this would be a really great song for a soundtrack

3. Acoustic picking. Really folk sound, sort of a Fleet Foxes style of writing, but it isn't them. There's some tambourine and violens to. Very beautiful song. Some "doo doo doo doo doos" in the there. One of the lines is "Filling your lungs, bring you back to life". I really like the lyrics in this song. They're kind of simple but work well with the music and create good imagery. I'm really interested in knowing who this is, cause I think I'd really like this artist.

4. Distorted electric bass and bass drum beats. Definitely electronic drums I think. Some kind of theremin type keyboard too, not quite sure what it is though. I love trying to figure out the instruments in these types of songs. I don't listen to a whole lot of electronic but I like this, it's sort of chill. Yeah, I'm really digging that theremin sounding instrument making the higher pitched sounds!

5. Really sparse instrumentation with organ chords and some reverb heavy guitar pretty much making the core instrumentation. Female singer this time. It's a very haunting song. The melody takes some unexpected paths which I think is cool. Like, it doesn't necessarily always stay the same, the singer throws in some odd notes. There are some ghostly male background singers towards the latter parts of the song. Really cool tune.

6. Really fast sputtering noises. Joined by fast keyboard riffs and some robotic banging (I don't know what you would call it. Very busy arrangement. Singer comes in but is barely audible. Sounds like Matt Bellamy or Thom Yorke type vocals. It's a very Thom Yorke kind of singing with some falsetto. I could see this being him but I don't know.

7. Another guitar picking song. It's a female singer. She has a really good voice I think. This is a really good companion to track 3, though this is more of a love song while track 3 was kind of like a heartbreak song . I really like it. It's a really happy song.:)

8. Organ chords make up most of the instrumentation in this song. Musically it reminds me of the War on Drugs, with the atmospheric organs and stuff. Oh nice, there’s trumpet too! “He’s the only one that knows the words” is one of the lyrics.

9. Oh I know this one! This is Meadowlark by the Fleet Foxes. This songs really showcases Robin’s vocals. Like the title and artwork this song also has a “bird” theme, which makes me wonder if the rest of the songs either have bird related titles or themes....

10. Starts with what sound like electric drums. Interesting sound effects in the back that seem to move without any rhyme or reason. Sounds cool though. The drum beat changes every now and then. There are a few vocal bits but there under heavy effects and heavily cut, as one might do in a remix or something. I notice some keyboard thrown in the back too.

11. Happy beginning with some bell/xylophone sounding bits. Very folky. Musically it sounds like the Fleet Foxes but vocally it sounds a lot like John Mayer (at least to be), although the chorus kind of makes me doubt that. I heard a bird mentioned so maybe I was onto something before. I really like this, and it might be one of my favorites on the tape. Actually it sounds like there might be some steel drum too, which would totally awesome! Might just be a creative guitar tone though

12. Starts with some quite piano. Some reverb heavy vocals, a male singer. I really love the lyrics in this one. Sort of weird, yes, but there’s something I find very heartbreaking about them. I remember when I first heard this mixtape this was the song that really stood out to me and I don’t really know why. A meadowlark is mentioned again. The piano has a really classical sound to it with some nice “fluttering” bits every now and then. It sounds like a woman might be singing background vocals at one point.

13. This is a very danceable number. Very “club” style, almost dubstep at many points. Great riff. I don’t really recognize the singers, which take an almost hip hop style of vocals, but they have that sound that could be any number of people. At some points the song sounds rather sinister, I like it. Some really great drops too. Really cool song I thought, even though I’m not a big fan of dubstep and this bordered on dubstep for me. Good pick.

14. Another slow acoustic song. It’s a good follow up to the previous song as it’s a major change in mood. It’s one of those very relaxing songs. It seems to be about forgiveness.

15. Final track. Interesting vocal percussion and a really soul sounding keyboards. remind me of one of those 70s churches where everyone stands up and claps. Actually, the whole song has this kind of 70s funk/soul thing to it. I feel like I’ve heard this artist before but I can’t quite place who it is. Sounds like there are a lot of singers but I could be wrong. Lots of that “Good Lord y'all” stuff. I like this a lot, it’s really fun. The “vocal percussion” is the best part.

I’m sorry my review took so long! I hope you’re not too mad at me! I really liked this tape. Some of the songs were right up my alley and were completely new to me while others were genres I haven’t really explored, but had a good time listening too. I got introduced to some songs I probably wouldn’t have looked into otherwise so thanks for showing me them!:D

Hellooooo, Cheese Nip! I made your tape. :D My comments about the tape will be put in your post in blue.

That's an Oasis track? HAHAHA, I didn't know that. I had pulled the lyrics from a live Coldplay snippet entitled "Songbird," which fits in the bird theme that I've stuck to for this tape. As you have probably figured out, the theme goes to the song names, too. Each song has a reference to a different bird (and, in a couple of songs, two). I've never put so much thought into a mixtape as I did this one, and I'm quite proud for managing to do this from scratch. I was really nervous when you told me that I could do whatever I wanted with your tape.

When I had my track choices worked out, I knew right away that this had to be the opener. It's called "Cuckoo's Nest," and it's by Nickel Creek, a lovely bluegrass group who, unfortunately, have been split up for quite some time. (Their last album was released in 2005.) This track is from their self-titled album. I'm really glad you like this. :nice:

Nah, there aren't any lyrics. This group typically doesn't have lyrics to their songs. This is by a band called *shels, and it's kinda hard to pin them down to a genre. The song is called "Crown of Eagle Feathers."

Oh, good! I'm glad you like this so much. This is Fionn Regan from Ireland, and this is his song "For a Nightingale," which is from his most recent album. If you really like this, you should definitely look into him. This is very typical of how he sounds as an artist.

Well, it's kinda funny, because while this is electronic in nature, that's not how this band sounds all the time. This is Alaska in Winter, a band who I first came across in my very first mixtape exchange. This is their song "Night Falcon Returns," and while the album name suggests that it's a motion picture soundtrack, I don't think it is one. But yeah, like you said, it's very chill.

Their music tends to be very haunting, which is why I like it. This is "Swans" by Esben and the Witch. The band name is based on a Danish folk tale, but the band hails from England.

Yeah, it's Thom Yorke. This is actually a Radiohead B-side called "Where Bluebirds Fly." I've always been rather fond of this track. :wacky:

7. Another guitar picking song. It's a female singer. She has a really good voice I think. This is a really good companion to track 3, though this is more of a love song while track 3 was kind of like a heartbreak song . I really like it. It's a really happy song.:)

I never thought of pairing those tracks like that. Interesting. This is Christina Perri, who is best known for her songs "Jar of Hearts" (her breakout hit) and "A Thousand Years" (her contribution to the "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack). This is her song, "Penguin." I was particularly happy about putting this one on the tape because penguins are my favorite animal.

8. Organ chords make up most of the instrumentation in this song. Musically it reminds me of the War on Drugs, with the atmospheric organs and stuff. Oh nice, there’s trumpet too! “He’s the only one that knows the words” is one of the lyrics.

I figured this would make a nice interlude for the tape. This is "The Peacock" by Beirut, a band who I have grown to love very much. I'm especially fond of Zach Condon, the vocalist. :dazzled:

9. Oh I know this one! This is Meadowlark by the Fleet Foxes. This songs really showcases Robin’s vocals. Like the title and artwork this song also has a “bird” theme, which makes me wonder if the rest of the songs either have bird related titles or themes....

I knew you were familiar with Fleet Foxes already, but this fit the theme of the tape so well, and I love how it fit in. I decided to leave it and give you a bit of familiarity within your tape. :nice:

This, my dear Cheese Nip, is James Blake. I love him so much. :dazzled: He let out his debut album last year, and he was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2011 award. (Unfortunately, Jessie J ended up winning it.) This track, called "Buzzard and Kestrel" (which refers to two different species of bird), is from one of his EPs that he released before his album hit.

Here we have another Irish artist. This is James Vincent McMorrow with his song, "Sparrow and the Wolf."

If there is any song that I have to say I love more than any other on this mix, it's this one. The music, the lyrics...UGH SO BEAUTIFUL. This is by a guy named Sufjan Stevens (first name pronounced SOOF-yawn), and this is his song, "The Owl and the Tanager." (Again, two different birds.) This is without a doubt one of my favorite Sufjan songs, and if you like this, you should definitely look into the rest of his work. It'll be worth it. Trust me.

Good pick.

It's actually drum-and-bass, which I guess is kinda a subgenre of dubstep. (Maybe. I don't know.) Anyway, this song is called "The Vulture," and the group is called Pendulum. I came across this band via my Muse Radio station on Last.fm, and I've grown to be quite a fan of them.

14. Another slow acoustic song. It’s a good follow up to the previous song as it’s a major change in mood. It’s one of those very relaxing songs. It seems to be about forgiveness.

Yeah, I put this track here on purpose for that reason. I'm glad you noticed that. :nice: This song is called "Please Forgive Me (Song of the Crow)," and it's by a guy named William Fitzsimmons. To me, he has these magical, breathy vocals that take you some place else. I really dig this guy, and I hope you do, too.

The artist in question is Cee Lo Green. You might know him as one of two people from Gnarls Barkley (the other person being Danger Mouse), who did that song, "Crazy." If not, you might also know him for his hit song, "Fuck You." Like you said, this is a neo-soul sort of track. (He's known for doing that.) It IS a really fun track, and that's why I put it as the closer. This song is called "El Dorado Sunrise (Super Chicken)."

No worries! As I said, I was really nervous when I put this together, so I'm REALLY happy that you like it. Thanks SO much for the positive review!

I've heard he's very good (on his forum actually), but I never gave him a listen. I definitely will now!:)

I've actually been getting into his stuff lately, especially Gnarls Barkley. I love how they mix soul with some newer sounds. That's funny, I thought he was saying Super Chicken but I thought "No, I couldn't be", but what do you know, he was :P

No worries! As I said, I was really nervous when I put this together, so I'm REALLY happy that you like it. Thanks SO much for the positive review!

You are very welcome! It was a pleasure to listen to!
