^ Because they're not the same *notes*, but the same chords in the same order.

It's definitely an intro.

By the way, beautiful reviews everybody! :awesome: But, of course, Thalia deserves an award, hers was just too enthusiastic and funny and all-over brilliant :laugh3::dazzled:

I see where you're coming from. The chords are definitely different but having learned the live versions of many songs, I've found Chris likes doing this thing were he "alternates" his fingers on a chord making it sound more complex. This can be heard a lot on live versions of Clocks, The Scientist and Politik. Sorry for the lack of specific terminology. I've never taken a grade of piano in all my life and was shocking at music in secondary school...

^ Don't worry, I've studied a bit but at first I used to play by ear as well and I would've said the same - I don't even have a piano, just a keyboard :P

Anyway, Chris does that alternation (some sort of arpeggio, I guess) with his right hand but it is based on Viva's four chords which he plays with his left hand. So he keeps the basic structure of the song changing the melody, making it seem very different and similar at once, just to trick our ears :dozey:

Haha, I'm going to try to work the intro out. But if the right hand plays a the same chords as the left, it shouldn't be that difficult ;) Of all the songs I learnt, he's never switched the melody and the bass line around at all. Must be a lovely new technique he's picked up :smug:

Thanks I would really appreciate it if you could. Is it difficult how would rate from 1-10

On a rating of 1 being All Of Me by John Legend or Someone Like You by Adele and 10 being the live version of Politik, it's a steady 3 ;)

Concert in Cologne’s E-Werk - Coldplay glitter at club gig

Köln –

The British world band Coldplay travelled to an intimate concert at Cologne’s E-Werk in order to present/introduce the upcoming album „Ghost Stories“. Who could get hold of a ticket, saw superstars in good moods / high spirits and witnessed a world premiere.

Who wanted to listen to the songs off Coldplay-s upcoming album live for the first time, had to get up early (in the night) on 12 March. The band’s performance at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas could be heard and watched worldwide as an internet stream, but because of the time difference in Europe at 4 o’clock in the morning.

The Coldplay show at Cologne’s E-Werk started at a clearly more comfortable time, 21.03 o’clock, on Friday 25 April and began – as was the case in Austin – with the new song „Always in my Head“. It was the first of six concerts on three continents in the hot phase of CD promotion – „Ghost Stories“ will be released on 16 May.

As was the case by their E-Werk concert in November 2011, 1Live broadcast the Coldplay show on the radio – a consolation for everybody who had failed to get one of the only 2,000 tickets available. But the broadcast did not cover the entire concert.

As the radio duty was fulfilled a little before 10 o’clock, singer Chris Martin told the fans: „Now we are just us“. Then the band played three more songs, two hits from 2002 („God Put a Smile Upon Your Face“ and „The Scientist“) and then even a genuine world premiere. At „A Sky Full of Stars“ the audience realized the meaning of the sweet stage deco, a sky full of stars.

Then it is over at around 22.15, the Coldplay classic „Yellow“ is not played this evening. As sad memory of Coldplay’s debut album, the band plays the new song „Oceans“ (another world premiere in Cologne) that Chris Martin starts playing alone with acoustic guitar and that reminds greatly of the sound esthetics of „Parachutes“. That was before Coldplay learned to play it big like U2. And when Chris Martin still did not know Gwyneth Paltrow.

Coldplay setlist

2. Charlie Brown

3. Paradise

4. Magic (new song)

^You are welcome. If there are reviews to be translated from Baden Baden then send me a PM with the links.

I am leaving very soon so I will not be able to do something before tomorrow, but there should not be new activities before 5 May (or the SNL show in a few days) so hopefully OKAY.

@ Danceteacher:

You know I always love your pre-concert photos for two reasons:

1) They capture the excitement of the fan-madness perfectly  And all the stuff that we are doing before the actual concert.

2) YOU ARE ALWAYS SO SNEAKY WHILE TAKING THEM, I didn't even realise you were taking pictures of us at half of the photos :surprised:

Ha, ha, that's what I always do! Live troll ;) But Anchorman is even sneakier ;)

and OMG the interview later on, HAHAHA! I totally fan-ed all over him, he was probably thinking like "what she fuck is she even talking about?!"

But you know what's even more surprising? All of my "eye-contact" gushing actually made it into the broadcast o__o

Here's the link if you want to lol a little:

Oh yeah and the man who interviewed us thought Guy was the drummer LOLOMG

Marcel, if you're reading this... I even TOLD YOU THE NAMES!

Thanks for the link - that is sooo funny!
