X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]

I re-listened to AIMH after reading this, and you know what?

I still don't see what's so bad about it. I love it. My only gripe is it isn't longer, but that is an artistic choice they made and I respect that.

Just an opinion...

Couldn't agree more! :) The first time I listened to it I was like huh, "Where is the rest of the song" when it ended. It needs to be longer IMO but at the same time I kinda like how it's short.

My only "complaint" about this song is that it probably needs one more element / idea towards the end to give it the oomph / completeness factor. Idk, maybe a short rap (by a guest), or more full-blown airy guitar, a different mix at the end, or something... It already has so many good / great elements - a beautiful well-constructed beat complete with effects (kudos Will), a dark-ish atmosphere haunting the track, some pretty edgy and dirty guitar work in both low and high registers along with those synths + falling guitars, and is that the first time Chris is musically playing with the rhythm section rather than his usual playmate Jonny? :p

I can't hear a saviour yet... Still sounds like innocent to me :)

Yeah I think innocent makes more sense but it's like I can't quite hear that exactly.

Sometimes I wish we I don't know had official lyrics to the songs? Such a radical notion for Coldplay lol

After a few listens to AHFOD as a whole, I must admit I think it's more original than Army Of One. At least the "So I race for iiittt" part is cool. Army Of One, on the other hand, is probably the most forgettable song in Coldplay history.

This post makes my heart go boom ba boom boom.

Hmm.. I personally like Army Of One better than XMTS, even if I like XMTS a bit better than I used to. Still my least favorite on the album (even the interludes rate higher in my book).

Guess we disagree on this point. I actually think POC is a pretty good pop song - I do not forget how it stood out from the rest to me on the radio during a time when I never even had heard of the word "Coldplay" (and was thus entirely unbiased).

Wait a second... You're such an active user that I thought you've been a big fan for a long time but you didn't know of Coldplay when Mylo Xyloto came out? :o I mean I'm not that early a fan (I first heard them in the VLV-era) but you're later than me?

No, it's true - I'd never heard of them before the end of 2011 but quickly became a fan (and an ardent proponent of their earlier works, as most people know :D)
