I ran away
I like Lovers in japan but I think the production is not really good. To my ears this song always sounds a bit muffled and not as clear as the other tracks on Viva.
alisbe
did you know that jonny wrote the middle part after chris snapped at him to go finish the song during a lunch at the bakery? chris' mom afterwards was cross with chris and said he shouldn't speak to ppl like that  Interesting fact!

I ran away
btw I HATE the line "Soldiers, you have to soldier on" because it sounds so anti-pacifistic and against Coldplay's own beliefs...
Jedi Leo
"keeping my head down to see what it feels right now...i have no doubt one day we´re gonna get out" Such an amazing line! So rebellious, so strong...never give up!
cp3176
More like a cross between Mylo and Viva IMO. But it's understandable as this was one of the last songs written for the album... they were very much crossing into Mylo at this point...
Jedi Leo
btw I HATE the line "Soldiers, you have to soldier on" because it sounds so anti-pacifistic and against Coldplay's own beliefs... Soldiers are not only those who go to war....it can be any of us who have to soldier on some hardship.
cp3176
BTW the intro to this song sounds almost exactly like the part in Major Minus from 2:05 to 2:35... just sayin

cp3176
The Intro to this song is so... haunting in a way.... I don't know. It's great though. I love how the magnificent Reign of Love follows after!

Jedi Leo
If that's the interpretation I am all for it, but I'm not sure that's what they meant.... Thats certainly how I always interpreted it. Also because it comes after "lovers". To me its always meant soldiering through anything hard in your life..we are a soldier in life too sometimes even if we bear no firearm :)
