Chris and Jonny were roommates with Tim Crompton when they were at the uni. Tim also had a band. One of the names of Tim's band was The Coldplay, but they dropped it, so he let Chris and the boys have it. (they were Starfish at the time ) Tim got the name The Coldplay from "Child's Reflections, Cold Play," by Philip Horky. Tim is in The High Wire now.

Huh? As far as I know Time Rice-Oxley (the pianist in Keane) was the guy they got their name from? I believe he was in another band called Coldplay and they quit. Chris even asked Tim to join their band.
