The Offical "The Killers" Thread

Featured Replies

While I never bought into the "Sam's Town" hate, I can understand some of the disappointment. It has some great tracks on it, but it's probably their weakest album.

(Also, no way in hell is BH&R underrated, and I say that as a huge Muse fan)

Sam's Town just named most underated Album of the Decade by Rolling Stone

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/12/14/readers-rock-list-most-underrated-album-of-the-decade/

It's important to note that this is a reader's pole. Rolling Stone bagged on Sam's Town big time when it came out. In fact, I went to an in-store with the Killers the day the album was released. This girl went up to them and asked that they sign the picture next to the review. Everyone in the band made bad remarks about the review. In fact, they thumbed to another page in the magazine in order to autograph it. They refused to sign anything next to the awful review they got from R.S.

yeah definitely. I kind of worded that wrong, it is their weakest album. just people that said it was a bad album, that's not right. it has some really, really great songs on it. there are some not as good songs, but hey, not many albums are perfect where every single song is wonderful.

and that's really funny that rolling stone beaked about it and then come back and make it the underrated album of the decade... :dozey:

EDIT: oh that was a readers poll. but still. ironic.

oh yeah all that abbey road stuff is so good! I love sam's town abbey road. it's wonderful.

"Sam's Town (Abbey Road Version)" is one of the few salvagable things off Sawdust.

Oh yeah. I went there.. :sneaky:

I thought I should ask you Killersfans if they're touring right now? I would like to see them live :)

I adore this new xmas song "happy birthday guadalupe"

can't stop listen that song!

I just found out today that The Killers are on Yo Gabba Gabba? I have to look that episode up!

I just got Live From The Royal Albert Hall CD/DVD.

One word.

AWESOME

I still haven't watched it...I'm a bad fan :disappointed:

@Isabella: unfortunately you're a bit late now, they've been almost everywhere since last year and they will wrap up the tour in Asia&Australia :)

I haven't got it yet either, even though I've been collecting their stuff since Hot Fuss... :\

I really really really really hope they do some shows down here! And not just festival gigs. I know their doing the good vibrations festical here next year, but I can't justify spending that much to go to that, when the only other band I'd see there is Friendly Fires :shame:

But here comes Ronnie putting a positive word:

"It’s been widely reported that The Killers’ upcoming gigs on Good Vibrations Festival tour would be their last for quite a long time, with guitarist Dave Keuning’s comments to Australian Associated Press last week widely interpreted as meaning the band would be going their separate ways for the rest of 2010. “Burnout” was cited as the reason the Las Vegas ensemble would be putting things on the backburner for a while, with Keuning claiming they needed to get off the treadmill for a while after six years of relentless touring.

However it’s looking like the full story is a little less dramatic. ITM got on the phone with drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. shortly after the reports were published, and he was intent on hosing down any reports of an extended hiatus.

Vannucci emphasised the ‘hiatus’ was more a case of a few members of the band looking to take a bit of time off, rather than any plans to go their separate ways for 2010. “Well no, because it hasn’t happened yet and we don’t really [have any plans to take time off]. I don’t know, we’ve got a few things up our sleeves. I’m sure there will be maybe a couple months of vacation involved. But some of us will still be pretty active, while some of us more or less want a bit of a vacation.

According to Vannucci, the band have already started work on the follow up to their 2008 album Day & Age. “Yeah, we’ve got a lot of what I like to call ‘cutting-room floor’ ideas and so on, left in the rubble from the last record.”"

I always knew Ronnie was my favourite killer, he always has the right words and keeps his promises :wacky:

They just cancelled their Asia tour and i was so looking forward to seeing them. :embarrassed:

They just cancelled their Asia tour and i was so looking forward to seeing them. :embarrassed:

they just broke my heart. :bigcry::bigcry: i was so excited about the concert. :bigcry::bigcry: it was supposed to be my first concert ever and it was cancelled. :bigcry:

Hopefully they give a official reason soon and it better be good, having concerts cancelled before i have experienced but just 2 days before and it being sold out. Oh so cruel.

this is their official statement, i think.

"The Killers have been forced to cancel their appearances in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul due to unforeseen circumstances. The band deeply apologizes to their fans and hope to reschedule their shows in these cities soon. At this time the band's Australian appearances remain scheduled as planned," the statement read.

i was hoping that the reason was clearer than 'unforeseen circumstances'...

I'm sorry for you guys, I know exactly how it feels having flown to the US to see Coldplay in Tampa..and you know what happened.

I read on the killers official board some singapore news websites said it's someone of their families being ill, hope it's nothing serious and that they'll be able to reschedule the shows after Australia

^^that family member better get well soon! :)

if they will reschedule, that will be awesome but im not getting my hopes up anymore. :\

They updated the news "unforeseen circumstances involving a serious illness of a close family member. The band deeply apologizes to their fans and hopes to reschedule their shows in these cities soon, we hope you understand and respect our privacy at this difficult time"

That's bad, I really hope it's nothing too serious :(

^^oh dear. that just made me nervous and worried. im hoping that everything will be okay.

Great group, my second fav after Coldplay!

"When You Were Young", "Tranquilize", "Spaceman", "This River Is Wild", "Change Your Mind", "Mr.Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me" are the best songs!

Greetings ;)

I have to admit... The Killers are my favourites  I love them. I'm Laura'93 on their boards as well and "LMC" on the Victims, if anyone is on there! Iriden, I think I recognise your name from the TKC board! :)

I feel really bad for everyone who was travelling from far away to see them in Asia, and for the people living over there who don't get them there too often. I really hope things get better for whoever is unwell, too. The circumstances are very difficult. :(
