I love this instrumental, picturing his powering vocals over the top.

His mom passed about two months ago from brain cancer, so this was probably his therapy. I think it will be really good.

I hope it is stuff like in the YouTube video. If it's stuff that he could have done with the Killers, I'm going to be pissed.

lets not be too harsh on Brandon. he isnt the only "killer" doing side projects. Ronnie announced his two weeks ago. feels a little reminiscent to The Strokes. 2 great albums followed by one weak effort followed by a "hiatus" with the members all doing their own solo projects. and if this Strokes comeback is anything to go by, the killers will come back bigger than ever.

every band should make 3 albums then disappear for 5yrs then comeback when everyone misses them.

Ronnie didn't announce anything, he just plays something in Mt. Desolation's album, it's not his album and he is not part of that band, only a one-off collabroation, so that's totally different from what Brandon is doing.

The thing that pissed me off is how they hyped up fans expectations when a simple news on the band's website would have been enough. I mean why me as a fan should be overly excited about this? Just because it has to do with someone from the band? I am not, at all, and I have a feeling this will be bring to the band even more fangirls than there are now, I'm really scared about this as I've already seen comments around of people who are excited just because it's ohmagawdbrandon :dozey:

Possibly its Mark posing as a Brandon Flowers solo project. Hence no vocals in the track sample. Now that would throw the fangirls off. :P

I think they need a break, and its a good move. The solo project ensures that the band is still in the spotlight through the 'hiatus' and then they can return with an album of the quality of hot fuss. Whilst I loved day and age, the general consensus was that it was rather average compared to their other album. Looking forward to hearing Brandon's album, he's got a fantastic singing voice.

Personally, I liked Day and Age. It was mellow and relaxing, but they need something very strong, powerful, and memorable, as you said like Hot Fuss, to compete with the popular music.

I hope it turns out something like that :nice:

I know! I got all excited from the countdown, I thought it would be more tour dates or, with a little luck, news about a new Killers album. And like you said, there'll be an abundance of fangirls now.

How do you figure Ronnie is not doing a side project? From what I've read (because it's all reports), he's already recorded the album. It's not like he's making a guest appearance - he's the drummer. And how do you know it's a one-off? It's too early to tell. To me, Ronnie and Brandon are doing the same thing.

I agree it was over-hyped, but I do like the fan girls. Brandon is a star, no doubt.

Just read Mt. Desolation facebook page or blog, he's not listed as a member of the band, just someone who is featured in the album for percussions and good vibes, so no, right now he's not doing any solo project or is part of another band (he is not the drummer) :)

The band:

Tim Rice-Oxley - Vocals, Piano

Jesse Quin - Vocals, Guitar

Andrew Lowe - Bass

Fimbo - Drums

John Roderick - BVs, Guitar

Pete Roe - Keys, BVs

Tom Fiddle Hobden - Fiddle

Jessica Staveley-Taylor - BVs

Also feat:

Ronnie Vannucci - Perc, good vibes

Country Winston Marshall - Banjo

Charity Quin - BVs

Jayne Rice-Oxley - BVs

Francois Deville - Pedal Steel

I might be wrong saying is a one-off for the future (no one knows if this band will go on doing albums after the first one), but that's what it is right now.

Hmmm. That's different from what I've read. I've seen at least 10 articles touting it as a full blown supergroup.

As soon as there is a whiff of a supergroup journalism standards fail, seriously all they aim to do is build up hype. Hence the inaccuracies.

I've been listening to the Live at Royal Albert Hall CD. That is a damn good CD. I especially like the live version of Bling. Good stuff. Only thing that pisses me off is that they cut Sweet Talk from the CD, and I know they played it because it's on the DVD. Bastards!

Yeah I wish they hadn't done that. Sweet Talk sounded great live.

But in general, the CD is great.

I haven't bought it yet :disappointed: As soon as I have the money I will though :blank:

Yeah the no-sweet-talk deal pissed me off too! I loved that one on the dvd.

They added a section to the main website with a link to a new site: brandonflowersmusic.com

I'm surprised there wasn't a countdown to the posting of the link.

Yeah

*Sigh*

I just really wish it could have been an EP or some more tour dates or something.....

This.

Until now, I can't get over the fact that the countdown was not something about the band. i guess i really got too excited and expected too much.

Hi Anette!

As excited as I am for the solo album (and nervous), it's annoying that they used the band's page to announce it so dramatically. :\

I LOVE LOVE the live version of Read My Mind and Sam's Town. I've had the cd in my car for like two months.
