AND that's a big part of the reason for the break.

How much time does one need? What's he going to do, spend his days staring at his ceiling? His Mom died, and that's sad. You take time to grieve and you move on. That's what everyone does. If my Mom dies, I get 5 days of paid leave and am expected back to work. That's the way it should be. So I still don't get the reason for a prolonged break.

Maybe they just want to spend time with their families? It must be hard for them, always being on the move.

Yeah, I get the desire to be off the road. But how long does it take to get back to writing new material? What do you do with your day if your not working on something?

doing awesome things like this:

just wanted another good excuse to put that in there. because it's wonderful.

and I agree, but I think that even if they're "on a break" though they might continue writing new stuff, they just won't bring it into the studio until they're done..their...break:confused: but who knows

That's a cool video. I have not seen it for some time.

Even then, only so many cameos you can do. Besides, I don't think Brandon will allow too long of a break - he's too ambitious. As for the rest of the band, I don't know, and that is what worries me.

This band needs to be working. Their drive is part of what has made them great. Plus, their last album was good, but not fantastic. They've got something to prove.

No one said they won't start writing on their own from tomorrow, break doesn't mean "I'm sitting on my sofa all day long just watching tv and drinking beer" or, in the case of Brandon "changing my son's diapers". Moreover it's not that a song comes on command, and I'm more than sure that Brandon, who is the main lyricist, never stops writing, just like Chris does.

Am I the only one who is not worried at all? Jeez, they're the only band where "hiatus" seems to mean break up for sure :dozey:

oh and btw Brandon's mom death is the not the reason why they're taking a break, it was only the reason why they had to cancel most of the last shows of the tour

Oh geez. I knew that, I must have been over tired when I wrote my reply.

Thanks for the correction:P

maybe brandon has come to realise that there is more to life than being the "biggest band in the world". him and his mates have spent the last 6years on an incredible high so even i've come to realise that maybe this break is for the best before the band burns out.

the recent announcement on their website sets in concrete the continuation of the band so we have nothing to be worried about.

and if they need advice on how to kill time while on "hiatus" they can give one Axl Rose a call, he spent 15years writing his latest album so he must have plenty of ideas.

A lot of the musical ideas for Day & Age were shared via email etc, whenever the band were apart from each other for whatever reasons. I'm sure they'll all come up with their own ideas and have their own inspirations during their time off this year, and my guess is that they'll still share their ideas in similar ways and keep things flowing. They aren't going to drop it all and have a doss! I think it will do them good to, first of all, recover from all the touring, and then just to have more freedom for a while, spending time with their families and developing their own ideas. A little time apart from each other could be really beneficial - I'm guessing a year and a half of being with the same bunch of guys every day, doing the same routine over and over, isn't much source for inspiration. I think (I hope) that it will be a nice change of pace and will let everyone recharge their batteries for a while.

A lot of pics from Good Vibraions 2010, in Melbourne, the last concert of Day And Age tour :(

yay I missed them, but they deserve the break. So, come back when you're ready !! I love you

(Yesterday was three months, from the concert that i saw them live in Buenos Aires :nice:)

^ That's my vid! :awesome:

'Uncle Jonny' is one of the most friggin cool songs i've ever heard. I love 'glamorous indie rock&roll', 'somebody told me' 'for reasons unknown', 'bones' and much more. Anybody seen 'Bones' music video? It was directed by Tim Burton, I think this is the best music video in the world. Check it out. :)

Come on it's his mom.

The only Killers song I know is Mr. Brightside somebody want to tell me other good ones and albums to listen to?

^ In my opinion all of them are great albums but you'll get the most Mr. Brightside-esque songs with Hot Fuss.

If you only want to try out some other songs...I'd recommend listening to All These Things That I've Done, Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Sam's Town, Read My Mind, and When You Were Young. I assume you've heard Human and Spaceman even if unknowingly.

Each album is so different, but I think Hot Fuss is their best album start to finish.

dont want to burst your bubble. but dont expect to hear much from them or about them for next 18 to 24 months. thats the massive downside to being a passionate fan of a band, when they decide to take a break it forces you to take a break from them as well.

^^Thank you :)

And no, I wasn't really expecting much news from them and I am expecting a long (and well deserved) break, but they haven't said anything at all. :(
