The Offical "The Killers" Thread

Featured Replies

Don't you think it's funny that, whenever you hear rumblings that something is going on, and are told that nothing is going on, something really is going on?

I have heard rumors that the Killers have been spending too much time together for awhile. Then you would always get the response, "no, there's no problems." Hmmm, ok! Listen, I hope they finish up their tour strong, take a much needed break, and re-group better than ever. They, along with Coldplay, are the most ambitious band going right now.

the band has just announced a very intimate gig in Sydney for February 12. tickets are on sale next wednesday. the venue only holds 2500 people so getting tix will be close to impossible.

Really sad about the Asian tour cancellation, it was so shocking to hear the news just 2 days before the Singapore concert. But if a family member is really ill I'll respect their decision. Rock stars still have personal lives too. I hope everything will be ok for them.

Ashamed to read the reactions of others towards the cancellation, calling the band names... 'Racist', 'my ex-favourite band', and even more offensive things (I'll leave that to your imagination). These 'fans' shouldn't even be called fans, if they have no compassion for personal tragedy.

I understand the reason for canceling but how ironic.

Considering Dave and some members of their crew were already in Hong Kong when the announcement was given, all this bullshit journalists are getting around about the band being sick of each other and the rumours about a break up is getting on my nerves.

After the first announcement people wanted to know more, they got it, it is a terrible reason, and still some people don't believe it.

Seriously the things I read written by some fans are really sick, lack of compassion and humanity and just show plain selfishness on their part.

@Laura: yes I recognise you, you were one of the few people writing in the Coldplay thread right? I don't write there anymore, I really don't like that board, but I still read :)

^ I believe that a family member is sick. I also believe that they are tired of each other. I believe both things.

How tired of each other are they? I guess we will find out.

I also believe they are "tired" of each other in the sense that they want to spend some time with their respective families (which is completely understandable, especially Brandon with two small children), but this has nothing to do with the Asia tour cancellation as everyone is going on about. That's what I was trying to say :)

That was me yes :) but the Coldplay thread is dead now! Most of the chat on there is just general now rather than about the band. :\

I think the timing has made people think it's worse than it actually is. All the talk about the "hiatus" and then the concert cancellations so soon after, people thought it was a bit suspicious. But I agree that now they have explained the reason for the cancellations, which is a serious personal issue, it's awful that people still don't believe them. Why on earth would they use something so serious as an excuse?

Their concert in Manila has been cancelled! Arghh. Supposed to be this 31st. :-/

well what went down this morning and on monday afternoon exemplifies the cut throat world of buying concert tickets in sydney. ticket sales for their "last" solo show were split over two days. combined it took less than 3mins for all 2500 to be sold out. i tried on both days and couldnt even get onto the page to buy the tickets.

im considering forking out an extra $40 to see them at a festival the night after.

finally, i have watched all their music videos. so, yes, twas the first time that i've seen their videos from hot fuss to saw dust. :laugh3: and i love Read my Mind. :wacky: so cute.

Good effort! :)

They have officially canceled the first few dates of their Australian tour, understand the situation but again could have done it earlier feel sorry for the people who bought flights and had paid for accommodation to go to the canceled dates.

Jeez, I tought the date they added in Sydney was a sign they could make it without any problem but guess the situation for the family member hasn't got any better :(

The thing I don't understand is that they're still going to play in the Gold Coast and Melbourne (maybe that extra week is all they need..?) But I'm sure hoping they don't cancel last minute there too! I nearly died when I read "Killers cancel Australian dates"... SO glad they're still playing at the Gold Coast, that's the only reason (apart from Friendly Fires :awesome:) I bought tickets to the festival!

Who, I have JUST found out, have completely cancelled all their Australian Dates. :annoyed: NOT IMPRESSED.

there is something very very wrong with all this. they signed on for that extra sydney date so recently and now they pull out. i know i sound really insensitive especially if there really is something serious in their families but they are pulling out of these days less than a week before they were meant to hit the stage at these festivals.

I think the extra Sydney date might have already been in the plans and they just went ahead with it hoping they would be able to do it. Its just really bad PR first the Asian tour cancellation 2 days before it was to start and same thing now, horrible situation for them personally but it could have been handled way better.

STATEMENT FROM THE KILLERS

FEBRUARY 10, 2010

The Killers had hoped that the Australian leg of their current tour would be completed as planned, but due to the severity of the illness of a close family member, they regretfully announce the cancellation of their Sydney Enmore show as well as their shows at Good Vibrations Festival Sydney and Good Vibrations Festival Perth this weekend. The band apologizes to their Australian fans and asks for their understanding. The Killers still intend to perform at the Good Vibrations Festival’s Gold Coast and Melbourne shows next weekend. The Killers would also like to take this opportunity to assure their fans that any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded. They are all looking forward to some time off at the end of this tour as they have been on the road for a long time, but there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus.

i hope that the family member gets better soon. :( he/she has been sick for around 2 weeks already. :\

Those of you who read their official board will probably already know this, but Brandon's mother passed away on thursday :(

I really hope that now people will understand how bad the situation has been for him this past weeks to make them cancel their shows and will stop whining for nothing.

my sincerest condolences and apologies to brandon, his family and his band for ever doubting for a second that they were covering up something else.

i really hope God gives him the strength to get through this rough period, his most probably sitting in a hotel room not far from where i am now. his music has been a shining light in dark times for me, so i hope our good wishes make up for at least some of that.

thats all i've got to say. kinda feel like a shitty person right now.

this is really sad news. i was hoping for the past weeks that everything gets better but... :\ condolences to brandon and his family. :( they'll get through this. may the heavens give brandon the strength to get through this very painful moment. :(

I never trusted any other reason beside the family member illness because I knew Brandon's mother had been ill for long, but I can understand we are used to believe there's always "something more" when gigs cancellations happen, so don't feel that way, people who keep saying terrible things to them should

First off, condolences to Brandon. Losing a family member is hard, especially your mother. I never doubted that there was a family illness, but I still doubt that this is a cohesive bunch.

Not that you ever want anything like this to happen, but since it has, I hope the band uses this as a rallying point to build better relationships with one another. Whether they know it or not, a prolonged hiatus is one of the worst career moves a band can make. A year or two is fine, but anything beyond that and people forget about you. That's sad but true.

Bands reunite to have successful tours, but how often do they put out good material after an extensive hiatus? I can count them on one hand. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I believe the Killers have the potential to have a lengthy stint as one of the greatest bands out there. I can't say that about many other bands today.
